This CGH Earth property is moored on a historic stretch of Cochin's famed harbour, The Brunton Boatyard Hotel was resurrected from the remains of a Victorian shipyard. Today, it gives the modern traveller a unique opportunity to dwell amidst the shadow plays of 19th-century history. 22 of the hotel's 26 rooms overlook the sea, and so, by happy circumstance, do the en-suite bathrooms. The Brunton Boatyard Hotel is your chance to dine from, literally, a melting pot. All the cultures that came to the Malabar Coast over three centuries can be sampled in a single evening. Armed with a map and some comfortable footwear, you can tour the historic Fort Cochin area where the hotel stands. Sadly, little remains of the fort itself, but the other legacies of history are everywhere.

During our visit to Cochin in March 2024 we enjoyed a dinner in the terrace grill restaurant of the Brunton Boatyard Hotel. After some local starters we had fresh grilled fish with Indian spices, a fabulous tasty dish, accompanied by a local white wine.
The service personnel was outstanding, our waitress Anagha did a great job in a great atmospere on the open terrace. She has been very emphatic and always having a smile in her face.
A very memorable evening.

We stayed here for two nights in a very comfortable sea facing room on the second floor, and were not distracted at night by the close proximity of a ferry drop off point. Ear plugs are provided if you need them, and don't be put off. The bed is huge and a hepful stool provided to assist with getting onto the bed which is very high off the floor.

All the staff are exceptionally helpful from reception through to dining and room persoannel.

We ate both nights on the outside terrace restaurant. The menu is all fish, which you select for certain courses, but you can see them prepare everything freshly. There is a good choice with fixed price platters available if preferred. Breakfasts are also excellent with most dishes to be ordered at your table as no buffet style.

The hotel is conveniently located for some chinese fishing nets which seem to cater more for tourists than actively fishing, but there are also small ongoing fish auctions going on as catches are delivered and bid on. Some interesting local historical sites are reachable, and the hotel provides a good map of the area to guide you around.

We were pleased to see that the charm of the hotel has not changed since a previous visit 19 years ago, and long may it continue.

This location was booked through Adventure World for a tour with Going Paces Together, Tours for Women with Nancy Walsh.
Well kept, clean and inviting with lovely courteous staff. The beds are absolutely enveloping, sinking into the mattress like a nest for weary travellers. And I’ve slept in many during my travels. I do bring my own pillow, but some of my group said that they were too high and fluffy causing stiff neck and headache. That’s why I bring my own pillow ;-)
The ferry next door rumbled often, but how often are you really in the room? In the evening if you have to go to sleep early, there are earplugs on the bedside table to use if you wish.
The food was excellent, the drinks were reasonably priced. I must make mention of a cocktail that I tried and I’ve never experienced anything like it.
The workers here are wonderfully attentive and answer questions and make suggestions for a pleasant stay. Dons mentioned a cocktail that I had never heard of with rum, oregano and lime. I’m up for something different so when I tasted this cocktail, dubbed The Vanrheede, myself and my friend were very impressed. Just enough Indian oregano to give it a savoury flavour yet the tart of frozen lime slush and sweet of the brown sugar rimmed glass gave it a two thumbs up in my book!
Best wishes to Binil who invented this cocktail, he should be acknowledged.
I would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a fantastic experience.🙏🏼

We last visited this hotel in 2014 - it was beautiful then and is beautiful still. There have been some changes, of course, but the warm and welcoming ambience embraces you from the moment you step out of your car and through your entire stay.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable with lovely little balconies from which you can contemplate the comings and going of the ferry on its short crossings, as well as the activities of the small fishing boats and the larger naval vessels and container ships. If the early morning stirrings of the ferry are likely to disturb your sleep, ear plugs are thoughtfully provided, but you will find that you will quickly adjust and accept as a contributory part of the hotel’s atmosphere.
The staff are so friendly and helpful that you almost feel that you are part of an extended family and it was a bit of a wrench to move on to our next destination.
The location of the hotel means that you can easily walk into the old town (or else take a tuk-tuk) and enjoy looking at the huge variety of lovely goods on offer or you can walk along the waterfront with its varied architectural styles whilst you enjoy the fresh sea breezes. One night is not nearly enough to take in all that this hotel and its environs have to offer but if that is all the time you have available, then don’t miss the opportunity to take advantage of it.

We stayed for two nights. It is extremely well located in Fort Cochi. You can easily walk to the Chinese fishing net area.
We had a lovely room facing the harbour front. Spacious, comfortable bed, good shower with a separate bath as well and nicely decorated.
Toiletries are provided and there is a hair dresser in the bathroom.
Breakfast is well catered and lunch is also available. Complementary high tea is provided along with a harbour sunset boat trip.
The food at dinner was excellent. We are vegetarian, but there is a good fish choice too.
The service throughout the hotel is friendly and helpful, but not overpowering.
There is much talk of the ferry noise in reviews. For one thing it's interesting watching the comings and goings. Next the ferry only operates from 6:30am to 9:30pm so doesn't really interrupt a night's sleep. Third it's actually not a big deal anyway and you quickly forget any noise.
Highly recommended.

We stayed in this Colonial Style Hotel for two nights during our holiday touring India and we could not fault it at all. The food was first class, especially in their patio fish restaurant where you can select the fish you would like, which is then prepared & cooked fresh. The bedroom was basic but very clean and comfortable. All the staff we met were attentive and very friendly.

The location of the hotel being in the centre of Cochin was an ideal base for sightseeing.

Would highly recommend this hotel....a great step back in time.

Cgh group hotels are our favourite hotels, we were in Brunton boatyard hotel, kochi.its a beautiful hotel by the sea, the sea facing rooms are more enjoyable.staff is very polite and helpful. We came in November but it feels safe as the staff keeps sanitizing everything, also rates now are very reasonable basically perfect time to enjoy such a beautiful ,peaceful property. We had an excellent stay. Peacocks comings to the property and we got to see them too. Rooms extremely clean , beds are comfortable and sparkling white. I love this hotel as they dont use plastic even in bins, many other details speaks about what it stands for , eco friendly.

I visited Brunton Boatyard with my family for a get-together after ages of being at home due to COVID and the tumultuous time everyone was facing. I can’t help but say that it was the best choice I made this year!

I have always loved Brunton for its historical ambience, amazing view and warm hospitality and I was pleased to see that everything was the same with an added service of sanitisation following COVID regulations.

I had opted for a day package. We were first properly sanitised and taken to the restaurant for some delicious evening tea and snacks by the beautiful backwaters. We then went on a boat(which has much of a history of its own) to take a tour of the backwaters while watching the sunset. It was a very relaxing and refreshing experience. Post the boat ride, we were seated at the lounge of their deluxe room which is spacious and has a balcony that overlooks the waters - perfect setting for a night of dinner and drinks and a great ending to a fun and relaxing time with family.

I would like to end by saying that I undoubtedly and genuinely recommend that one should take a break and go to Brunton for the package(or stay- which would be even more pleasurable) be it with their friends, family or partner and make the most of it while one can. I, for sure, can’t wait to go again! :)

Thank you Team Brunton!

An exotic holiday resort located in the heart of Fort Kochi. One can't fail to comment about the beautiful back drop with its attractive boat ride leaving a remarkable view of the Malabar Coast. The hotel in itself was beautifully maintained and spoke volumes of Kerala's luscious greeneries. Not to miss the Brunton Team with its outstanding hospitality. The team work and team spirit was impeccable. The sea facing deluxe suite rooms were top notch and strictly practicing the Covid-19 regulations. The complimentary breakfast was superb. We had a memorable holiday. God bless the team at CGH. Hats off for making our stay incredible!

Warm smiles welcomed us on our arrival, check in was smooth and prompt helped a long with a refreshing fresh fruit drink and cold towel.

On to our room, spacious with a balcony over looking the harbour. Nice super king four poster bed, bathroom large and well fitted.

Staff friendly and attentive, on our first night we dined in the hotel at seafood restaurant rooftop alfresco dining. We choose our fresh fish which was on ice and watched it being prepared for our meals.

The food was of very good quality, accompanied with an Indian red wine which was surprisingly good.
We think the overall price for food and drink was a bit on the expensive side seeing where we were. £23 for the wine is a little overpriced.
Kingfisher 660ml beer was 450 rupees.
Over the road a mere 30 metre stroll and the went down to 250 rupees.
Overall general stay was pleasant, but the hotel lacks a nice space to relax with a coffee or beer.

The ferry operated from around 07.00 to 22.00 and was quite noisy because it's right next door to the hotel but didn't interfere with our stay too much.
