On the spectrum of full on party hostel to quite secluded eco-lodge this definitely is close to party hostel. There is an attached bar and music is on to about midnight. It's very relaxed, you are allowed bring friends and your own own drinks. It has nice clean rooms, good bathrooms, kitchen, WiFi and computers you can use. It's close...

We used Mamallena bus service to Playa Blanca, it was by far the easiest and best option from Cartagena with a flexible return date from the beach. The bus had air con and only took 45minutes with no stops! Thanks again for the great service guys! Highly recommended

Good location close to everything. Rooms were ok, nothing special. Not to secure, as anyone can just walk into hostel or rooms so make sure you lock up your stuff. Staff is cool and helpful. Also, cats running around, so if you're allergic, bring meds.

We are pretty secure! We have 24 hour reception, and we are constantly watching who is coming(admittedly some of the staff more than others....), we dont like the idea of having locked doors that you have to come through to get to us. The dorms are unlocked but each bed has a large, backpack sized locker for use, and all...

We decided to book here a bus (daytrip) to Playa Blanca. This place was recommended by our hostel and on a few blogs so I felt safe to book here. They take 50k cop per person for the ride only (bus was good with aircon). They say its 45 min ride, but it was more - one hour+. I found...

We do try and provide a good service with the shuttle, and I think we succeed pretty well. Nothing is ever perfect but for Cartagena we do pretty well. We make a point of leaving on time and try and keep the delays to a minimum. The trip should be about 45 minutes, but it also depends on traffic as...

I really enjoyed my stay at Mamallena hostel, it has a really social vibe, where it is easy to meet lots of other travellers, the staff were always helpful and friendly, very accommodating when we needed something. Small but useful kitchen to cook your own food in.

And the AC is 24 hours as well!! Most places dont have that...... Would love to have a larger kitchen but its just not possible with the space that we have unfortunately.

Stayed here two nights and loved it. I came with a few friends and the manager accommodated all of us right off the voyage from Panama City. We got private rooms, each with air conditioning (super necessary in this heat). Private bathrooms and clean beds. Great location, only five minute walk from the gorgeous walled city. Thanks, mamallena!!

And thanks to you guys as well. Sounds stupid, but a good hostel also depends on the guests and their attitudes. Thanks for helping us with that :)

We stayed in the mamallena hostel in Panama City before sailing from Panama to Cartagena via the San Blas Islands. After being quite seasick the hostel in Cartagena was comfortable with a welcoming staff. Party or relax, the space accommodates all types. Great hostel!

A great choice if you want all the amenities at a good price. Place was clean, staff was friendly. Close to the wall and all the sights! Had a slight hiccup getting transportation to Barranquilla (transportation companies fault) but the owner went out his way to make sure we got a ride!

If you want to meet other travelers, young and vibrant, and are looking to party - this is your spot. Party hard enough and sleeping won't be a problem for you ;). This seems to be the place where all the travelers go to pregame and party before headed out to the bars. It's the spot to meet new gringos...

This was my first hostel experience and it was fantastic! The local area was set up so everyone interacted naturally and everything was pretty clean. The breakfast wasn't much but you can buy better food. I missed my flight one day and went back to find the rooms were booked and I was crushed that I would have to go...
