Clean rooms and friendly atmosphere as well as the best access to the most important ghats make this place special. The hotel staff and the owner very helpful. The food in the roof top restaurant, managed by Mr Ravi, delicious and most important healthy. The best mango lassi in town :-) Very good place to relax after exploring the Old...

The room was clean and nice, and the best part was the restaurant in the rooftop. The chef is one of the nicest guys we met, he took us to a home where a guy made handmade Masala spices, tea, curry, and ayuverdic oils.

The situation of the guesthouse is perfect, in the center and very close to the main ghat. People are nice and friendly. The rooftop is a great place to stay and see the views of the city, and there Ravi cooks a spectacular food. He can cook anything, try to challenge him! We felt like at home.

After a busy day of wandering the streets of Varanasi we decided on having some refreshing drinks and food on the roof terrace. Almost no sound is present, and the vegetable curry was very good. The chef even took some time to make some simple food for a sick friend for us to take away. Thanks!

We went several times to this reataurant and enjoyed the rooftop, the tasty food, it's location close to the burning ghatts and the friendly service. The springrolls are so tasty! Prices are very low (we paid always around 400 to 600 for a meal, tea and water for 2 people).

Rooms are basic, but clean and manager Manu and his two sons are very friendly and helpful with everything The rooftop restaurant is fantastic with great indian food . After two less than wonderful experiences in Varanasi, we stumbled upon Sankatha Guest House, and what a pleasant surprise that was. Upon entry, we were greeted by friendly staff and received exceptional service. The menu was expansive and in between each delicious dish (we tried many) we were repeatedly reminded of the 'fresh and clean' ingredients the chef was using....

Nice place at a low price. We quite a big room with a shower. There is a restaraunt upstairs with a view on the river and the buildings. The food was delicious and we had the room service, which we really appreciated! The Internet signal in the room was not very good, and there were a few shutdowns, but they...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We welcome you to a quiet, comfortable, homely atmosphere, and hope you enjoy your stay with us. This budget accommodation in Varanasi offers fine facilities. 21 rooms all with attached bath, some with air condition. We are at the main heart of the city, absolute bank of the River Ganges, so any place and every spot is easily reachable. 'MANIKARNIKA GHAT' is famous for Burning Ghat, where Hindus burn body after death. At last but not least our services are exclusively traditional. We believe our guest as God in disguise. Situated in the heart of the ancient Varanasi close to the Golden Temple and Burning Ghat. Walking distance from Main Ghat and Main Market. 30 minutes from railway station/bus stop, airline offices, 1 hour from Varanasi Airport. If you desire to spend less for a comfortable stay, still live in privacy, style, luxury and elegance, with very simple but very comfortable and immaculately clean rooms, with/without attached baths/showers, running hot and cold water, western style toilets then this is it!! We have a little sitting arrangement for our guests where they come sit, share their stories, plan for the next day, drink and dine and have a whole lot of fun together. ... more   less
