The Cathay is a step back in time with its grand piano and sofa in the lounge area to the rooms basic setting. It a budget accomdation which gives you the basic things[ like kettle and tea stuff and bar fridge and air con , TP was provided but other toiletries were not and your towel if you needed one...

Very unprofessional rooms were not ready until 4pm check out at 10am. Rooms were filthy ceiling fans had thick dust on the blades and were hot and stuffy, broken tiles leaking taps and dirty walls. Unfriendly service and we were not advised if there was breakfast available and it was served up till 9am. You are also charged to use...

I have stayed in Lautoka many times, but always passed this hotel by, for some reason. But I am a budget traveller and I thought I would give it a try, as it has dorm rooms and a pool. I am not sure why it is so empty, it had almost everything I needed. For $25 Fijian a night I...

This place has it's reputation for being cheap. I would only recommend it to backpackers or budget travellers. The standard room I was in for one night had one double and a single bed, mini bar fridge, kettle, window aircon, bathroom. Towels are not complimentary you have to make a deposit of FJD$10. The only thing I find uncomfortable is...

Cathay Hotel did not blow my mind, but it was a good stay. My partner and I stayed here for 2 nights in a four person dorm room. There was a few nice fans and our room was very clean. We spent most of our time by the pool which was very clean and basically just for us. The facilities...

I think reviewers were a little harsh. We stayed 2 weeks in a double room with a group, plenty of room, the fridge worked, so did the aircon (noisily) and what does it matter if you need to pay a deposit for towels- they were changed daily. The main topic of conservation was the water, will we have hot or...

When I stayed there, they had a blackout because of a cyclone. So I went to bed much earlier than usual. My room was located by a road with a lot of traffic even in the evening. Also, a night club was just across the road and it was very noisy. The worst thing was, some staff were chatting just...

If you can avoid staying in this place good on you. It was my second stay after a few years. Nothing has improved, dirty rooms, houskeeping forgoth teacups, and even sugar in the sugar city. They put clorine in the pool at 3 pm and we could not use it all afternoon. They ask for 10 $ deposit for a...

The services and room condition of Cathay is pathetic. I was told that the rooms are renovated. But renovation is an under statement. The aircon was from the 19th century and dnt cool at all. The room smelled musty and the bathroom was covered in dirt! A very cheesy place. DON'T GO THERE!
