We had the pleasure of spending a night at Newtons Manor during a recent trip to Jodhpur and would highly reccomend this place to anybody seeking a place to stay with a difference. Resembing a homage to all that is Merchant Ivory, the decor is pure Rudyard Kipling Victoriana, harking back to the glorious (for some) days of the Raj!...

We were received by very kind people in a house similar to that of old friends, not a hotel. Automatically we act as by friends: we can have good meals at lunch / dinner time, but we must say it some hours before. At dinner, we are at a table with other people like us, and in minutes we start...

Newton's has an old school-British air about its decor. There are some hunting trophies including a tiger and a snooker table as well as general memorabilia. Rooms are clean and relatively quiet. Bathrooms are serviceable and clean. Staff are helpful and home-cooked food is great value for money.

My time at this hotel was marred by some really annoying factors. I was given a room on the ground floor which had one entire wall of glass windows and the bedhead was right next to a window that was part of the hotels' office.....very thin curtains on both meant that you felt you had no privacy and the noise...

The first impression of this guest house (note a hotel) is quite gloomy due to the location and quite eclectic style of furnishings, but the friendly staff make you feel like at home. The breakfast and dinner are eaten together with other guests around a large table which adds to the cosy and friendly atmosphere. The rooms are quiet and...

Small, inexpensive and clean. Staff are attentive, not many appointments however free internet which was nice after being charged for this everywhere we go. rooms are ab it secluded and enclosed, it is really a B&B rather than a hotel. Breakfast was simple, eggs and toast. Not bad for 1,350Rs in a quiet neighborhood.

All the critics in the guidebooks are correct, good restaurant, pool table, internet connection breakfast included, rates as per recommended, small garden. But they have omitted the fact that the place is a huge old house with very little natural light and the rooms are decorated fanatically with religious pictures & bibles......

Our travel agent and other travelers (and their guidebooks) recommended this property, however we thought it was overrated. This is a guesthouse - something like a bed & breakfast.. The rooms are very clean and they do have private baths. The owner also has an antique furniture business, so the place is furnished in antiques, if that appeals to you....
