The Resort sits on a hill overlooking the ocean, just a few minutes drive from the (tiny) Matai airport. Free transportation is included. It looks like the set from a tropical movie. Beautifully landscaped grounds. Fresh flowers in villa. Eco-friendly. We had a HUGE secluded and romantic villa with private patio, comfortable king bed, indoor and outdoor showers, coffee and tea, fridge. All meals were included with a different menu daily and multiple 3-course options for all diets (including vegetarian). Fresh baked muffins in the morning were fabulous! Everything we had was fresh made, used local produce, and delicious! Kitchen, restaurant, and bar staff all fabulous. A small infinity pool overlooks the sea as well. Snorkel gear is provided at no additional cost.

But the staff is what makes this place special! They were always ready to assist with a smile, and almost anticipated our desires. They advised us about local places to trek, swim, snorkel, and visit, and arranged our tours and transportation. They even served our dinner in our villa at our request. A special mention of Naomi and Raymond who we interacted with a lot. The expat Kiwi owners, Ric and Do, are famed scuba divers and live on-site, and it was fun to chat with them.

Resort staff arranged all of our local activities. We did the Lavena coastal walk, which we highly recommend. Wear your swim suit to visit the falls and cross rivers, and plan on a full day. Gabby led us and was so knowledgeable and helped us with a hand when needed. We also snorkeled Rainbow Reef with Julie at Taveuni Ocean Sports, and visited the International Date Line (a geek's must-do!). Went into the main town, but not much there. Joel was our driver throughout, a great guide and super nice guy.

One caution. Taveuni, and most of Fiji, as cash only. Aside from our Resort bill, we needed cash for taxis and local tourist sites, but there is no ATM or EFTPOS machine. Plan your expenses and bring cash.

Taveuni Island Resort

The best place to stay on Taveuni!

It occupies a great location overlooking the sea and close to the small Matei airport. The bures are beautiful, spacious, clean and elegant, separated by green expanses of lawn and flowering bushes. The food is well prepared and delicious, and the views from the dining area are both breathtaking and serene. The staff are professional, friendly and always helpful. Ric and Do, the long-time owners, are on site and available for advice, a good story, or otherwise to make sure their guests are taken care of. They know the area extremely well. Both are members of the International Scuba Diving Hall of Fame, and discovered some of the most desirable diving areas in Fiji. A perfect place to relax or to launch an adventure!

We collected from the airport just a short drive up the road from the resort by a friendly face - this was also a free transfer.

On arrival to this beautiful resort, we were welcomed by all the staff singing to us! We also experienced the same lovely personal touch on leaving the resort.

The lovely Kiwi couple who own the resort were very welcoming and have lived in Fiji for most of their lives. They and their fabulous and friendly staff went out of their way to tend to our every need.

The rooms are unique and facilities included both sizeable indoor and outdoor showers, air conditioning, veranda with loungers, fridge with milk and tea/coffee making facilities.

The infinity pool was lovely, situated looking over the beach with amazing views.

We really felt at home with the staff and other guests and even made friends with the owner’s friendly dogs and cats.

Inclusive food was very good quality, plentiful and varied, considering the limited access imported fresh food.

We’d return without hesitation… maybe after some saving up!

Been going to TIR annually for over 15 years. The staff is always good-natured and caring. I frequently walk the spacious grounds, as it is landscaped to beautiful tropical perfection, and quiet to boot. I have never had a meal that did not delight. Much of the food is locally grown or raised, I once even toured the nearby farmer suppliers. With massages available, a pool, classy spacious suites, and a dining room facing the gorgeous Western horizon (for Fijian sunsets), TIR is always a pleasure.

Unfortunately, not the best place to stay in Taveuni.
This resort has some of the most amazing views and is in a lovely location it could be an amazing resort, just the management didn't really seem to care about the resort, and it filtered through to every part of this resort.
We stayed 7 nights over New Years Eve.
The Spa was not equipped to do even do a basic pedicure and I booked in for a massage to be told they were not doing massages today then booked for another day to then be asked to move my appointment because church was on that morning. Turned up to my appointment to be told someone had taken my spot and to come back later, when I finally had my massage, it was not the best and the bure was so hot inside it was like a sauna.
The resort charges 15% of the cost of the activity they organize for you, so we organized everything ourselves as we thought that was cheeky.
The air conditioning in our room was not working well to the point there was not much point having it on.
The food was ok it was not of the standard we have found at other smaller island resorts in Fiji.
New Years Eve was not at the resort as we were told by staff that the owners were elderly and they didn't want any noise. We were offered to a local restaurant but as one of the reasons for booking here was so we didn't have to go anywhere.
There were no special cultural nights or even a kava ceremony for the guests while we were there which I found very unusual for a Fijian resort.

Incredibly friendly hosts, great dive teams, delicious food and comfortable bures. Taveuni Dive Resort has all of this and more. The resort staff greats you by name upon arrival and helps with the airport transfers (friendly driver too!). The diving was spectacular (I especially loved the outer reefs) and the dive guides/boat crew safe and knowledgeable. They provided thorough briefings and described highlights to watch for (sharks, unicorn fish, nudis, shrimp & gobies, Trevally, eels, etc. Healthy, diverse reefs thriving with life (amazing soft and hard corals in a riot of colors!) The food at Tavenui Dive Resort was exceptional- well beyond expectations and options were plentiful for vegetarian guests. The Lodge grounds were simply beautiful with colorful well-tended landscaping, birds (blue herons, mud pies, etc) and a few cherished dogs (owner’s pets). I loved the bures. Lovely inside and out with large comfy beds, beautiful wood work, stucco and flooring. Not a single mosquito made it through the screens or windows. Carl and Murien were accessible and helpful with any questions or needs (Carl fixed a small leak in my bcd within seconds, and was super flexible with dive/guide requests). In short, I had a wonderful 6-day and can’t wait to return. Highly Recommended.

We had mixed feelings about this place. We splurged for a luxury spot to relax and recover from the long flight before starting our dive trip. the cottages were amazing and had great views but in serious need of maintenance. we brought the owner Do over the first morning to let her know that the air conditioner did not work in the bedroom and several lights were out. She either forgot to tell the maintenance people or they just didn't show up. We again told her the following day and told her it was quite hot in the room at night so we'd appreciate a fix. Later that day they said nothing could be done and perhaps we should move to another unit. We decided that was too much work for our last night but we never got an apology or any nice gesture for our troubles. This is not a luxury resort, it is a resort past its prime. We felt it was overpriced ($600/night) . The food and staff were lovely but we did not enjoy swimming in the pool with their pack of dobermans crashing in and joining us. WE would not recommend this place, it's overpriced and not maintained.

Taveuni Island Resort & Spa is an exceptional gem in Fiji that leaves visitors awe-inspired with its unparalleled care, commitment, and top-notch service. From start to finish, my 18-day journey across various islands in Fiji was a memorable experience, and Taveuni Island Resort & Spa proved to be the crown jewel. The staff's dedication to ensuring our utmost comfort and satisfaction was evident in every interaction, making us feel like the resort was exclusively designed for us.

The resort's grounds boast breathtaking views overlooking the vast ocean and Vanua Levu, providing the most magnificent sunset vistas from each room, villa, bure, and dinner table. The bure was immaculately cleaned and maintained daily, and the outdoor shower provided an invigorating touch of luxury. Relaxing on the covered lounges on the patio, gazing out over the waters, was a tranquil and unforgettable experience.

The pristine pool, always kept in perfect condition, offered a refreshing oasis to cool off and unwind. For adventure seekers, a delightful path leads down to the beach, boasting incredible snorkeling opportunities. Moreover, the resort's local guide would happily arrange boat excursions, offering a fantastic way to explore even more of Fiji's natural wonders.

Notably, the resort's chef is a culinary virtuoso, elevating the dining experience to new heights with each meticulously crafted meal. Every dish presented was a masterpiece of care and pure artistry, a symphony of flavors that delighted our taste buds and left a lasting impression of culinary excellence. The combination of the breathtaking scenery and the chef's culinary prowess truly made dining at Taveuni Island Resort & Spa an unforgettable delight.

Taveuni Island Resort & Spa stands out as a true paradise, where dreams become reality. With its impeccable staff, picturesque views, outstanding amenities, and extraordinary culinary offerings, this resort is undoubtedly a destination worth cherishing and returning to.

Taveuni Island is known as the Garden Island in Fiji, and this resort, located in a privileged spot at the sea edge, offers the most amazing views where you can enjoy the most stunning sunrises and sunsets from your beautiful Fijian style bure. We stayed in the Veidomoni bure/cabin, full of comfort, generous space, and tasteful decoration. The outdoor shower is a great feature for enjoying nature in perfect privacy. Every evening, they prepare your bedroom, close the windows, and turn on the AC and the lamps, creating a pleasant ambiance while you are enjoying a delicious dinner.
The couple that owns the resort are fantastic hostesses, always taking care of every detail of the resort. The staff is the friendliest people willing to help whenever you need them. They helped us to coordinate our different tours, from transportation to packing our food for a picnic and even having people from the resort stay with us during the tour. I recommend asking for all the information about the tour, including prices.
The three meals a day are included, and the chef creates a variety of great options on the menu, including soup, salad, fresh seafood options, or another no seafood option, with a tropical yummy dessert. We had an unforgettable time in this resort and plan to come back.

My wife and I just returned from our week long Honeymoon at Taveuni Island Resort, and it overwhelmingly exceeded our expectations.

We stayed in the Lomalagi Villa, which had a panoramic ocean and garden view from every room and from the expansive patio. The villa itself was beautiful, clean, spacious, and luxurious. From the beautiful canopy bed to the outdoor shower, we did not want to leave the villa and spent many hours lounging around together.

We are almost every meal at the resort, and as others have already mentioned, the food gets 5 stars on its own. So many delicious soups, and entrees ranging from chicken kabobs to blackened fish and much more.

We also took advantage of the spa and booked a couples massage, which was the perfect way to relax after a day of diving.

Lastly, the staff and owners are all so friendly and down to earth. They do a variety of roles around the resort, and their efforts show through the service and consistent beauty of the resort. Ric and Do are so sweet, it was an absolute pleasure to interact with them. Shoutout to Storm and her team for an awesome guest experience, and shout out to Raymond for amazing service and helping us book some special activities.

Through our activities we visited a few other resorts on the island, and I always felt happy to return to Taveuni Island Resort each day. I highly recommend staying here if you are planning to visit Taveuni!

Hello, yes that is correct. They have two two seaters right by the pool. Another two seater is placed much further away from the pool on the cliff facing the ocean. If the resort is full there is no way it can accomodate all guests. Happy to answer any other questions. Cheers
