Recently returned from this absolutely Amazing eco hotel. We was here from 21st May to the 27th. May I say thank you to the whole experience. We had our symbolic wedding all organised by the team at the hotel. Nothing was to much trouble. We would like to thank Jorge for the attention he gave us making our stay amazing. Food fantastic and freshly made to order. We stayed in the marital Lodge over looking the private beach. Stunning place to stay. It's an eco hotel so if you want modern hotel facilities such as WiFi etc. Then your in the wrong place. For those who wrote poor reviews shame on you as you have not embraced what this hotel is about. If you want peace tranquility and want to forget the world then this place is for you. The deluxe bungalow overlooking the Carribean Sea is exceptional. It offers absolute privacy and is truly a truly amazing experience... together with a small private pool ideal to relax for drinks. Service is perfect, and dinner can even be served in the deluxe bungalow. Of course, we chose this option during our 2-night stay. Staff are kind, helpful, and professional. A memorable property to stay at, which I would highly recommend. The only negative is that there isn't a fridge/minibar in the bungalow.
A must have experience for travelers coming to Palomino/Santa Marta. Eco Hotel means, everything is efficient/solar powered. Don’t expect AC or WiFi or hot water. The lush green of the lands and solar power provide this place with everything it needs. Alexandra, the most adorable and helpful host, along with everyone on the staff is reason enough alone to visit. It has a private beach where my husband and I stayed in the Casa Del Mar, with hammocks on the balcony. The food offerings were not our usual taste but they accommodated us very well. We took part in the Don Diego river tour which also was a must do!! Love the little family of Rhodesian Ridgebacks as well!
We had an amazing tour of Finca La Jorara! We saw turtles, baby plants being readied for planting, many types of fruit trees including bananas, plantains, mangos, papaya, cacao, oranges, mandarins, avocados, and many more. The best part is, these were all being used to supply the kitchens because this farm is also a hotel. The farm seems to be organic and sustainably managed by two farmers (one of whom was Jose, our guide) with so much heart and love for the land it was inspiring. We were also able to taste coconut water directly from the tree, and many different local recipes for bananas and plantains of many varieties. We also helped plant some new banana trees and avocado trees. The best part of the tour was meeting our amazing translator Andres, who was also so full of knowledge about the farm, the local Palomino scene, and an expert on environment farming and sustainable practices. Jose, and Andres were very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions about sustainable agriculture practices and the history of agriculture in Colombia. What a great learning experience! Overall, I highly recommend this tour, a great value for the money. As always, make sure to specify clearly the price beforehand so there's no misunderstanding.…
We spent a few days here in October 2019, and it was magical. From the very knowledgeable and extremely helpful owner to lovely staff, this hotel has real heart and a warm-hearted atmosphere. Plus, there's lots to do, from the natural pool with built-in waterfall, to the beach, walking up the hills, planting trees, feeding the tortoises - the kids loved it. The rooms are beautifully decorated and the use of local materials is great to see. And it's sustainable. Not only does it have a very low carbon footprint, but the way it works with the local indigenous people, its gentle footprint on the land, and focus on nature and the farm is very refreshing. We learned a lot, and loved it.
In February 2019 I spent several days at the finca La Jorara and it was definitely my best hotel experience in Colombia so far. The finca itself is located near the small town Palomino and not far from the bigger town Santa Marta which makes it easy to take a day trip to both places. It is best though to spend your stay at the finca and enjoy both the wonderful setting in a magic place with the nearby beach (2 min walk) and benefit from the various fascinating experiences (tubing on the San Diego river, discovering of the indigenous tribes, planting of new trees, cooking sessions, just to name a few) that are offered to the guests. The food was always delicious, always freshly served. The fruits are from the own farm and opened a world of new flavours to me. The hotel and rooms are very well maintained, the design is modern/rustic. Above all, I would like to emphasize the overwhelming friendliness, the utmost dedication of the whole team and the heartwarming atmosphere that welcomed us at La Jorara and surrounded us during our whole trip. I warmly recommend the finca La Jorara to all travelers who consider a trip to Colombia because it will top your expectations. Definitely a "jewel in the jungle! :)…
Being after 2 weeks after my trip to Colombia I find this hotel as the most pleasant for my whole trip. I was little worrying after reading the comment that it is too loud because of the close highway. For us it was not a problem at all. Nights are rather quiet. The hotel is in the very nice park. For me very important as you can take many too my surprise good pictures of birds. There is the bench in the park and the birds are simply around. From 15.00 till 17.30 in really good light. The beach is 5 minutes walk from the hotel but you can not swim there because of possible current. You must simply go under the bridge. The restaurant was good with very good breakfast. We got big rooms in the house which was further from the road. The manager help us to organize the trip to Los Flamencos Nature Reserve. You can also ask for the morning walk with the guide in the forest on the local hills. WiFi was available in the restaurant area. In the end the staff helped me to start my car when the battery went dead...…
We spent a week at La Jorara with the intent of seeing a more rural part of Colombia as well as getting in some serious relaxation. La Jorara delivered even more than that. There were several days where we never left the property -- our room was spacious with two hammocks hanging right outside for naps and reading time. Since the property is full off-the-grid, electricity is a precious thing. Rooms were not air conditioned and there was no hot water. We knew about this going in so we were fine (but the cold water showers were really cold!). Ivan, Andrea and Jefferson spoke great English and more than took care of us. These rest of the staff was fun and very good at their jobs. Breakfast was lots of fresh fruit plus eggs or toast. Lunches and dinners were well prepared, tasteful, and hit the spot. It was a special week for us and we already miss our La Jorara friends.…
Had an amazing variety of hummingbirds, found howler monkeys, swam in the natural pools, beach we also found a beautiful crab and site has amazing dogs. Also has AMAZING food and service, I would recommend this place to people looking for a eco friendly and stress reliving place.
We stayed for a week at this wonderful place and it truly was an amazing experience. The accommodation is clean and comfortable and there is direct access to a beautiful beach. The food was excellent, freshly prepared with much of the fruit and vegetables grown on the farm. Andrea and her team looked after us so well. Nothing was too much trouble and Andrea was always on hand to prepare fresh juice, snacks organise activities or chat about the local environment. She was always calm and good humoured and our whole party was in awe of her customer service. We did tubing and trekking all organised from the hotel and they clearly choose carefully their service providers as both activities were well organised. This place is truly magical!
