We had a lovely stay here, even extended one more night. Our room was no. 11. Very clean and spacious, nice shower, bed was comfortable. Good location. Staff were helpful and friendly and it feels like a very safe place to stay as there's always someone at the desk.

My brother and me got a small double bed ignoring our twin bed room reservation. We asked for a second blanket several times but they forgot it nevertheless. There was no Wifi in our room. The bed was very hard, my bones are hurting. Breakfast was okay.

Noticed how the rest of the reviews were old so figured I should give an update. Went here with a friend and we stayed in two rooms at the Casa Mara. Originally, we had booked at the Villa Colonial, but when we got there, they told us we actually booked at the Casa Mara. Wish they would figure out a...

Don't stay here! I booked a room here but when I arrived it was in shambles and uninhabitable. Good thing there was a boy there who told me that I could stay at their other hotel Casa Villa Colonial, down the street. I'm giving them one star because that is just not acceptable - feels like a scam. Casa Villa...

I wanted to extend our stay at another hotel but they had no availablity. After a referral and a check of a dated Lonely Planet review, I stopped by Casa Mara on Friday and booked a room for Saturday night. PROS: 1) Secure. The watchful staff keeps the front gate locked at all times. 2) Small pool in central courtyard....good...

It's a pity the last reviewer was let down by his booking not being honoured. I had no such problems and found the Casa Mara to be elegant and comfortable, the whitewashed courtyard having a soothing effect in the heat of Cartagena. My room was spacious and quiet and the management were courteous. No breakfast but an unlimited supply of...

The hostel looked great. My advice is book at least a few days in advance, email the confirmation and ask them to reconfirm, be prepared with a back up place. Having read the mostly good reviews, except for those people who were moved, we decided to book and email the confirmation to them to ensure they had our booking. We...

Lovely little place, perfectly located in a silent street close to everything. The rooms are fine, the service is excellent and the outside area (which includes a small pool) is so charming.. Would definitely stay here again :)

We booked Casa Mara online through Expedia, but when we arrived at the hotel we were told that they had our Expedia booking but there was no room available. After much discussion, they switched us to their sister hotel, Villa Colonial. It was OK, but we had booked Casa Mara for the pool, and Villa Colonial didn't have one.

When I showed up, they tried to send me to another place that they said they "owned" because they had overbooked. I looked up the hotel that they were trying to send me too, and it was not very nice. I insisted on receiving a room at Casa Mara as I was promised and they miraculously found that they had...
