Wow! What an incredible experience! The cabins are a bit off the main road, and they are right on the water, facing the sunset! You can drink the water, and there is free wi-fi all over the island, and you can enjoy those benefits here! Each cabin looks out onto the water, and there is a black sand beach just...

The island of Floreana has approximately 120 inhabitants, so don't expect luxury here. However, this is what makes this island and hotel so wonderful. There is no TV or WiFi because the hotel is run off of solar power. Turn off the fan or A/C and open the doors & window wide to allow the soothing sea breeze to lull...

This is all about the experience. The Floreana Lava Lodge is a group of very rustic wooden cabins including wooden floors with twin beds. Each includes a private facility including shower. There are window air conditioning units but the cross ventilation works even better. And besides, who would want to cramoflgue the sound of the surf just a few yards...

A beautiful setting, a row of wooden huts along a boardwalk right by the rocky shore. For weary travelers, this was like camping, which is OK if one is prepared for it.The one overhead light didn't work when we arrived just as it got dark. Although there was a window A/C, there was not adequate electricity to run it. The...

A complete highlight to our trip in Ecuador was the two nights we spent at Lava Lodge with host and owner Claudio Cruz. The accommodations are rustic - but it's really all you need because you spent most of your time outside exploring the delights of the sparsely populated Floreana island. Claudio was such an engaging host - but speaks...

What a great little lodge. The cabins are small but cozy. They only have twin beds, but they are still comfortable. The best part is that there is nothing around them. At night we had they best view of stars that we have seen anywhere. In the morning we went on a walk along the rocky shore and saw 6...

I did not want to leave this place! I was part of a tour group which traveled here for one night. I could have spent a week here, relaxing, hiking, snorkeling and taking photographs. It was amazing. The cabins are small but so comfortable and i had a great night sleep to the sounds and smell of the near by...

A basic hut with twin beds, a small bathroom, a/c and fan (although we preferred to leave the windows open and let the sea breeze and nature sounds blow through) and a single chair out front from which you can enjoy the view. It was very nice to awake to the sound of waves and then walk down the wooden...

This place really is a treasure! Small well kept huts on the beach! The breakfast is served in a covered outdoor area with views across the pacific. I really was very impressed with the quality of these little huts. This Island is completely worth the journey, unspoilt, unpretentious and beautiful. We ate with the owner on one evening! The snorkling...

The cabins are delightful and the location is incredible! Waking up to see sea turtles popping their heads above the water and Galápagos penguins fishing was just paradise. The cabins are clean and the beds comfy. The breakfast was delicious and although the tree tomato juice wasn't to my taste it's great to have so much local food on offer!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Floreana Lava LodgeFloreana´s fascinating story and the desire of the local people to offer a more relaxed , more enjoyable and environmentally sensitive kind of tourism, is why Tropic has chosen to launch its new Galapagos adventure here. Together with the local community and the owners of ‘Floreana Lava Lodge’, and under the supervision of the Galapagos Authority, Tropic has created a new program designed for visitors who are looking for something out of the ordinary, who will understand the value of slow tourism.Located in Puerto Velasco Ibarra (named after a five times president of Ecuador) Lava Lodge is owned by members of the Cruz family, one of the Floreana´s oldest. The hotel is a comfortable lodge with top class service and the best of friendly local hospitality, built on black lava sands at the ocean´s edge: one of the best sites on the island. Situated only 5 minutes walk from the centre of the village, Lava Lodge is also only a few steps from the ‘lobería’ where visitors can watch the islands famous sea lions in their natural surroundings. ServicesThe 10 independent cabins are each equipped with 2 twin beds (bunk beds for up to 3 people are also available). Each ocean front cabin has its own bathroom, front porch, a reading and shady area to provide privacy and enjoyment of the outdoors. The lodge also has a common area where guests can relax together and savor a welcome drink while enjoying the striking Galapagos sunsets. ... more   less
