Koro Sun Resort garners high marks for its impeccable cleanliness and the warm, attentive service provided by its staff, which greatly enriches guest experiences. While some guests consider the resort pricey and have pointed out additional costs, the quality of meals often softens the blow. The resort's amenities, including a range of water activities, dining options, and the Rainforest Spa, are frequently lauded, though the Wi-Fi can be hit-or-miss. Rooms are commended for their space and cleanliness, yet a few guests suggest they could benefit from modernization. Overall, the resort's tranquil, inviting atmosphere with its distinctive Fijian charm makes it a celebrated destination for special getaways.

This place is definitely a gem and I'm so glad we found it. Kind of took a risk regarding weather when we went in early November but as it turned out, the weather was perfect for the whole two week stay and the storms that were forecasted daily didn't actually come in until the day after our departure. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and were the highlight of the trip! The particular package I had purchased included only a simple light breakfast that was adequate, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the available options for lunch and dinner were both excellent and reasonably priced. Equipment like kayaks, snorkel gear, and bicycles are readily available for guests, and a variety of local trips and activities are scheduled throughout the week. This particular resort doesn't offer specific fishing charters, but if there's water nearby I always have my 3-piece travel rod along with me and in this case I'm glad I did. After the daily snorkel trip is finished each day, arrangements can be made for them to take you out past the reef on the motorboat so I was able to get my much needed fishing fix - they were even happy to cook up my catch in the kitchen and I have to say they did an amazing job! One thing I would STRONGLY suggest however is to spring for one of the ocean front rooms as the mosquitoes farther inland were expectedly savage in the evenings but were not a problem at all near the ocean. We stayed in one of the cozy floating bures and the experience was amazing! Thanks again to everyone at Koro Sun!

My daughter and I visited this resort for 3 nights and from the moment we stepped foot on their property we were treated with warm and inviting staff. When we first arrived we were welcomed by 3 staff members who sang and clapped a welcome song for us. We then were given a cool towel and a refreshing drink. They explained everything about the meals and resort ammenities and then received a foot massage while we waited for our luggage to get to our Bure. So many activities to do on the property from snorkeling, diving, kayaking, culture activities, games etc. that we were never bored. Food was delicious and enough variety. We were in a waterfront bure and the room was incredible! Clean, inviting and spacious with amazing views. Unfortunately, we were suppose to stay 4 nights but due to a cyclone headed to the island we choose to leave a day earlier. In preparation for this all the staff and manager kept us well informed of the weather and Beth was a huge (HUGE) help to me in changing my flights. This was a stressful for me knowing we needed to pay change fees, and make travel arrangements a day earlier than expected but Beth was so very helpful and eased the process!! Thank you Beth!! I can't say enough about the staff during our entire stay. They all smile and greet you and you never feel that you are a bother. We felt safe while snorkeling/diving and truly enjoyed visiting with the staff about their culture and famiies. We hope to have another opportunity to visit Koro Sun!!

Seems like we hit the mark with you in every aspect of your expectations, we are pleased you and your daughter had a great time. You have made reference to Beth who assisted you with your travel arrangements during that difficult time of the expected cyclone. Beth will be pleased with your mention in regards to her assistance. We travelled to Koro Sun with our 10 yr old daughter mid January 2020 and would certainly recommend it. It's the perfect combination of stunning blue ocean and awe-inspiring rainforest. There is a feeling of being in the "real" Fiji and not in a built up resort. From the moment you arrive, you feel you are part of the community. The staff here are amazing - this is something I read in reviews before we travelled, but they by far exceeded my expectations. Everyone remembers you name as well as the little things, like putting extra chili in your omelette or how you take your coffee. In addition, the manager was very on-hand and ensured all the guests were up to date with cyclone bulletins when there was a warning for the island. We had to leave a bit early and didn't get a chance to thank all the staff for their amazing service, so a belated thank you to you all!

Bula Cruiser41904049926. We are delighted to know that you enjoyed your stay with us albeit interrupted by a Cyclone Threat. Certainly, the Northern part of Fiji is very different from the rest of the country. We agree that it feels so much more relaxed and slower-paced. We are glad you found that to be enjoyable. We are also pleased that you found the staff 'amazing' as we do also. They will be pleased to read your review and the comments directed towards them, thank you. Safety is always paramount for guests and staff when the threat of a cyclone is around. The team are well prepared for such events and making sure guests are kept up to date with conditions, as it helps keep everyone calm. We are sorry you had to cut short your stay with us but thank you for taking the time to write your review. From All Staff and Management, we wish you Best Regards.

was really excited to check out koro sun resort after seeing the pictures online but were sorely disappointed: our overwater bure faced a lagoon with stale and murky water, there was no wifi provided and the breakfast that was "provided" consisted only of toast, fruits and some cereal - not what you would expect for the high price you're paying. website even boasted a few food options but when we were there, the other eateries were closed and we were restricted to only 1 place. the service, however, was exceptional tho, which made me wish i had better things to say about this place.

Bula itsawanderfiolife. Thank you for your review of your recent stay at Koro Sun Resort. We appreciate your feedback and thank you for taking the time to write your review, albeit disappointing for us. Unfortunately, we cannot control the Oceans including any debris that the tides may wash our way. Generally, this clears itself on the outgoing tide. The resort states that WiFi is available in public areas. However, I am pleased to advise that, WiFi is now available free of charge throughout the resort, including the waterfront accommodation. I think we need to clarify the breakfast you make reference to. This is a 'Free' continental breakfast for those who eat lite in the morning. It does consist of dried fruits and nuts, a selection of cereals, fresh fruits, yogurt, a selection of bread, muffins, preserves, fruit juices, tea, and coffee. For those who wish to have a cooked breakfast, a full breakfast menu is available to choose from and charges apply. I apologize for the lack of eateries, but due to the downturn in business, it was not economical to run all venues. We did, however, offer menus from other locations when they were closed. I am pleased to read that the service was exceptional. Once again, we apologize for not meeting your expectations and from all staff and management, we wish you our very best regards.

Bula,
The Koro Sun Resort Garden Burra 2 bedroom were clean, comfortable, and have separate shower and bath tub. Housekeeping provided clean towels and cleaned Bura daily. Staff were friendly. Made friends also staying at Resort. Resort was good place for me to experience Fiji. I had no Expectations, was open and got a little what can be described as “Fiji” on and inside on me.

An amazing property spread over 100s of acres, from the sea to up in the hills, with various accomodtion options (one bedroom, two bedroom, kitchenettes, villas); overlooking the garden, or a lagoon, or the sea. They offer a daily meal plan, as well as an la carte menu from the restaurants

We had a one bedroom garden bure, which was very comfortable, spacious, and well laid out. The bure had good lighting, electrical plug connections, a minibar fridge and kettle for tea/coffee.

The restaurants have a range of food, with five or six mains that are changed every day of the week. The resort offers a meal plan (full btreakfast, lunch, three course dinner), as well as the a la carte menu. Guests need to indicate their choice of meals (both for the meal plan, and a la carte) by morning for lunch, and by 2:00 pm for dinner.

The meal plan may seem pricy, but includes additional breakfast options (eggs, juices, coffee, smoothies, etc), and a three course dinner (entree, mains and dessert). So if you plan to have a full breakfast and a three course dinner at the resort every night, then the meal plan would make good sense.

If you plan to have an occasional meal outside the resort, or not a three course dinner each night; then the a la carte option is the way to go. Strangely, the resort forces guests to sign up for the meal plan for their entire stay; you cannot choose to be on the plan for a few days of your stay; which is what we'd have liked to do.

All eth food we had at the resort was fantastic; well presented, generous, and flavorsome.

Activities include a dive shop, snorkelling, kayaking, paddle boarding, tennis courts, golf, evening fire dancing, as well as excursions to a village/waterfall, etc etc. All dive shop activities are costed, and many of the resort's other activities are free. A schedule is available, as well as a daily updated blackboard with details. But beware; the schedule may not align with the blackboard; so its best to check which is correct

The staff are very friendly, and helpful. The activities staff (Andrew, Manu, Una, others) were great.

A bonus is that they also provide airport pick-up and drop-offs (thanks Shekar).

Be aware that there is slow or limited Wi-Fi in the rooms (comes and goes); and that there is no sandy / swimming beach at the resort.

Brought my dad, 2 cousins and my uncle for a visit. Upon arrival to the hotel was very beautiful. We checked in and we’re met with unfortunate news. The large room I booked was not ready even though we got there after the checkin time.

They took it on themselves to “upgrade us” to a smaller room that wouldn’t accommodate all of us.. They said it was because they assumed we were a couple and we would have a better experience on the other side of the resort. I think they did this because they try not to use that side of the resort and the room we booked was bigger so more work for them to clean. I only booked for 2 people originally but 5 of us decided to come.

Happily told them I’ll pay the extra guest fees and was told the charge would be like $325 but she would only charge us $220 extra like they were doing us a favor.

Mele the front checkin managers tone changed after this. I guess we inconvenienced them since they setup the other room with our approval. They should of set the original room then asked if we wanted the upgrade after. My cousin saw something was happening and came over. She rudely told him she’s in a meeting and not to talk to her.

They said it would be 1 hour to get the room setup. We said no problem. After more then 1 hour I checked and they said 30 more minutes. When I checked back after the 30 mele said I was yelling at her and I told her we were gonna have a bigger problem if they didn’t speed up the process and we would find other accommodations.

We were angry and it felt like they just kept delaying. Asked to speak to her manager. Instead she walks me to the farthest room to show me that the people were cleaning the room. They must not clean all the rooms or have them set because it looked like they put us furthest room on the property. I still wanted to her manager who was an even bigger joke. Lazy man with no shoes. Came stumbling over instead of being sympathetic that we had been waiting for hours he tries to blame us for not making the correct reservation. The problem was they should of set the room we ordered then asked if we wanted the upgrade.

None of us drink. He didn’t try to make it right by offering us a beer.lol

This place is overpriced, the customer service is bad. It’s not a resort that is customer service oriented.

Spend a little bit more money and go stay at a real 4 or 5 star resort.

Bula and greeting Shayal Your issue occurred when you booked online two pax into a two-bedroom lower-priced room. Our reservation officer thought, as we had availability, it would be nice for you and your other guest to be upgraded to the Edgewater Bures, But alas the 2 pax was 5 grown men on arrival. Our mistake for assuming. As the reservations officer had already upgraded you in the system... your original two bedrooms, with two double beds, was held for service and was not ready on arrival. Our two bedrooms are priced for two pax .. for every adult guest over the initial price there is a surcharge, which was not acknowledged with your booking, as you stated on your booking it was 2 adults only arriving. Although it took time to prep the room you required, and we humbly apologized for the delay, we did offer refreshments tea, coffee, beer, wine, and snack, as one does when a guest is inconvenienced. Being on a day off I was passing, wearing a T shirt and Jandles, heard about the situation and approached you, polightly, and after being emotionally verbal towards me, and fortunately the help of your uncle to calm the situation down I was able to asertain what the issue was, we managed, through your wonderful family to calm the situation, and very soon after you were settled into your room. We did follow up speaking with your relatives who said it was only a bed to sleep... as you were out for the night and leaving by 6 am, and all was fine .. they nicely apologised re the particular situation, and we about the confusion. Re a few personal observations, you had contact with the reservations and myself who worked as quickly as we could to resove this unfortunate mistake you made in your booking, and our mistake in trying to please with an upgrade, the customer service could never been questioned, only a booking error and confusion from an incorrect booking made by yourself. You went to your room, left the resort, I was able to speak with you relatives at this point, you came back, slept, leaving by 6am in the morning having no further contact with the team at Koro to qualify our service... we would have loved to have had the opportunity to do so. We are sorry again about the confused arrival, but wish you well, and please give our regards to you family ...In the mean time a big vinaka vakalevu to to you all for choosing Koro Sun Resort .. From all of team Koro.

Overall I had a very nice stay at Koro Sun. The staff was amazing friendly. The grounds are well-kept. The activity options were ok (I chose rainforest hike and hardline fishing; I wished I'd done some kayaking in hindsight). The room was satisfactory. One of the highlights was the once-a-week buffet at the L17 restaurant .. get there early to get a seat though! And enjoy the performances by local folks.

But....

I wasn't super impressed by the food. I had fish in coconut sauce that was pretty good, but I wasn't impressed with the chicken curry. And the restaurant had a ton of annoying flies. Maybe it was that time of year, I don't know.

The WIFI was available in lobby only, and even then it wasn't great (but the lobby has great big couches that are pretty cool).

I stayed in one of the garden bures... In hindsight I think I wish I'd splurged for a waterfront bure. Not sure.. I didn't see inside the waterfront ones,.. but the location sure looks cool.

Bula Dannyboytravels. Your stay at Koro Sun Resort was nearly 7 months ago, so not sure if it's a late post by yourself or from Trip Advisor. But thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are delighted to know that 'overall' you enjoyed your stay and found most things including the staff to be amazingly friendly. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and of course, we are sorry that you did not partake in more activities at the time. I am pleased to advise readers that we still have our local buffet called a 'Lovo' along with the entertainment group. Sorry to hear that your Curry was not to your liking but you enjoyed other local dishes such as the fish in coconut cream, This is a very popular dish with most guests. With the flies, unfortunately we do have issues certain times of the year and apologize if you found them over annoying. The overwater bures are of course more expensive but do offer so much more in location and comfort. Thank you for choosing to stay with us and from All Staff and Management, our very best regards.

I stayed solo at Korosun Resort for a week in January 2022 and had such a wonderful time. It’s certainly better to stay off the main island and Savusavu is a perfect location.

Korosun has done a wonderful job of bringing the hotel back to life after being closed for two years due to Covid. The highlight at Korosun was the staff, they are all so incredibly kind and helpful, and all go above and beyond for anything a guest needs. The dive shop and activities are also fantastic. You will not get bored. I did my open water certificate, so was diving most days as well as some snorkelling. The great thing about Korosun is the dive sites are no more than 10 minutes by boat from the front of the resort, and there are three trips daily. We saw stunning water life including turtles, sharks, dolphins, barracuda and plenty of fish. The food was pretty good, particularly the seafood, and I loved the Friday night cava ceremony. The rainforest spa is also divine, the masseuse was very talented and the rainforest location with a creek running by was purely magical. I’m leaving this holiday extremely relaxed, with great diving stories, fond new friends and wonderful memories. I can’t wait to return ASAP.

The golf course and some other amenities need more work but there’s still plenty to keep you entertained. Don’t go here if you expect perfection, but do go if you expect a warm and welcoming experience.

We absolutely LOVED our stay here!
We stayed at Koro Sun in April and were so impressed. The rooms were beautiful,we stayed in the overwater Bure, which had views of the trees and ocean, and was perfect for night stargazing. The food at their clubhouse was great, would highly recommend going with the local seasonal items as opposed to more American fare (burgers/steaks) as the fresh fish was always wonderful. We didn’t get any treatments at the spa but we did tour it, and the waterfalls were absolutely stunning.

The staff at Koro Sun (have to have a whole paragraph about them) we’re so so wonderful. Truly they made our entire trip. Everyone was so helpful and was always making sure we had everything we needed, and it was amazing learning so much about Fijian culture. I have truly never experienced such warmth from people who have just met me. We will 100% be back.

Best things to do:

1. Snorkeling with ocean Ventures
2. Lovo dinner and village presentation
3. Waterfall hike
4. Cocomana chocolate factory
5. Coconut demonstration
6. Cava ceremony

These were just our favourites but there are so many cultural and nature experiences available.

Some tips if you’re headed there:
-There are lots of mosquitos in the rainforest, and the soaps they have at the resorts are all scented. Bring a bar of unscented soap and bug spray.

-Water hiking shoes (not water shoes, not hiking shoes). Because of the humidity sneakers that get wet will not dry and things get slippery. Bring waterproof sandals with some grip and good ankle support.

-Sun protection for snorkeling: if you plan to go on a snorkeling trip, bring a swim shirt, sunscreen will not cut it.

Bula Lynn, the step is covered in water during high to mid tide and then just below the flat stone during low tide. You will not have an issue entering the water no matter which tide you decide to go in. Can I recommend you bring reef shoes with you so that you can enjoy the wonderful snorkeling straight from your room. Enjoy your stay Vinaka.

It’s just a very short walk. There is a main road but very very little traffic on it. I would say it’s a minute walk or maybe 2 minutes max. See if you can request an Edgewater Bure close to the road as that will shorten the distance. Hope this helps and enjoy your stay. You will love it there.

We stayed in EB5 which was wonderful. There is a fridge and tea and coffee making in the room. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash etc is all supplied as is a dressing gown and slippers. Bug spray is available from the restaurant but I would take my own. It is a fabulous destination. If you get the chance take the tour into Savusavu markets and go to the local church service. Enjoy your time there.

Bula Cathy, Thank you for your enquiry. They are not on stilts but are built on a strip of land that connects to the mainland; the floating bures are within the calm wide lagoon facing each other and the edgewater villas and bures face out to the reef and ocean. Have a look on our website to see the scrolling images on our home page.

"Bringing some Fijian $ in cash is useful. (Your bank may hit you with eftpos fees, otherwise there are banks in town to get cash). Eftpos is easy to use."
