We had a pleasant stay at Barath guest house. We were there in last week of September 2019. Owner whose name is Sewang is very kind, helpful, down to earth and genuine. Rooms are spacious and clean. We had an amazing experience for food which was made by Sewang's mom and never felt like away from home. If it had a 6 star rating i would have done it.

In the rough terrain of Ladakh, Barath Hotel is like an oasis. It is well located, within walking distance of the main market & restaurants. The facilities are basic but the rooms are spacious and the overall atmosphere homely. Very importantly, there was hot water in the taps throughout the day. However, there is no lift in this 2-storied hotel, so stair-climbing can be difficult even for the apparently healthy. It takes at least 48hrs to acclimatise and be able to climb to the 1st floor without getting breathless! What leaves an indelible mark however, is the warmth & friendliness of the host family. Tshewang is always available to help, guide and accommodate. This is what makes this hotel special. And as a bonus – the food is superb! Don’t forget to try the Khichidi.

Having stayed at this place three times in a short space of time, and enjoying all three of my experiences here, I can say with confidence that this is a great hotel in Leh. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The bathroom is, like many others, one room with no shower curtains so make sure you keep most of your things outside of the room if you use the shower as things will get wet. Can't comment on wifi as I didn't use it but it is there if you want and others with me said that it was fine most of the time. The guys who run it are brilliant and will do anything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The hotel itself is located on Fort Road which has plenty of shopping opportunities around 10 minutes walk up the road from the hotel. It is about 20 minutes from the Main Bazaar and 45 minutes to get to the Palace or the Stupa so for some, you may want to find places further up the road but given the quality of the place, I think the walks are worth it. Brilliant service and accommodation. Thanks!
