Decent for budget travellers, I wouldn't want to stay on Tahiti for more than a couple of nights but if in town this is a good option if you want out of Papeete. Clean, serviceable and functional rooms. Down side is road noise but this...More
Spent three wonderful days here. Totally simple, with fridge, hot plate for cooking, if wanted. Start your day by walking north to the boulanger for excellent croissant and pan au chocolat. Then have the pension breakfast.
There is loaner snorkel equipment, but we had our own....More
After about a 15 minute drive from the airport we arrived to this pension. Vincent, the owner, was waiting for our arrival on our evening flight. He was friendly and pleasant, and showed us to our room with a rundown of important information. Our kitchenette...More
I agree with other reviewers that the rooms are very basic, with the only amenity being super rough towels, but if you have clear expectations, then it's not a problem. Bed was comfy but bring earplugs as this pension is on a busy street. The...More
The rooms are all facing the pool, all looking very tropical. The rooms are basic, but clean and convenient. Parking on-site also was a plus. I enjoyed having one of the nicest public beaches right across the street.

When we visited Pension de la Plage Tahiti in December, 2016, transportation from airport to pension on arrival and pension to airport on departure was arranged by the pension. Not sure if it was included in basic room price or not. Generally, public transit in French Polynesia is unpredictable. If the bus is already full, it will drive past you and one never knows when the next one might come. Pension de la Plage is quite a distance from Papeete which is the main centre. On other Polynesian islands, hitch hiking is part of the culture and next vehicle to pass you will give you a ride. No one just drives by unless their vehicle is totally full. But, I don't recall seeing people hitch-hiking on Tahiti Island. Car rentals are expensive in Polynesia and be prepared to pay $100 per day. We rented a car for just three days on Tahiti and also rented on Bora Bora, Tahaa, Huahine and, Moorea. Find this to be good value. 4x4 excursions are available on all the islands, including Tahiti. Majority of times, one sees the back of a small truck with seats facing each other. So, you get a sore neck from twisting around to see the scenery but, what you see most is the people sitting across from you. Rental car, you have nice air conditioning and you go at your own pace with front window view.
