We stayed here as part of our tour of the golden triangle. It is a heritage hotel and it does it well. However there is no atmosphere and we only saw 3 other couples during our 3 night stay. Our room was huge as was the bathroom but it was so cold that we needed to use the heater provided....

Upgraded to a spacious, charming, rooms (nos. 101 and 102) on the ground floor with direct access to the pool area at the rear (excellent place to enjoy the sun in the morning). Nice prospect to the front of the room with seats outside. Housekeeping staff very efficient (we were impressed by the fact that after we had packed and...

Of all the places I was staying at whilst travelling in India the Grand Imperial was the one I was most looking forward to; but maybe my expectations were too high. We entered the reception only for the present staff to ignore us and were much more interested in their phones. One of them walked away still talking loudly on...

This hotel was not a pleasant stay. The restaurant was very poor with little choice. The staff had dirty uniforms and the tables were more like a canteen than a hotel. The service was not the usual standard we have found. The room was damp and not very welcoming. Glad we didn't stay long. I wouldn't recommend here al all. Sorry.

I'm confident this was once a gorgeous, pristine, Victorian styled hotel that guests wooed over; however, that time has passed. This hotel shows the structure of beautiful British architecture, but it hasn't aged well over time. Many items are outdated and in need of repair, which makes the location somewhat overpriced in my opinion. Although the grounds were nice, and...

Our room was enormous at stood the end of the first floor balcony which runs along the entire facade of the hotel. A window overlooked the back garden and swimming pool. It was late afternoon when we sat near the pool and asked a waiter for 2 beers and some peanuts. There were no other guests. They arrived 30 minutes...

Antique furniture, antique decor, antique building and antique tube televisions. Shower in a high claw foot tub and climb in and out and pray you don't slip on wet marble floors (no shower curtains). Feet got black on bottom walking on room's marble floors. Listened to nearby train whistles all night. WiFi was awful in room. Had to sit outside...

The room was spacious and clean... I stayed in room 210 which is located a step away from a lift. Attempted to use the lift but got a shock when the door opened. It was dirty and smelly. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
THE GRAND IMPERIAL AGRA The Grand Imperial is the only Heritage hotel in Agra, and takes you into a world of Victorian Era. The wide arches and the red Lahori brick walls are a blend of Colonial and Mughal architecture. The Grand Imperial offers enough history to keep guests engrossed for days on end. There are special rooms, old mementos, photographs and macho stories of courage and velour that can be recounted over and over again. Located in the heart of the city of Agra, the hot seat of the Mughal Empire, the 100 year old Grand Imperial is constructed of biscuit bricks commonly referred to as Lahori bricks, which were also used in the construction of the world renowned monument of love - The Taj Mahal and the Red Fort. Post World War II the Imperial Hotel, as was then known, played host to distinguished guests such as the crown princes of England and Japan, Prince Aga Khan, Shri Moti Lal Nehru, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Jai Prakash Narayan and renowned cinema personalities such as Dilip Kumar, Madhubala and others. Its 16 chambers of princess rooms and 14 deluxe rooms are a blend of the new modern comforts with old Heritage ambience. The property consists of old heritage, Victorian style arches, rooms with large areas and ceilings, wide corridors and spacious verandahs, open gardens, etc. Enjoy the Victorian-Mughal Era, in the bar, with its array of excellent wines, and beers. The multi-cuisine restaurant, bar, health club, spa, and lush lawns, makes your stay memorable. ... more   less
