Owner lives on site and is an Aussie expat, with a welcoming smile and is very helpful in every way. Will definitely be back, Rose, to stay again. Room we had was super large and clean. Location is great with the beach area just across the road and down steps from the cliff face. Also walking distance to the Restaurants...

I had just spent a fairly ordinary night in the Kerelan capital when I arrived at Gumnut. The place was tidy and very clean. My room was airy and comfortable. The homestay is in Southcliff away from the more populated Northcliff which my friends and I liked. Considering what other places are charging this is excellent value. Highly recommend it....

Very overdue review as we visited a while back, but kept meaning to pop a note on here to say what a wonderful holiday we had staying here. Great location, huge big house with large kitchen area and lovely balcony area. What really made our stay was our host Rose who was super friendly without being invasive and couldn't have...

We really enjoyed staying at Gumnut thanks to Rose's hospitality in the beautifully coloured Gumnut. Our room was kept sparking clean - it was spacious with generous sized beds and a big bathroom. We slept well every night as its really quiet and the mosquito nets at the window and the celing were super efficient so we were mossie free....

Comfortable, peaceful and clean home stay on a beautiful part of the South cliff in Varkala! Rose, the lovely owner runs an efficient homestay where we spent two great days. Room was well furnished with all the basic amenities and we also had an attached shady, cool balcony. There is also a kitchen with filtered water, tea and coffee. The...

We stayed as a group of four friends over Christmas. The homestay is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Rose is a kind and helpful host, organising some express laundry for us and generally looking after us well. The location is great, in the peaceful south cliff area, near some good restaurants (Green Pepper for breakfast and Marina Bay for dinner)...

We really enjoyed our stay in Gumnut Beach House. Rose is friendly, helpful and down to earth. The beach house is located at the more peaceful and relaxed south cliff, away from the hassle of touristy shops at the north cliff. Restaurants and beach are easily accessible by foot or rickshaw. Perfect place to stay if you want to rent...

Ex-pat Aussie Rose runs a great homestay a very short walk from the much quieter south cliff in Varkala. We had a very spacious room for a family of 4. It was spotlessly clean, airy and mosquito free during the 4 nights we were there. An "en-suite" balcony was a great place to read and relax away from the heat...

Such a clean, peaceful and relaxing place to stay. Host is incredible and very accommodating. A great escape from the hectic mainbeach in Varkala and offers much more privacy. A small kitchenette is available for use. Highly recommended.

Away from all the commercial "touristy" spaces, located close to the beautiful and ancient Janardhana Swamy temple and yet just 200 metres from the main beach. Run by Rose and her husband, I had almost all of my interactions with the very thoughtful and charming, Rose, an Australian who has made Varkala her home for very many years. The place...
