It was a pity that my parents and I only stayed at InterContinental Shenzhen for a night. If time permits, I would have loved to stay for longer. This is a very large property, and we kind of got lost a few times walking in the hallway. The Shenzhen Metro Overseas Chinese Town (OCT) station has an exit right near the hotel entrance, providing hotel guests easy access to public transportation. The free Ho Hsiang-Ning (He Xiangning) Art Museum is located next door and worth a quick visit for those interested in art and/or Kuomintang history. The hotel supposedly has Spanish style both in arcitecture and in the uniform worn by some customer-facing staff members, although we did not quite understand the point.
I emailed the hotel in advance and got connecting rooms arranged per request. The rooms, which come with balconies, are spacious and comfortable. The bathroom has both a shower and a bathtub. When water is turned on for the bathtub, the water flows quickly and elegantly into the tub, almost onsen style I would say. Housekeeping, on the other hand, did not do a spotless job, but the problem was quickly corrected, and the hotel provided some complimentary snacks to make things up. The door and some of the furnitures have also seen its years.
My Annual Lounge Membership provides access to the Club InterContinental for 2, but the hotel was nice enough to comp the 3rd person for us, so we could all enjoy the facility. Although the afternoon tea selection is limited to desserts only, the happy hour nicely includes both a small buffet and some à la carte options. There were few guests in the Club, and service was always very personal with attention to detail. For breakfast, we opted for the Mercado Restaurant & Café and were amazed by the bazillion food and beverage options offered.
Although we booked 2 rooms, only the points for 1 room were automatically posted. It took a couple of emails to get the other room's points posted. All in all, despite some small hiccups, we had a great and memorable stay.

Honestly, I was attracted by their reasonable room rate like $250 with 2 breakfast during the labor day holiday, you had to understand how crazy the room rates were in this period, while most of 5 star hotels charged $500 at least, that's insane.
Nevertheless, never judge a book by its cover because it's an "old" hotel, I didn't expect much about this hotel but things were way better than my thought.
First of all, the location is super convenient, it's in the urban area with MTR access, and two amusement parks are their neighbor, it's cool. From the first step walked in the hotel, the bellboy actively helped us for the luggage through the check in, it's nice.
When we got in the suite, we Woowed, room is big, the decoration is cool and it's new, I think they renovated in the recent year. We used their facilities, they have 4 pools (sandpit, playground, outdoor and indoor), kids' love the sandpit and playground pool.
I should mention about their excellent catering services, we enjoy their in-room dining and free buffet breakfast, the in-room dining charges are totally reasonable, like $20/big pizza and I would say it's exquisite, much better quality than the pizza shop in China. The buffet restaurant is big, but I should mention a stuff who I saw in the breakfast, he is a dressed up foreigner, I think he is the catering director or manager, the restaurant was extremely busy that morning but all their staffs were well trained and did their job efficiently and promptly, our table was always clean. This man like a general in the "war". That's a high-performing team, well done!
Lastly the room is clean and the bed was so comfortable, I slept like a rock that night. Everything was so cool. I never wrote such a long review but they indeed deserve a credit, good job. i will come again soon

We spent one night at the Intercontinental shenzhen as a staycation with friends during school spring break. We had an amazing time enjoying the wonderful pools with our kids. There was some large size gazebos which was great for our multiple families. We stayed in a club room enjoying access to the club lounge for afternoon tea and evening drinks and snacks.
The room was a great size, with a good size balcony overlooking the pool. The bath was huge! The bathroom amenities are not miniatures, they are multi-use pump packs. I am fine with this concept to reduce waste, but 2 of the pumps did not work. The hand soap and the shampoo so 2 of the most needed. The cleanliness was great, and the carpet was like new. Beds in the twin room were double sized beds, and very comfortable.
The staff was wonderful, with a very good level of English throughout the hotel. In the evening we rang to arrange an extra pillow. When the phone was answered the person could not speak English, but politely asked us to wait a moment and quickly got someone else who could to help us.
I will definitely be back with my family and friends again during the summer holidays. A wonderful, relaxing break.

This stay started out really well. I appreciated front desk getting in touch with me before my arrival. I also felt very welcomed during the check in process. It was very polite and friendly. I appreciate how we were walked to the room as it was a nice gesture.
The best part was that since there was not any standard room available anymore, we were upgraded to the premier suite. That was amazing. Beautiful and clean room. I appreciated the welcome fruit platter as a platinum ambassador and my IHG platinum ambassador status was recognized during the check in process.
However, the complimentary breakfast needed to be made clearer immediately. We were told twice that breakfast was included, so when you are saying it directly to the two guests, it would be assumed that it was for two. At no point were we told otherwise. We were not expecting breakfast at all, so we thought it was really nice.
So, the next morning, as we went down to the ground floor and stated our room number, we were told that it was breakfast for one. Even the lady at the restaurant mentioned how awkward we felt when we were told this sudden information. As we called front desk, we were told that it is only for one. As I pointed out that we were never told about this at any point before this matter, the front desk was nice and apologetic about it but there was nothing she could do. She did say that her colleague should have given us clearer information from the beginning.
As I got in touch with the ambassador team, they did admit how there was a miscommunication. I really appreciated that. They were very apologetic about it. Yet, I must say that at some other Intercontinental hotels or at competitor hotels where I also have VIP status, breakfast was always granted for two including lounge access for two. Maybe, this is something that corporate could consider as kind feedback.
So, we ended up not eating at the restaurant at all for breakfast. Why would one of us eat and the other one will not eat? No matter what, it just felt too funny already. Also, it is not about having complimentary breakfast or having to pay for a second breakfast, it is about service and timely communication as well. Yet, the hotel and the room were beautiful with a breath taking view and the overall service was very nice and friendly.

Romantic and elegant hotel to stay. They have wide beach and excellent gym. The waterfall is also professional, strongly recommended for tired people. The Chinese food here is amazing, the roasted dark and fried beef are tasty.

During the National Day holiday, I stayed at the InterContinental OCT and enjoyed the beach and swimming pool. The room is quite big, the balcony is very much liked, and hotel members can also enjoy the executive lounge. The taste of the Chinese restaurant is what I like. The signature dishes are Guangdong roasted meat, barbecued pork, honey barbecued pork, and roast duck. Each one is roasted crispy and juicy. The marinated platter is also very good, and the soup is delicious. The playground has indoor and outdoor areas and looks very new. Wang Zhiyu, who drives the carousel, has a very good service attitude. He patiently and carefully told me how to use each facility, asked if the children needed water, told me the location of the toilet, and reminded me that there was a mooncake making activity indoors. We stayed one night to celebrate my girl’s birthday, my feeling is not good before checkin cos’ there is no way to contact the hotel via email or chat but only through phone, so I made a long distance call to tell them it’s my girl’s birthday celebrating trip and add some room requests as well, they reply that complimentary birthday cake would be delivered only for guests staying exactly on the her birthday, no big deal but felt weird as I never experience that before, most hotels will have some compliments for birthday guest staying few days before or after their birthday.
Once we stepped out the taxi, no one help with our luggage, not expected for a 5 star hotel. At the checkin counter, no one is smiling or express in anyway they are welcoming us, there is no queue at that time so nothing deal with tiredness or rush hour. The staff talks like a flash that I couldn’t heard her, seems she was rushing for something? She did ask me for membership detail for late checkout arrangement, but later on, I suddenly recall she didn’t mention our checkout time, so I went to the checkin counter at night to confirm, and the staff there said it’s 12 and can extend to 2pm since we are a member, so the rushing girl didn’t do anything after asking my membership, lucky that I recall something and reconfirm with them, or we may need to pay if I thought she has already extend the time for me.
After that, we got changed and went to the pool, which my girl was so excited but when we got there, we were told that the outdoor pool is under maintenance, not opening whole day!! Why the checkin staff not mentioning this? It’s not just wasting our time, but also disappointing my daughter!!!!
I should say this is a big hotel with good rooms ( a bit dated) and nice outdoor pools, but the service is way below standard, the room rate is ridiculous with such service provided, not worth it and I will not recommend this hotel to others.

Can’t remember how many stays I’ve had in Intercontinental Hotel, Shenzhen. I felt hospitality from every staff during my every stay in this hotel, especially during this specific time of COVID-19. They’ve taken a lot of measures to ensure the health of the guests, which made me feel safe during my traveling. I’m so grateful to the staffs of the hotel and I want to thank manager Hina specifically, because I’ve got a lot of help from her professionalism and warm service. I will surely choose this hotel again if I come to Shenzhen next time.

I believe this hotel should have such facilities for transfer and u better ask them directly
All i can say is that i have always enjoyed staying in this hotel and is one of my most favorite one,
dont forget to enjoy the Draft beer at the bar (3rd floor)
