Sleep Quality
Popularly known as the best beach in Savusavu, Sigasiga Sands is not your typical "resort". We have most the amenities of the larger resorts. Yet, it is much more peaceful and private here. The pristine location and convenience to town (15 min drive) exceed most guest expectations. Bus/taxi services easy and affordable. Most guests don't rent a car. The Swimming Lagoon is a 5 minute walk down the white sand beach from these beachfront cottages. World class snorkeling a 15 min walk out at low tide or snorkel out at high tide through 1m/3' of water. The 116 acre property includes a road and trails through virgin forest and creeks. The 17 acre beachfront section with old and young coconut trees amidst colorfully landscaped grounds includes lily ponds like a real Park. Each cottage is decorated uniquely and feels like home. Your nice kitchen is fully equipped. When you're not in the mood to prepare your own meals, enjoy delicious Indo-Fijian Cuisine room service delivered.

We (2 adults) spent 6 nights here and loved it completely! Seahorse Bure has unrestricted view of beach, is well designed with a great shaded balcony, a very comfortable bed, electricity, fan (air con but we didn't use it), hot water, shower. We understand it was renovated in the past few years and it shows! Great beach, very private, good kayaks, and although the bure has a full kitchen, we often opted for yummy home cooked Indo-Fijian meals through our host (very reasonably priced!). Cannot walk to anything so plan on taxi if you going to town or else rent a vehicle (Budget in SavuSavu was good). Only downside is we did not find the 'house reef' very good here (we were spoiled by others we had visited elsewhere in Fiji). Would definitely return!

This is one of the best places I have stayed in Fiji, and I have been to Fiji many times for work and vacation. I had moderate expectations on arriving (I was on a work trip to Savusavu), and I had originally only planned to stay for a few nights during a business trip. I ended up booking through the weekend as well, given Sigasiga has some of the best snorkeling, from a gorgeous cottage, on one of the most beautiful beaches in Fiji. What more can I say? If you have your own snorkel gear, and a reasonable amount of experience in the water, this place is perfect. You can walk to the reef on the low tide (and could probably swim on a high tide, though would be a long swim!) Because the reef has an inner and outer portion, with a lagoon between, the snorkeling was relatively protected, even though the weather wasn’t perfect during the time I was there (weather is rarely good in December). In fact, that is one of the reasons why this place is so great. I have stayed at expensive resorts on Kadavu or Taveuni that had nice housereefs, but that were much more exposed in rough weather. I was able to enjoy this reef even in rainy, windy conditions, and it was exceptionally good! Even children (ages 7+) could easily snorkel this reef, though would need to have adventurous parents as it is a long walk over uneven coral and a deep lagoon (but great for pelagics and reef sharks as a result). I did go on a daytrip to Namena for a bit of variety, but the reef here is just as good - with no cost or long boat trip required. I stayed in the Seahorse cabin, which is the nicest and newest, but has only one bed (best for a single or couple). The other cabins, which are part of the original plantation, are older and set back from the ocean, but are perfect for families with loft space and second bedrooms. It isn’t a luxury resort (self-catering) and you will get the usual ants and cockroaches that come with life in the tropics. The power and internet also worked only sporadically (life in Fiji) and the backup generator was out of commission so I had no power for several of the days I was there, and never managed to get good internet in my cabin. But who cares? The place was great for independent minded traevellers, the caretakers are lovely and will make amazing Indian food for a reasonable price if you don’t feel like cooking. So if you aren’t looking for a full-service resort, and like a bit of seclusion and privacy, this place has it all… I will be back (don't like resorts and this was so much better!)

Beautiful spot on a long mostly desert idyllic beach. Beautiful turquoise lagoon to swim in at low tide or walk out (this is quite a distance) at low tide to do some snorkelling.
Seahorse Bure is great. Really well set out.
It also has a fantastic top quality mattress which we appreciated.
There is quite an extensive menu which is prepared pre-ordered and delivered to your bungalow by Subash.
We loved the food and would highly recommend ordering off the menu.
We also loved the convenience of having a kitchen.
Things I would have liked:
We were connected to Subash via WhatsApp which was great. Subash was good for all things on site. This is, however, a very isolated part of the island. No shops nearby. You can eat at Korosun (was ok but can’t use their facilities any longer).
We would have appreciated being connected to Gene (the owners) mobile like as well and help with transport and activities outside of Siga Siga.
Operators were not easy to contact and often didn’t reply. We subsequently stayed at another resort who made these bookings for us and arranged transport. This made a big difference and we would have missed out on experiences which were the highlight of our trip.
Additionally, while the white linen and sheets were spotless, there was only one pillow per person. The coverlet with matching pillows looked dirty. We needed the coverlet when it was cool and the extra cushion to read or sleep.
Also the kitchen had most of what needed but could do with an overhaul eg pots with no lid, no colander to drain pasta etc.
Outdoor areas mostly just plastic sitting chairs and a hammock.
Would be great to upgrade.
This place would be perfect with just a few small tweaks.

We are fine with rustic & have stayed in many types of accommodation in Fiji (basic, mid-range & luxury), so we do not have unrealistic expectations. However it is clear that Sigasiga Sands markets itself as something that it is not. It is 3 cottages by the beach, on a much larger property that presumably they are trying to sell to people to build on (certainly not an inviting ‘hiking trail’ as advertised). We arrived in Savusavu & due to a last minute cancellation from the resort we had booked (due to rain & road conditions), booked Sigasiga via Booking.com for that day (2 nights). We arrived and were told there was no booking, despite us showing the evidence of booking (&payment). It turns out the Manager (who was overseas) only sends the caretaker (Subash & Sunita) the booking details 1-2 days before & cannot manage last minute bookings , so why on earth they accept bookings on major booking sites (it was available on booking.com, Airbnb & hotels.com) for the same day makes no sense. Later that same day, other guest arrived who also had booked the same day, so they clearly have a problem with their management processes. The caretakers got our cottage (Vonu) ready for us, however it became apparent that almost all the lights did not work, nor the fans. It was extremely dark even during the day (it was overcast & rainy weather) and we had to rely on a solar torch for lighting in the evenings. The shower also had no hot water. We had breakfast included with the room booking (basic stodge of pancakes & a tiny bit of golden syrup & the ‘fruit platter’ was half an apple per person), and they didn’t even serve us breakfast on the second day, claiming only the first day breakfast is included (despite this clearly being accommodation for 2 nights with breakfast included). After complaints they grudgingly provided a very late (& burnt) breakfast. We also asked about kayaks, & were told to go to get the oars ourselves from the other cottage (where people were staying at the time), and that we would need to
remove some wood panelling from the underside of their cottage to access them. We said it’s not appropriate for guests to be invading other guests privacy like that. Very little caring, certainly no professionalism. It’s a pity because the quiet location on the beach is nice, but the experience was completely ruined by the people.

Dear Lindy, Thanks for taking the time to unload your frustration. While we do accept 'last minute' bookings, it may sometimes catch us at a not-so-convenient time, as yours did. We are only a small 4 cottage retreat. We do not have 24/7 office or staff. As soon as we got your booking, we tried to alert the resident staff. But you had already arrived. Then the staff contacted us and we approved your arrival. This was only a matter of minutes. So just because the staff was not aware of your booking at your arrival, it was sorted quickly and we proceeded to tidy up the cottage for your immediate occupancy. A little patience on your part was necessary which apparently you did not have. I don't undertand about no lights. The other 3 cottages were occupied and there was no issues with them. Perhaps you could find the light switches? There are 16 lights in this small cottage. There may have been a couple burned out bulbs. But you shouldn't have had any trouble finding your way around. And if you told the staff, they would have gladly replaced any bulbs that were out if you asked them to do so. However, I admit that ALL the bulbs should be working at CheckIn! Very sorry about that. I have talked with the breakfast staff and made it clear to them that a breakfast platter should certainly include more than you say you got. I know that now our breakfasts are included for nearly all Guests and they are much better than they used to be. Again, my sincere apologies for their shortcomings on this. There is no excuse for why the staff told YOU to go get the kayak and paddles. They normally pull those out for our guests. I have reprimanded the staff for this apparent error in judgement. Perhaps they were under stress about something else and simply thought it would be easy enough for you to grab them. This would not be a difficult task for most people. To remove the wood panelling is a simple lightweight panel that hides the paddles. By the sound of it, I would recommend you stay at full service resorts that have full time, more professional, highly educated staff. Ours is a more humble place out in the country of laid-back Savusavu where too many expectations tend to lead to disappointment. Most of our Guests understand this. We had thirteen 5 STAR Reviews in a row immediately following your visit. Same staff. Before your arrival, there were seventeen 5 STAR Reviews and one 3 STAR Review. Wishing you the best in all your future travels. Kind regard, Gene

Lovely serene spot for a relaxing family holiday away from the usual touristy areas in Fiji. Good value for money and responsive helpful hosts both before and during our stay. Bablu is a great asset in terms of getting around if you don’t have a car, with a wealth of local knowledge and arranged a fantastic snorkeling experience. Subash and his family are very helpful on site and can provide tasty meals at very reasonable prices. We would stay again…

Finally achieving fully booked statue after two years this place feels like Ohana. When we checked in there was a connectivity issue with the Wi-Fi but owner Gene corrected it immediately. We booked the Vonu cabin - bedroom, living room, kitchen and shower, with A/C. Ample kitchen appliances, we cooked all our own meals. On site staff Subash and Sunita were anxious to be of service. This property has been in Gene's able caring hands for 12 years and the grounds show his love. Each unit is distinctive and not in view of other units. The coral reef offers cool tidepool action and snorkeling opportunities. Very restful week.

SigaSiga Sands is a lovely place to stay for a relaxing break in Fiji. We attended a week long event at a nearby conference centre (which was an easy 25 minute walk mostly along the beach!) so very convenient. The property is right on the beach and the gardens around each secluded villa are lovely & well kept. Savusavu town was a short 15 minute taxi ride away; and 10 mins from the airport. SigaSiga Sands were very helpful in organising taxis with their regular driver, and were very responsive to any queries we had. The caretaker & staff were friendly but unobtrusive. There are a wide range of meals available cooked to order (if you choose not to self-cater).
The Cottage was well appointed and very comfortable. I would absolutely choose to stay there again & would recommend SigaSiga Sands.

Siga Siga is our happy place. Our first stay was in 2009/10 with our then 10 and 11 year old kids. We stayed for four and a half months homeschooling and exploring the reef and the Savusavu area. We had such a wonderful time that we've returned four more times, most recently in 2023.

The grounds are beautiful. The beach is divine. The reef is heaven on earth if you're a snorkeler like we are. Adventurous explorers have an outer lagoon full of critters to explore - turtles, sharks, rays and so much more. Granted we've visited the place a bunch, but we've managed to see creatures that one only typically seas while scuba diving off shore.

Lodging options are basic at Siga Siga, but they include everything you need to have a restful and restorative stay. Internet has only improved over the years and the hosts are lovely and responsive. Multiple bures of various sizes also make it a great option for extended families.

If you are looking for a swanky resort (like you'd find in Denerau), this probably isn't the place for you. But if you are looking to relax, explore and just "be" in a laid back, safe and chill atmosphere, then Siga Siga is the BEST.

"My Review If you are looking for a slice of paradise look no further! This little tiny house sits amongst 3 other larger cottages on a beautiful landscaped acreage. You have access to white sandy beaches, hammock and chairs are available around a firepit to enjoy looking out at the ocean at night. If you want to explore this secluded resort you are walking distance to a beautiful lagoon or cross the road to do a small hike. The views are gorgeous. The place provides a menu with room service. Gene the host or Subash onsight caretaker are just a phone call away. Unlike other VRBO you have actual contact with the owners to take care of any questions you may have, any excursions you want to take and they also will arrange a taxi to and from the airport. I can't thank Gene enough for a wonderful stay!!!"

We loved Sigasiga Sands so much. We stayed in the Seahorse cottage which had the most beautiful view of the beach. The resort is so quiet that we hardly ever saw other people, it felt like a remote private island. We especially loved being able to take the free kayaks out to the sea, it's sheltered by reef so the water is nice and calm. We were able to see lots of sea life in the reefs as well. Aside from the beautiful surroundings, the staff were amazing. There is an extensive breakfast, lunch and dinner menu which we ordered from, with staff bringing meals to our cottage for us to enjoy on the balcony, looking out at the beautiful view. The cottage itself is equipped with a kitchenette for home cooking if preferred. I would highly recommend a stay here for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. We loved Sigasiga Sands so much.
