We stayed in the 4 bedroom cottage which can accommodate upto 12 people. We were total of 12 people .We used Daku resort as a family reunion .Resort had basic kitchen facilities,Hot water wasn’t working but resort staff very quick to resolve. The staff were very helpful and quick to respond to our needs even though at times we went above and beyond our request. Few essentials that I think should be included in the 4 bedder is a laundry which is a must especially after a trip to the beach and pool .Also few TV in the cottage would be great .Overall great resort
Set within walking distance from Savusavu town with a peaceful view of the bay, Daku was the perfect spot for me when I returned to Fiji. There is always something happening at Daku, and the staff are very knowledgeable and approachable - they'll point you in the right direction for activities and excursions. Comfy bed with a view of the bay. I found they handled the new CFC procedures smoothly and efficiently, I felt very comfortable.
Daku resort sits directly opposite the water for easy access for any water activities. Diving or snorkelling can be organised by the Daku staff. The interesting Kokomana chocolate farm is right next door, and many other activities are close by. It is a leisurely stroll into Savusavu town, where there are some nice places to eat, including the Copra Shed Marina which has great food and a lovely view of the bay. The staff at Daku are friendly and the resort itself is good value for money, clean, relaxing and quiet. We really enjoyed our stay and would certainly go back.
We really enjoyed our 4 nights at Daku. The staff were great, they organised for us to go snorkeling from the nearby Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort, arranged for taxis for us go into town and a tour of the nearby chocolate farm. We only had to ask and they did what ever they could. There was a bit of confusion about our pick-up time from te airport - Fiji Airways kept changing our flight times - but a quick call to the resort and they were there. The meals were great at Dakyu and it was only a short taxi ride to the good variety of eating/drinking places in town. Our villa was good, with a private pool and a kitchen with two separate rooms/ensuites- we were a group of 3 adults and the villa worked well. There was no wifi in the rooms but there was good connection in the dining/reception area. The resort is not 5-star but instead it is comfortable, friendly, convenient with great staff, lovely hosts and excellent service. A great base for exploring Savusavu.…
We stayed at Daku for 8 nights. It provided wonderful opportunities to relax, wind down, mix with interesting people and undertake activities. Highlights were snorkelling, eating both within the resort and at some great local restaurants in Savusavu (the food at the Surf and Turf in particular was a highlight), getting to know Delia and JJ, visiting a local farm, floating up and down a stunning river with the incoming and outgoing tide, visiting a local waterfall. The staff at Daku were sensational - nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend this as a wonderful Fiji experience.
While we were content to spend the big bucks diving at nearby Jean Michel Cousteau Resort, we really weren't interested in their equally high cost all-inclusive too/board rate, so we found Daku Resort, a 5 minute drive away. It was a good decision. Whereas the Cousteau resort specifically caters to families with kids, Daku was much more quiet. The room was what we expected for the much lower price and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They stayed one night a little past dinner time to cook us a snack (actually a heaping bowl of fries!!). They gavels good recommendations for restaurants in town and assisted with taxis. Big pool and plenty of public seating on the premises. Very pleased!
Although no longer in the industry, as a Travel Agent I have reviewed properties all over the world and found Savusavu a hidden paradise. Daku Resort commands an outstanding position looking out across breathtaking Savusavu Bay to the jungle covered peaks. The resort provides spacious accommodation, wonderfully attentive staff, free use of kayaks and snorkeling gear and fabulous food at a fraction of the cost of other resorts. The location is ideal as it's just outside the town, so quiet, but close enough to take advantage of a number of great restaurants that offer outstanding value for money. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Daku Resort to both couples and families wanting to experience the real Fiji. We will certainly be back.
I've stayed 9 days at Daku and I've had a most enjoyable time. The staff are friendly and always helpful, the food was great ( I ate all my meals there), the sea was 50m away and the views were breathtaking. Will I return ? Absolutely.
When I arrived at Daku I did not know what to expect as a solo (F28) traveler, especially since it was my first time in Fiji and during Covid. I felt well cared for and had such a lovely time. My bure was clean & bed and pillows were comfy and I loved the outdoor shower! They scheduled my Covid swab for me and answered all of my questions/provided advice whenever I needed something. Daku's location is great - it's about a $4 FJD taxi which the front desk was always happy to call for me or about a 15-20 minute walk. There is also small library that contains only books about Swiss auto parts (just kidding! There are some classics available). It was also very easy to schedule a massage, which I really enjoyed. I think the only thing that would have enhanced my stay would have been wifi in my bure, but it really wasn't a big deal. The wifi down in the main area was strong & there were great views. I went scuba diving with Koro Sun during my time there and it was an easy drive away. For a solo traveler on a bit of a budget, I couldn't have been more pleased with Daku. On my last night there, the owners, JJ & Delia, asked some of the guests to join them for a really lovely dinner. I also had the opportunity to chat with both JJ and Delia on separate occasions and they are such vibrant people. JJ, Delia & the Daku staff treated me like family and reminded me of why I love traveling so much. Thank you Daku for such a wonderful stay - I can't wait to return!…
We checked in to their Infinity Villa on 23rd Dec and found that the pool and rooms were not cleaned. Upon request the room service was done way too late in the afternoon. The pool had too much chlorine added. There was water disruption as well which was inconvenient. The next day we went out at around 9am and advised the receptionist that we are going out and if room service could be done and if the pool could be cleaned again. We returned at 3pm and nothing was done at all!!!. Their excuse was shortage of staff but it seemed that since the Infinity Villa is far away from the main resort at a hilly place they were just LAZY. Very disappointed at their services.
