Absolutely loved staying here. It's in the outskirts of Udaipur about an hour away from the city but being in the country was fantastic after Mumbai. Such stunning scenery. The hotel is an aging beauty so full of charm and serenity complimented by wonderful staff especially the manager Nitin. Visiting the local village and staying in this wonderful place was...

My husband and I came here for a visit as we wanted to see where the film was shot. It's an hours' drive from central Udaipur and we went by private taxi which was only about £10. It's a lovely drive there there through the beautiful Rajasthani countryside. It's set in a very quiet village with virtually no tourists as...

So pleased we visited here. Comforting to see that it was and still is an operating hotel, before and after the movie was made. We had a very simple lunch here and were shown through the hotel. The rooms are basic needs but very clean, reflecting what you would expect in a remote country village a bit over an hours...

We stayed for three nights and we loved this place. We LOVED it! The owner, his family, the manager and all the staff welcomed us warmly and helped us in every possible way. There is wifi and it works nicely. There may be sometimes problems to get hot water from the shower, but normally the staff can arrange it to...

Beautiful place, full of nice and romantic places, perfect to feel that you are in India. Great sunrises with a golden light all around and beautiful sunsets by the lake near. There you can feel like at home with a very friendly people running the hotel and to have a morning walk around the village is a delicious feeling! I...

This is the place where the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel films were based. We were shown round by the urbane Sunny - actually the charming and erudite Nitin Kumar. He runs the hotel and the developments that are taking place. The hotel itself is quirky, quaint and basic. The restaurant is pretty good and will continue its upwards curve of...

It is hard to know exactly how to rate this hotel because it makes the hotel in the film look positively professional. It is a beautiful old building, largely unspoilt and fairly shabby in some areas and the staff often quite inept BUT it is also quirky, charming and the kind of place that you want to return to. You...

One night here is great, especially if you've seen the movie but two nights I'm not so sure about. The people who run the hotel are warm and friendly and the food is decent. The room we stayed in was comfortable and roomy and the bathroom was good except no hot water, even when they said they had fixed it....

I stayed in the beautiful Ravla Khempar Hotel aka The Real Best Exotic Marigold Hotel just by chance and after travelling for 2 weeks with a tour group this was a fantastic ending after leaving our tour. If you loved the movie then you must visit this place. Such an authentic romantic hotel. The place feels exactly the way it...

We loved staying at Ravla Khempur. The manager was very personable and took us for a walk in the local village where a festival was happening. We were welcomed by the community and participated in the festival. We were the only guests on the night we stayed and we had a choice of rooms. My daughter wanted a henna tattoo...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Now reopened with Resaalaa Restaurant. Ravla Khempur used as The BestExotic Marigold Hotel,a british movie. The title ‘Ravla’ in Rajasthan refers to the home of a village chieftain”. In earlier days, the Ravla was the focal point of the entire village. Functions such as village welfare, collection of taxes, administration of law and order, and the initiation of festivals took place in the Ravla. Ravla Khempur exudes historical ambience and is graced with breathtaking surroundings. The lofty terraces, open courtyards, sprawling gardens, domes, arches and canopied balconies transport one back in time. Khempur village developed over the centuries to one side of the Ravla. It comprises a small, random and attractive cluster of typical rural dwellings and shops, and shaded squares where the villagers discuss the affairs of the world or share the local gossip. For the visitor, this is a side of India that has its own fascination; the cheerful welcome and natural hospitality of the village folk who ask nothing more than to enjoy a chat over a cup of tea. ... more   less
