Now reopened with Resaalaa Restaurant. Ravla Khempur used as The BestExotic Marigold Hotel,a british movie. The title ‘Ravla’ in Rajasthan refers to the home of a village chieftain”. In earlier days, the Ravla was the focal point of the entire village. Functions such as village welfare, collection of taxes, administration of law and order, and the initiation of festivals took place in the Ravla. Ravla Khempur exudes historical ambience and is graced with breathtaking surroundings. The lofty terraces, open courtyards, sprawling gardens, domes, arches and canopied balconies transport one back in time. Khempur village developed over the centuries to one side of the Ravla. It comprises a small, random and attractive cluster of typical rural dwellings and shops, and shaded squares where the villagers discuss the affairs of the world or share the local gossip. For the visitor, this is a side of India that has its own fascination; the cheerful welcome and natural hospitality of the village folk who ask nothing more than to enjoy a chat over a cup of tea.

As two twenty somethings who are big fans of the best exotic marigold hotel we knew that we had to go and see the Ravla Khempur whilst in Udapur. The hotel is about a 45 min taxi drive from the city (which is no problem as taxi's are super cheap and you get to see so many interesting villages on the way!).

We had no idea what to expect but the staff and hotel blew our minds. The staff met us at the entrance, and gave us somewhere to leave our bag. We were taken on a full tour of the hotel, and were given lots of insider stories on filming. The tour was at our pace and we were never rushed which was great. You can tell that the guys who run the hotel are super passionate about the hotel and it's history.

We then sat down for lunch, which the chef had prepared to be all vegan and veggie for us and which was super delicious. Especially loved the fresh chapati that was brought out every ten mins or so. The staff were super attentive.

After lunch, despite us not having booked a room, we were offered free use of the pool with towels and a room to change and leave our valuables (which was actually one of the ones used in the film!). We spent the afternoon chilling out, drinking gin and tonics in the sun and playing with toffee - the most adorable little puppy i have ever seen.

Unfortunately we couldn't stay as we were on a tight schedule, but we will definitely be returning as soon as possible to stay for longer. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are lush.

One thing will always stick with us - the staff told us that we "will always have a home in India at the Ravla Khempur". <3

A wonderful relaxed atmosphere created by a lovely family.
We wanted to stay here due to its links to the film but found so much more... beautiful stained glass window seats in the bedrooms where you can watch the horses outside, a tour by the owner around the stud with their amazing horses, a trip to the organic farm to taste their home produced fruit and veg and a tour of the largest skate park you can imagine. Quite rightly they are very proud of everything they have achieved in this quiet area of Udaipur.
A recent addition they have built a swimming pool which at the time we were there was a bit too cold for a dip but would be lovely in the warmer months.
The wonderful dinner we were given in the evening was outstanding made from as many of the fresh ingredients we had seen that day as possible, with sweet tomatoes and potato’s with fenugreek some of the highlights.
Please come and stay at this brilliant hotel for yourselves, it won’t disappoint.

You can't call this place a hotel. Its A home away from home. A place where you feel like you're a king yourself. The hosts are so warm that you'll feel you're staying with your own family. Be it any hour, there's always someone to attend to you. The owner Hemant ji, and both his sons, Shantanu and Rohit are the most humble family you can come across ever in life. Hemant ji's wife herself remains present in the kitchen to make sure the guests are served food in such a way that you don't feel home sick and everything served her is lip smacking - you won't eat here due to hunger, you'll stuff yourself due to its amazing tasty food. From horses to dogs, they have the best breed on the earth and they are so well trained themselves that during your trip you'll gather so much of information and add to your knowledge. The experience of staying in a palace in the middle of a village itself is like a dream come true. The stay can't be expressed in words. Its way beyond much much better than staying in Abu or Udaipur. The younger son Rohit even makes you undergo the experience of horse riding. The way he talks to his horses is unbelievable, wherein the elder son deals into the breeding. at the age of 21 & 19 respectively, its unbelievable how humbly they've been brought up. from food to hospitality to the animals to the skate park (biggest in India) every thing here is worth visiting and appreciating. as a traveler, this is a place not to be missed at all. no wonder so many films are being shot here. you have to stay here to believe it - experience it. to sum it up - a must go for everyone. if you'll go here once, they'll ensure you visit them often and every time you also look forward to being here with this beautiful family. yes, that's the kind of love they spread. Love this place....❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Forget a hotel as you know it. Don’t think of a romantic hotel in Jaipur. This is a truly earthy experience of great character and charm. You’re in the middle of a stud farm and the beautiful horses are trotted by all the time. The stables are around the swimming pool so the aroma isn’t jasmine.
The staff are most friendly and charming. I’m terrified by dogs and there’s 5 Great Danes and a puppy here. When I told them I’d had a dreadful experience at a previous hotel they took such care to ensure none came near me I felt totally relaxed. In addition the dogs were very well behaved and docile.
Nitin took us to a wedding party just after we arrived and also on a walk around the village. Things happen all the time and you learn a lot about India staying here. The small things are just as interesting and memorable as the grand sights of Rajasthan I find.
We had a comfortable room and everything is done to make certain you’re well fed and entertained here. . You have an opportunity to watch The Exotic Marigold Hotel! You’ll certainly remember this lovely heartwarming experience. Just don’t come expecting a Taj hotel. It’s more fun here!

We are two mid-twenties who tried to squeeze in a visit to see this hotel after being a fan of the film for years. We were so glad we came to visit for lunch, we had a tour of the beautiful building and grounds with amazing anecdotes. We stayed for lunch which was lovingly prepared to suit our dietary requirements - veggie and vegan. The staff couldn't do more for us, offering us anything we wanted and ensured we felt we had a home in India. We didn't need to ask for anything, the staff were kind and attentive and were equally as gracious to the other guests at the hotel. They even put on the film for guests to enjoy and added stories while watching. We were offered the use of the pool after our lunch with use of a beautiful room to put our bags and change. We were gutted we were not able to stay overnight and are planning to come back to stay. The road there is local/rural so we were not sure what to expect, but once we saw the gates to the hotel it was a non stop amazing experience. We even got tattoos to mark the occasion with the quote 'it is not yet the end' from the film! Thank you to the staff for an amazing day! Lots of love Katie and Grace

A wonderful hotel where we spent 3 unforgettable days❤️ I experienced a feeling in this hotel that I had never experienced in any hotel before: the feeling that you were at home or with a loved one who is worried about providing you with the most comfortable rest😍 The hospitality provided by the owners and staff of the hotel was deeply manifested🥰 We were met with music and treats, placed very
It is difficult for me to call this palace a hotel, as the walls of this building keep history and it is felt in the air✨ I think the most beautiful thing is that the descendants of the dynasty have preserved this value to this day. The beautiful territory of the hotel, historical architecture, beautiful walls and columns are all so beautifully combined with the kindness and nobility shown by the owners❤️ This small world looks like paradise, it is dominated by friendliness, kindness and love. Birds sing in it, dogs with the kindest eyes run and live the most beautiful horses I've ever seen. I wish I would return there again, undoubtedly yes, I left a piece of soul there, took a piece of this fairy tale🙏🏽 I consider myself a favorite of Allah, who gave me the opportunity to visit a beautiful palace and amazing people once, it's happiness. I will forever remember the kindness of the eyes and warmth of the hearts of the people I met there and will dream of going there again🥰🫂

A low bow to you for your kindness and hospitality. I wish prosperity to your hotel and grateful tourists❤️

The most amazing place. The staff really wonderful. We picked strawberries on their organic farm, which were really sweet and tasty. The food was superb, everything tasted fresh and delicious. We watched the film in the evening and spent ages exploring and finding where all the filming happened. Them we met the horses!!! Fantastic.
The most amazing place and the highlight of out trip.
Thank you for a wonderful time.

We really enjoyed to stay at the hotel. Attentive and friendly owners and staff did everything to make us feel at home. They cooked special non-spicy food for us. Helped in resolving any issues that arose. Village atmosphere, nature, animals сonquer my heart. Now in the heart of India there is a place where you want to return, like home.

I booked this venue for a surprise birthday lunch for my friend on our exciting first visit to India. We felt bad as our tour was running late and we didn't arrive until after 3pm but we were not made to feel bad and our Indian luncheon was superb. A typical family meal was cooked for us and I must say the flavours were sublime especially the aubergine and pumpkin dishes. The best Indian meal I have tasted. We were waited on like royalty and couldn't believe we were actually in the hotel where The Exotic Marigold Hotel was filmed. It was a dream come true for us.

The added experience of learning about the horses from Rajmani's son and looking through the accomplishments of the family was an extra treat.

We just wished we had time to spend a few days there relaxing as the movie stars did. A real highlight of our holiday.
