The only reason why you would want to visit this island is: swimming with turtles, rays & small sharks. Magnificent sunset but once the sun is down, you can’t sit outside any longer as there are millions of mosquitos who are going to eat you alive. To the lodge itself: Although Erika and her mother are very nice ladies, this...

The lodge is very well laid out with all of the rooms having views over the bay. All of the rooms also have air conditioning a good sized shower and toilet area. The story behind the Wittmer family is fascinating and is told in old photographs in the dining area. Very pleasant and helpful staff made our stay here worthwhile....

This lodge has beautiful views of the sea from your room. Every room has a view toward the beach and snorkeling cove. The lodge has a history. It is run by the granddaughter of one of the original German settlers. There is also a mystery about the Island, which I leave two readers to discover. You can see Giant Tortoises...

For those who have not travelled to Floreana island, the first thing to understand is that the population of the entire island is between 200 and 300 people. Thus, many of the comforts of larger cities or towns should not be expected and travellers expectations should be adjusted accordingly. That said, although I would give this an average rating, it...

Of the three inhabited Galapagos islands that I visited (Isabella, Santa Cruz, Floreana), Floreana was my by far favorite. To a great extent, this was thanks to the place where I stayed: Wittmer Lodge. The lodge is run by Erica and Ingeborg Wittmer, the granddaughter and daughter of one of the very original settlers on Floreana - the German family...

We only stayed here for one night as part of a 12 day land-based holiday on the Galapagos. I could have stayed for several more! A really quiet spot, with a good beach for swimming and snorkelling, lots of wildlife (well iguanas, sea lions and crabs!) and birds. Excellent food. Room was perfectly adequate with chairs outside facing the beach....

I love this place! I disagree with the bad revriews. I had a great time in the Wittmer Lodge and the owner is so nice and helpfull. She prepares good meals, way to much for me though. She speaks englisch and even german. The hotel has a small museum about the history of the island. Since het grandparents were one...

We stayed here as part of a tour for two nights. It's amazing beachfront location, quiet, and the meals provided were lovely, as were the Wittmer's. But the cockroaches & scorpions in the room each night definitely dampened our experience. Also the bathrooms need maintenance. Obviously

Stayed here as part of a tour group for one night. This was a tough review, as there are very few places to stay on Floreana and the location is great, but overall, this place was a disappointment, mostly due to unclean conditions. Located on a beautiful black sand beach, you can fall asleep to the waves crashing outside your...

This hotel (?)/ lodge seems to be the only one on Floreana (or at least in this part) and you certainly get the Galapagos Feeling there! The rooms ( which are all in low buildings near the beach) are very simple and ugly and not very clean BUT the Black Beach is directly in front of these cottages, you can...
