It's nestled between the Arabian Sea and the Parvathiputhanar, Karamana rivers, situated on an island, blessed by nature. I write this as I am sitting at the balcony of my room at the resort. Very seldom would you get a property which is spread in three parts and which gives you a landscape view as this one. You see the sea, a barren beach, a river(back water) and lush greenery lined by coconut tree. Yes it's a 15 years old property, but does it matter when it's well kept, have smiling and courteous staff and good food. When u sit at the balcony of superior king size room and it's raining, the view and experience is just mesmerizing. If you do not like much crowd, i dare say that this resort is much better than sitting at any beaches nearby. Vipin and Prabhu gives you very caring service when u cross the Killi river to the resturant. The beds have good hard mattress which makes your sleep comfortable, The bathtubs are big with hot and cold water. If you come to Kovalam, I think you will miss something if you dont stay here. The more you stay the more you love this place, the initial look might make you little thinking though.

Had wonderful 2 days at the resort, budget friendly, nice staff, beautiful location, close to Airport.
Food was good, the cook was patient with us, the staff, Pramod,Deepu and Gowtham were so helpful.
Getting to restaurant from our room was a fun experience, the resort is close to all the tourist location and you can avail rickshaw and cabs.
Rooms are neat and clean, better to visit during non peak months and avoid weekends to enjoy peace and tranquility.

I stayed here from 24-27/10/2022 on the Ayurvedic package so received a thorough consultation from the ubiquitously helpful Dr Gowtham who took care of my programme, diet and general well-being. The massages themselves were fantastic and directed at problems in my lower back, knees and stress/sleeping patterns. My room had an amazing sea view and it was great fun to take the punt over the lagoon for meals in the delightful open air restaurant. My Ayurvedic food programme was delicious and nutritious. Thoroughly recommend the whole experience.

We were very hesitant to book as the comments were so different. But indeed, people are different and therefore not everyone expects the same thing from an establishment. So yes, Beach and Lake is not a beachside establishment where you can rent a deckchair by the sea for the day and find 50 restaurants with as many touts, if not more, upon leaving the establishment. There is also no Karaoke every other evening or even long games of bingo in the evening. If that's what you're looking for, go to Kovalam Beach instead, you'll be delighted 😉. On the other hand, if you are looking for a quiet place, with a magnificent view, soothing, where you will eat well (the chef is really great), where the staff is attentive and extremely attentive, where you can follow Ayurvedic treatments and massages with attentive and experienced people so don't hesitate, go for it! The view is magnificent, really, but it's true that even if you can walk on the beach (there is access, just ask 😊) don't plan on lounging on this beach during your stay, but at 200 rupees from tuk tuk you can find the beautiful and deserted beach "Soma Beach" in Kovalam where you can also enjoy fresh fish specially cooked for you. Calm, calm, with a little Indian music in the background somewhere....great. The meals, the menu is varied, typical and everything is prepared to order and above all very good! The little canoe ride to access the restaurant adds charm to this hotel. The swimming pool is very nice, calm, and not overcrowded, which makes it a pleasant moment during the day. Finally, Ayurvedic treatments are really very pleasant, carried out by pleasant and passionate professionals. All this for a very good quality/price ratio. This resort is situated approx. 500 mtr inside from the national highway road, out of which approx. 200 mtr road is too narrow. Google map tricked us two times how to take the exit from the main road.
Reception, ayurvedic center, swimming pool etc. are in the main land while the rooms are in a small island type area, which is separated by a small river (hardly 50 meter breadth) before joining the sea. There is 24 x 7 traditional type boat arranged by the hotel itself. Parking space in front of the reception is limited, hardly enough for 5 or 6 cars.
Reception staff were friendly, the boat driver too. When you reach the room for the first time, you may have a feeling that the rooms are bit old and the surroundings are not as what you expected. But after some time, you will get acquainted with it and start to enjoy it. The (part) sea view from the rooms are good, in the morning you can see the views of local fishermen busy with their work. The "estuary" area is not so clean unfortunately. There is a way to the beach through the back side of the restaurant. Myself & wife used the ayurvedic center for full body massage, which was excellent and the therapists were professionally trained.
Restaurant have only limited options, but the food was ok. We have ordered tea & pakora for the evening and chapati & grilled chicken for the dinner, both were good and not so spicy or oily. Breakfast was enough with fruits, Idly, Dosa, stuffed poratha, omelet etc. and restaurant in charge (sorry, I forgot his name, Mr. Thampi or something similar) was very friendly.
Overall, I liked the resort and the atmosphere and suggest it to my fellow travelers, if you like a peaceful and silent place. Try to get the upper floor rooms of the resort for a good view.

Stayed at this beautiful resort for two days. The stay was comfortable and pleasant. Best part of this resort is they have a land hotel and an island hotel where we stayed so they have a boat to travel around. The room is spacious and has a balcony overlooking the sea where you can relax. Also, they have a separate area within the room for closet and changing. The food is tasty; they have chefs from Delhi and you will have to order two hours prior as they prepare everything fresh. Breakfast menu is lavish and you can also order eggs. The resort has also has a in-house physiotherapist providing ayurvedic massages who is humble and friendly.

I had been traveling around the north of India for two weeks and was looking for a relaxing break after the hectic pace of the well organised but strenuous tour. I loved my time in India and enjoyed the whole cultural experience but was ready for a rest. I found The Beach and Lake Resort by trawling through the web and had no previous experience or knowledge of the ancient wisdom that underpins this holistic form of rejuvination and therapy. I was very pleased with the professionalism of the consultants and supporting team and staff and the way everything was carefully explained to me before I gave my consent for any proposed treatments. The whole programme of prescribed diet, treatments, Yoga, meditation and Ayuverdic remedies, followed by my committment to the whole plan, meant that I achieved maximum benefits in my 2 week stay. Losing weight, feeling stronger, energised and very relaxed. The last day of my treament co-insided with the escalting fear and anxiety surrouding the growing threat of the corona virus. The local government health officials and our own government were urging us to return home immediately for our best intrests , but I felt that The Beach and Lake resort would have proved an ideal sanctuary from the chaos and fear that I have returned home to. I'm booking my return in December and will be exploring more of the South Eastern area of Tamil Nadu.

They have island hotel with sea view rooms and land hotel with backwater facing rooms . They have continous ferry service to transfer people from one part of hotel to another. Though they say beach resort , beach is not accessible from this hotel. you can view the wonderful beach.
They have greenery around and we could view some birds. They have ayurvedic treatment and massage facility available. Food is good and tasty. Staff was well mannered and service is good.

My stay here was nice. The superior deluxe room had a view of both beach and lake.
I was weighing more than 90kilogram and was looking for an Ayurvedic Resort.In Google I found a lot of places and finally I choose Beach and Lake Ayurvedic Resort.
That was the best decision I have made selecting this Ayurveda centre for a Panchakarma Detoxification programme.
Daily there was Ayurveda Dr consultation Dr Gowtham my therapist Shans all tried there best to give me a good result. The diet was good the food was also thirsty.
It was an incredible experience here and I will recommend to my friends looking for an Authetic Ayurveda Retreat for Rejuvenation, Slimming programme and relaxation

The beach is just next to the property, BUT it's not accessible. You can ask the hotel staff to take you to the beach by boat, but this is not a public beach, not family friendly, and the fishermen who stay there are very protective of it. My mother went there by herself one day and had a very uncomfortable experience. Apparently I'm not allowed to say what happened here on TripAdvisor, as TripAdvisor doesn't consider it being suitable to say on their website. The establishment of this place is beautiful and the service is great, but if you are looking for a place where you can relax on the beach, I would recommend you to look further, because this is not it.

Short NO! We bought beer and wine from govt shop, as we did for other places we stayed, but we were not allowed to drink it with our meal here, as they said it was an ayurvedic resort and not allowed. They did, however, allow us to drink it in our room, and were happy to provide bottle openers or open the bottles for us.
My package included the treatments. I booked the whole holiday with a travel agent in the UK. I would agree a price which included treatment and meals - most people do that. When you get there, they make an assessment and decide what treatments are best for you.
