I visited Diu with two other female friends and we decided to stay here purely because we were fascinated by the idea of staying in a church. And Sao Tome definitely delivered on its promise. The view from the rooftop was magnificent and we had breakfast there everyday and spent wonderful long nights admiring the views. It's the highest view...

I arrived with 2 friends and all the rooms on the roof were full so we stayed in a large room around the back of the building. It was a little damp and basic but it was super cheap and had a great feeling/energy to it. This place is one of those budget guest houses in India where you arrive,...

Always a wonderful stay at Sao Tome. If you can cope with out luxury then this is the right place for you. No better way to start the day than on top of a Church that holds the highest view point on the Island!!!

The place is well located, from the top is has a great panorama on the town and is not too pricey. Woman with Portuguese sounding name was a great host, always smiling and ready for a small talk. The time I checking in a bunch of backpackers (even non guests) were enjoying barbecue at the top of the church, I...

Located inside St Thomas Church the setting and the view are what give this place its magic. It could be cleaner and the hosts could do more to make it great, it has such potential. I've stayed here more then ounce and the people I've met and the times I've had I will never forget. Sure there are cleaner and...

The experience of sleeping in a deconsecrated church was really fun. The room was basic, but nicely decorated and you could really see the preexisting church structure. The view from the church roof/dome is breathtaking, especially at sunset. The owners are super-friendly and nice and it is a good place to meet fellow travelers. Of course, sleeping in a church...

Quirky India at its best - unusual rooms in the side of a disused church now a museum, has a wonderful balcony just below the church roof level where fellow travellers congregate and swap tales. Ascend a little higher and you can see the best views in Diu from the very top of the barrel vaulted roof. When enough people...

We choose this place because it sounded like neat place plus promised Wifi AND every other day BBQ. Yes it could be a charming place, nothing a little elbow grease and more personable staff couldn't fix. The bathroom was filthy and the towels reeked and sheet was suspect. The wifi wasn't working and all we got from Isabel, who's in...

Some reviews have knocked this place, which I think is unfair. It is budget accommodation at its best, and with the unique twist of being a converted church! You will not find better views anywhere on the island than you get from the rooftop. There is a full 360 panorama of Diu from there and it is an amazing suntrap....

“There are small and very cheap rooms on the rooftop, with share bathroom. They looked like comfy, but hot. We choose another, bigger room on the first floor. It was more expensive (800 Rs per night at that time) but very spacious and fresher. On the same floor I saw another big room, don't know the price, but I suppose it must be almost the same.”
