I wish there were negative stars. The good :the hotel is a beautiful old home with great potential. It is located right next to Ping Jiang street. The horrible: the gardens are abandoned, the rooms dirty and not maintained. The staff is so horrible it is unbelievable. Not a single one of the front desk is decent. They look the...

There are many modern hotels in Suzhou and I have stayed in many of them in other city - but not for Suzhou! Suzhou is a famous ancient town in China, carries a history and many histories of its own and to better appreciate the city a more traditional type, ancient type of house or inn is my choice, and...

I enjoyed the experience of staying in a traditional lodge. However, I found the lodgings somewhat rundown and shabby. The rugs were uniformly dirty as were all the draperies I saw and the courtyards badly needed weeding. Also, the room was extremely dark. One couldn’t open the curtains because the windows opened to common courtyards. The breakfast was just adequate.

Excellent experience staying in this hotel.. The location is just off the main PingJiang Alley and hence very easy access a lot of the attractions in the 'classical district' of Suzhou. Late evenings PingJiang alley is a great place to hang out and this hotel makes it convenient to do all that. The staff are very helpful and the rooms...

We had read the mixed reviews on here so we thought we knew what to expect. The building is charming and really looks the part, wonderful old world feel and in a great location the shopping and restuarant area was beautiful in the evening just to wander around in, busy but not over the top. However the room was simply...

the bulding is a typical chinese style house, with internal gardens, the rooms are really nice, and the position is perfect if you want to enjoy the pace and quiteness of the district.the only thig we did not apprecciate is the price, a bit to expansive

This is a marvel, a thoughtfully adapted Ming dynasty complex, with courtyard gardens at every turn, opium beds in the room, a balcony study, and lovely updated bathroom. The division of space was well done. Everything was clean and the room carefully made up each of our 4 days. The lodge is wonderfully located near shops and restaurants, delightfully quiet...

This was our favourite hotel during our trip to China. The hotel is 400 years old and has wonderful antique furniture. The staff arranged our onward train tickets for a small fee. The hotel is located along a pedestrianised area with no access for cars. The hotel is signed up clearly and just a couple of minutes walk. It's such...

We booked 2 nights at this lodge hoping for a traditional Chinese experience at the end of our 15 day stay on China. We were sadly very disappointed. Our room was on the ground floor just after the lobby/reception area. It was dirty and dark and very poorly utilised. The rain shower was broken and the toilet did not flush...

We took the advice of our Chinese friends in Guangzhou, and didn't regret it. In fact, we were wowed by the results of the owner's efforts to make this small hotel simple, traditional and comfortable. Not 5-star luxury, but close, if you could imagine it came with the service, speaking of which, you get a wifi unit (after paying a...

“This lodge was remodeled from an ancient property, so no room is exactly the same, need to check carefully. The one we stay is good, with a separate living room and a connected bedroom - this is not a 5-star or 4-star western type hotel - it is for experience.”
