The cleanest accom that I stayed in in India. Debra the owner goes the extrA in making sure her guests feel welcome and enjoy their stay. She absolutely goes above and beyond and as a solo female traveller it was so nice to have the staff taking care of you, giving you advice and creating a warm environment. The roof... More

I stayed at Kaiya House in March with 3 friends while travelling in Kerala and Goa. As a B&B owner myself I know how hard it is to cater for all tastes and requirements but Debra certainly succeeds. The rooms and bathrooms were comfortable, tastefully and individually decorated and, most importantly, spotless, The breakfasts were served on the lovely roof... More

Having never visited India before we read plenty reviews of different places all over Kerala and Varkala. In the end, we settled for Kaiya House as our number one choice, and it turned out to be a very good one! Debra was very kind and showed us 'the ropes' as far as tourism goes. She explained lots of "do's and... More

Ooooo, I have such a difficult relationship with technology. I think I just deleted my entire iPod and replied to the wrong review! Opps! But I'd do want to thank you for your kind words and taking the time to write them! Who knows, perhaps we'll meet in Sweden one day! Enjoy! More

Really nice people who take care of you. Good service, good food and nice rooms. Varkala beach is like Goa in Kerala. Beautiful beach and nice restaurants and shops. (Tibetan shops were especially great) We really enjoyed the experience.

We can agree with the previous reviews that Debra is one of the most conscientious and hardworking hosts we have had. She went out of her way to be helpful, and is willing to try to solve any problems that might come up. The seven km morning walk was really fun and good exercise. She was very helpful in arranging... We stayed here for 2 nights and Debra and her staff could not have done more for us or made us more welcome. Our room was spacious and spotless and breakfast on the top terrace was very pleasant. The beautifully decorated house is in a quiet street but within walking distance of the beach and the cliff. However if you... More

We, a family of two adults and one teenage child, stayed at Kaiya House for 3 nights, and, thanks largely to our host Debra, had a wonderful and memorable time. We stayed in two rooms- one air-conditioned, and one non air-conditioned, and both were spacious, comfortable and even the non AC was not too hot. The rooms were decorated interestingly... More

Kaiya House is an excellent choice for a home away from home. Varkala cliff and beach are but a few minutes walk away and where restaurants and bars are located. Kaiya is clean and comfortable with eclectic interior decor and themed bedrooms. The rooftop communal area is thoughtfully designed, spacious, well equipped and the place to chill out and meet... Kaiya House is really all about Debra, who turned a rather run down house on the edge of town into a stylish and really comfortable home. Our stay at Kaiya house was really lovely thanks to Debra. She has filled the house with lots of great art, furnishings and pieces which make it really unique.
