It appears very few reviews come from cruisers. This marina affords easy check-in access, laundry, restaurant, access to the local town plus land and water excursions. Biggest issue-The bathroom facilities are in dire need of upgrades.

A popular and well known place in Savu Savu town where the marina and yacht club is located. Good food either for breakfast lunch or dinner. A quick snack also fine. Deck has great views of the marina and yachts anchored.

Although I've reviewed this establishment as a hotel, it isn't. I feel a closer description would be "Serviced Rooms", a category TripAdvisor doesn't have.

The Copra Shed Marina in Savusavu is located right on the waterfront and as close to the centre of town as one could reasonably wish to be. Among other services the complex houses a marina, a couple of eateries, (The Captains Cafe is pleasant, clean and reasonable value) travel and excursion agencies, an internet access office and the Savusavu yacht club which welcomes visitors into it's bar.

There are two self contained air-conditioned ensuite rooms located on the second floor. I stayed in one of them for three nights in December '09 whilst pottering about Savusavu. The room boasted a television which apparently doubles as a large screen for your laptop (I didn't try this feature.), a telephone for receiving incoming calls - you'll need a phone card to use it for calling out - and is stocked with the normal tea/coffee making gear. There's no swimming pool; this is a serviced room not a resort and no fridge in the room so if you need to keep stuff cold a little ingenuity may be called for. My room was beautifully clean and well maintained so it was a pleasure to return there each evening. It was also surprisingly spacious. There is evening security so if you plan a late return let the security officer know or, in my case, a bang on the gate should bring him out.

A couple of points to consider: they don't take credit cards for payment, cash only, which seemed a little odd. The "Amenities" tabs I've clicked are pertinent to the Marina complex itself as well as the room. However all in all, a pleasant establishment. I've given an overall rating of 4/5. Inclusion of a fridge, a pretty basic item, would probably tip it to 5/5. OK, so I'm pedantic.

Air conditioner didn't work no one in the office to report to. TV only had fussy reception. It's was about 90 degrees in the room and the windows didn't stay open. There was a ceiling fan but didn't help at sll. Plus they charge us 150.00 for a night in Hell!!!!!!

….A GOOD BASE FOR A SIMPLE TRIP ASHORE.

The reviews below this are NOT from cruise-line visitors. Which makes me think that SAVUSAVU may be a bit off the beaten path for cruise ships. But given the success of our visit I think this may change.
Anyway, we callled here on a recent MAJESTIC PRINCESS visit, and I followed my usual routine of forgoing the expensive cruise-line shore excursions (I am a world-class cheap skate – plus I cruise mainly to enjoy the ship, not so much for the destinations) and simply getting off the ship to stretch the legs and check the immediate scene.
I was not disappointed:
Firstly, COPRA SHED MARINA where the ship’s tenders put in is a pretty decent place. A good restaurant, a cool bar, several shops selling the usual touristy stuff, a spacious and relaxed beer-garden featuring plenty of seating, shade and a band (there was another band playing on the arrival verandah), some nice paths along the waterfront, a proper marina with cool craft for small boat nerds and several places where you could sit and drink in the attractive water scene.
Secondly, locals had market stalls for about 100m along the main road immediately outside (to the left facing inland). These too had the usual touristy stuff, plus excursion-sellers were flogging their products at maybe half the price of ship bought excursions.
Thirdly, the town’s main street starts just past the markets. Reminded me of an Aussie country town circa late 50s – well worth a wander.

After that I strolled back to COPRA SHED, grabbed a beer from the bar and sat back on the outside veranda checking the passing boats. Sweet.

The Copra Shed Marina in the centre of Savusavu is hidden gem that few tourists know about but is world-renowned amongst yachties. Although mainly a shopping and office precinct, the beautifully restored 19th century copra wharf has 3 very comfortable air-conditioned suites upstairs that provide a wonderfully cheap a superbly located place to stay for a night, a week or longer. Downstairs the Captain's Table is an excellent mid-priced restaurant (with the cheapest locally-caught lobster you'll ever enjoy) while it's junior sister the Captain's Cafe is great for breakfast and light meals. The Savusavu Yacht Club is on the premises and the open bar is a great place to meet the delightfully eccentric locals and visiting yachties. The modestly priced Wi-Fi connection can be picked up from out in the anchorage by most yachts. Thoroughly recommended.

I met my son at Savusavu and we stayed on his yacht at this marina. It's not luxurious but it had everything you need and it is quiet. We were on the marina ( not Moored ) so it made it very easy to get off the boat and have a hot shower, use the toilet or have a beer in the garden. It also boasts a restaurant and a cafe. There a supermarket across the road and up a bit. So everything is withing easy distance.

We and a very enjoyable dinner at the Captain's Table resturant. The food was very nice and the waitress was very friendly genuine person. They had a nice covered deck and inside space as well. We really enjoyed it and would return again.

As a pair of world cruisers we stay in many marina's with varied levels of enjoyment. The Copra Shed Marina certainly stands out as one of the very best. Whilst the marina pontoons may not suit everyone at only 7m in length they securely handled our 16m yacht, whilst having an open and beautiful view along the river and across to the mountains. There are also many mooring buoys in the river. I guess the only negative is the limited power and water connections, however the marina fee's are very competitive and the service we had in terms of arranging clearance was one of the best we've encountered.

The Copra Shed Marina facilities include a good bar (always a necessity for us sailors), reasonably priced restaurant & separate cafe and small chandlers. There's also a band on at the weekends and the town is only a very short walk away.

I'm sure we'll be back when next sailing through Fiji

We found the Copra shed on a hot and humid day and were we glad we did. At the Captains Table restaurant you can sit overlooking the water but under fans and grab a cold drink or lunch. The menu is comprehensive and always offers fresh fish as well as authentic Fijian curries. The ice creams are to die for especially the ginger and also the coconut. It is open 7 days and we had dinner there as well as lunch twice and were never disappointed.
