The lobby area, green spaces and surrounding are spacious. The evening river & nature view from lobby as well as from room Balcony are serene. This is not a crowded place and hence one observes silent ambiance. Only disappointment in Room was old model TV set. Evening walk around temple and hillside roads is pleasant experience.
Place is on the Mumbai-Goa highway and used to be a Taj Property till 2003. It is still maintained decently and the staff is both prompt and polite. It offers you some of the best views of the forest, city and river all at same time. Although with the widening of highway they have lost some of the garden space but it's still a large property for a weekend getaway. They have a swimming pool, garden, board games, and table tennis table. They have an infant area as well but it needs renovation. Restaurant rates are a bit expensive compared to the city but I suspect intention is to give a premium feel. You need to have a vehicle to move around in the city to try different cuisine and frankly there is not much to see around so rather you should laze around and unwind.
Despite numerous adverts that this hotel has been refurbished the truth is it hasn’t. Was here 3 years ago and nothing has changed in fact it’s got worse. Furniture in need of repair. Rooms look tired and worn. No lifeguard at pool at any time. Poor service at pool have to wait a long time to order drinks and food. Should have a better method to contact staff. WiFi reception very poor. None available in rooms only in reception area. Won’t visit this hotel again until it improves and actually does the refurbishment.
Our group was told, one year ago, that we couldn’t book as the hotel was closed for refurbishment. Upon arriving at the hotel this year there was no evidence of anything having been done apart from a loss of part of the garden, below the pool, presumably to make way for the highway being updated. The rooms and bathrooms were almost the same as they were when I stayed 3 years ago just even more tired and in need of refurb than they were then. The channels on the TV didn’t work, some of our group had rooms with virtually no lighting, though there are so many switches they admitted it could have been, in part, down to confusion. Food on the whole was very good, though the staff were very polite and helpful, service was very slow at times, especially by the pool. Some kind of call system, for service for food and drinks at the pool side, would very very useful as it could be a very long time before any staff appeared. The hotel does need to get some decent coffee in the restaurant, sachets of instant coffee are (just) acceptable on the room drinks tray but you would not expect to need to take your own french press with you to breakfast to get a decent brew.…
I don’t think many people are aware of this resort and the beautiful landscape which is a jungle as well as a maintained space. I spent two nights here and enjoyed shooting a number of birds through a DSLR. There are black hooded orioles, crimson backed sunbird, purple sunbird, golden fronted leaf bird, blackbird, oriental magpie robin, tailor bird, prinia etc. all within the campus. The view for landscape shooting is amazing overlooking the Vashishti river. There is a 700 years old (as told by locals) temple of Parshuram few Kim’s away. The food and staff at the hotel are amazing. When we were photographing many of the staff including security came out to help show us where they observed many birds normally. All in all it was a wonderful experience.
