I really enjoyed my stay at Laxmi Niwas. The hotel has rooms on the fort’s wall, with a great view over Jaisalmer. My room was small, but clean and with a silent fan. A couple of things to be careful about though: my room was advertised as double room, however I struggled to find the space to drop my one backpack (55l) travelling solo. The bed was almost square, in fact it would leave calves and feet out. I doubt couples travelling would fit into such a small room, there literally is no space for two backpacks or two people on the bed. One more thing to notice is that en-suite bathrooms have squat toilet. So no western toilets. Finally, and this is the reason I am giving four stars rather than five, a couple of things I didn’t like: although my booking.com reservation clearly stated that all services and goods taxes where included in the final price, the gentleman running the hotel insisted I paid it extra. When I then paid the extra tax, he had no change to give back and promised he was going to sort his debt out later. I never had my change. Not at all a big deal, but I do value transparency and these little things detracted from the experience. The gentleman owning the hotel seemed to be scared I was not going to pay, as he kept asking me daily, even more than once a day, when I was going to pay.

We looked for a camel trip and got here a reasonable price (1000 rupies a day and person) and the feeling that we can trust this family runned businness. We also moved into the hotel,we had a comfortable clean and light room with balcony. One of us got sick and the family took care of him with special food and advice, also changed the date of the booked trip without complain. The camel trip was great, good organiced, good food, a competent and fuuny guide. Just make it clear at what time you return at the last day.
When we left Jaisalmer with the bus to Pushkar we forgot expensive glasses in the hotel. The owner actually made the effort to bring the glasses to the bus station next day and set them to Pushkar with the bus driver. We appreciate very much all the help and kindness we found here.

i was in Jaisalmer for a week and first i stayed in another guesthouse but ended up my friends and i were not having a good time, mainly because of the camel safari.
after that we went to the fort for a new experience and we settled at hotel laxmi niwas, the view from the rooftop is beautiful, and the family who run this guesthouse is really nice.

Really bad experience. Prior to our visit, owner behaved very nicely over phone. After visit, we realised, owner too greedy. Almost tried all ways to get more money from us for Cab charges. We arranged the Cab from other Hotel at almost 40% rate and it was very nice outing to Sam Sand dunes.

I stayed at laxmi niwas for two nights. The host was helpful but very rude. He denied all travel information I had given him about a bus strike and then when he found out it was true he didn't say anything regarding the matter. The host was very rude to my friend and called her a liar and didn't take any responsibility in a misunderstanding that happened. We only stayed another night as our third traveller was very sick. The room was dirty and there was silver fish and hair in my bed. The views are really nice over the fort. I recommend not staying on the bottom level as the host and his family are very loud. The bathrooms smelt like urine and needed some cleaning. Good price but needs a lot of work.

This is the place if you are travelling and want to spend your time into the fort. The view of the city, sunset and desert is amazing. The owner and the family are the best. The rooms are basics but the place is wonderfull to enyoy Jaisalmer. I recomend this place to stay.

I wasn't expecting to find any accommodation this cheap while planning to stay inside India's only working fort.

It's a modest place, don't expect any luxury except a bed, fan, western toilet and well, the best of them all, a near perfect sunset from the edge of the fort wall.

Location of the hotel is superb and its a thrilling experience to stay within the fort. But few things I want to share with the viewers. Firstly, please before check in the hotel, be sure that whatever room you have booked, they are offering the same. Secondly, verify the rates of camel safari with other travel agents (there is one travel agent at every step both inside and outside the fort). It is too expensive offered by this hotel.
