Nestled conveniently close to the Luohu Border, Shangri-La Shenzhen garners praise for offering spacious and comfortable rooms, though a touch of modernization is suggested by some guests. The hotel's cleanliness and diligent housekeeping earn high marks, as does the attentive service that adds a personal touch to guest experiences.

Hotel's Favourite
I forgot to add my friend's name when I book the room so I called Misi (staff of the hotel I met last trip) and asked if she can help since my friend would arrive much earlier than me. Not only did Misi helped in adding my friend to the booking, she noticed that I've ordered the dinner package along with the room so she contacted the restaurant and have them arrange a window seat for me. So thughtful of her. Not only Misi was helpful, but Alan Liu of the frontdesk and George Mo of the Housekeeping are also kind, attentive and helpful as well. Even though the hotel's decoration might show some age, but the service make up for it and more. Isn't the service what one should look for when picking a hotel?

We stayed in the hotel for Christmas and it was absolutely amazing- beautiful decorations and a fantastic atmosphere The buffet dinner was amazing, with lots of different dishes. As a vegetarian I had plenty to choose from and the staff were very friendly and offered to make dishes without meat or fish. The manager Linges was wonderful, extremely helpful and he took time out of his evening to make sure we were ok and that we had everything we needed. Cant wait for our next trip to the hotel. Would reccomend the hotel to anyone in the area

We were using the Shangri la Shenzhen for our Christmas lunch gathering for more than a hundred of our staff and their family.
This hotel is located in a very convenient location especially if you have delegates from both Hong Kong and China. It is just situated next to the Shenzhen Train Station which has rail link to literally every part of China. It is also less than 200 meters from the China-Hong Kong border at the Lowu crossing. So this hotel is very ideal for conference and meetings.

I used to go to the "Coffee Garden" of the restaurant to have dinner buffet, yet, I was quite disappointed during my last visit on the New Year Day (1 Jan 2020) where unlike the past, oysters and smoked salmon were ceased to be supplied because it was a non-busy evening (Sunday to Thursday). Some frozen seafood in particular the small crabs were beyond standard while the sushi and fish sashimi were also of low quality. Of course there are still many dishes of both western and Chines styles, and all the drinks were free, but I opine that to dine in an international 5-star hotel like Shangri-la, I am prepared to pay more if it is reasonable.

Dear Eddiefy, Thank you for choosing to stay with Shangri-La Hotel, Shenzhen, and leave your comments of Coffee Garden. We do apologize that our buffet restaurant food selections did not meet your expectations. We have reviewed and discussed your comment with the departments involved for further improvement. Recently, we just launched a new dish for new year, and we has the Chilean poached King Crab immersed with 10 different sauce in dinner period for this restaurant. The location of the hotel is very good. It is located at the Luohu port, which is very convenient for passengers passing through Hong Kong. Because it has been open for a long time, the room is relatively old. The check-in experience was very bad. I waited for at least 20 minutes to check in, and no one came to deal with it. The front desk also didn't inform me that the room was accessible when they gave me the room, which is my least favorite room. When I went out, I specifically informed the hotel front desk that the room needed to be cleaned and furnished, but when I returned to the room, I found that the razor soap and other items were not replenished, and they were all empty. Very disappointing trip for me.

I would truly give our experience a 3.5. The hotel is very dated and in need of some updating. Our biggest disappointment was booking the Horizon Club room and realizing that the Club was not open. That is very disappointing and should be made clear on the website while booking. Also, the gym and pool were closed for at least one of our three days there which is also not ok.
Since we went for the lounge experience as a staycation, something a lot of people in China are doing, we were very disappointed that we could not get the full experience. My wife and I understand that the hotel is under-occupancy due to Covid and some decisions must be made around that but some things could be handled better.
Breakfast has a very good variety with high quality product. My wife and I are always excited to get fresh pancakes and waffles. Unfortunately those items were not made fresh. They were prepped in advance and left to sit for way too long. This could be said of many items on the buffet. It would be best that if the buffet is so slow with customers that most items are made to order.
The afternoon tea was fine but had no variety at all. We went to another 5 star hotel that also closed their lounge and they at least had a small menu of options to make things more exciting and interesting. The same could be said for happy hour. There were no options given. Just trays of food brought out. If you didn't like something, too bad. Once again, a small menu of items to choose could be a simple and effective solution.
On a more positive note, the open bar concept was still available at happy hour. So that was nice. Also, and I can't stress enough that two women working in the lobby lounge made our experience all the better. I was thinking of leaving on the first day when I realized that the lounge was closed but the kindness, hospitality and service of the lobby staff made us change our minds. Kate and Evelyn in particular were excellent. They tried very hard to speak English to us and were always attentive and caring. We don't eat beef or pork and they made sure to only give foods that we eat. I can't stress enough the excellence of their service.
To be honest, the service in general was above average and way better than the hotel itself. The hotel itself was a disappointment, the hospitality of the workers was a highlight. The room ayi was excellent and spoke the most English of any ayi we've encountered. The staff of the hotel would almost bring us back. If the club was open, we would not hesitate to return.

As an ex-diamond member and a jade member currently, I know my privileges and benefits well, and thus I checked out at 4pm punctually on 30/6. However, the front desk manager, Henry(Liu) told me he's going to charge me for extra half day's room fee as I checked out lately, without checking my membership status, so what's the point for the membership loyalty?
Besides, I've received a call who asked me about the room cleaning service time at 1530pm on 30/6, which I replied that I would leave at 4pm and no cleaning up is needed. However, another staff knocked my door soon after that, like in 5 minutes without noticing the do not disturb sign outside.
In addition, during the breakfast time, I noticed that one of the staff (male) of the coffee garden take away my neighbor's plates and tableware twice, which made him mad. At that moment, that staff wanted to please him with the tableware on my table without asking me. As my girlfriend was hunting for food, I was sitting there to look after the things, but not expecting to see such a disrespect scene.
I told these experiences to the so called duty manager, Henry, without getting a proper apology. He just explained that all the messy things are due to the 1/7 holiday which is totally unacceptable in Shangri-la, which is famous for its service standard.

First time staying in Shenzhen, where else to book but Shangri-La Hotel! Hotel is conveniently located next to Railway station, ideal for we were travelling from Guangzhou by train. Pulling a big luggage is quite straight forward from station to hotel. One plus! Hotel reception is warm and helpful. We were allowed to check in early and started our tour of the city early.
The room is Shangri-La standard except for a BluRay player that is not functioning. A bit aged but we enjoyed the stay much.
Travelling in Shenzhen from the hotel is easy as it is right above train and subway station. If not for the rioting in Hong Kong we would have travelled to Hong Kong as LuoHu station is also located there.
We had an enjoyable stay in Shenzhen.

It's just a few minutes' walk from the Luohu subway station, so convenient! Another attraction is the hotel's proximity to major shopping malls and attractions.
.
It's just Christmas. As soon as you enter the lobby, you can already feel the luxurious style. It is decorated with golden Christmas decorations and is full of a strong festive atmosphere. There are also live musicians playing, which makes people deeply feel the joyful holiday atmosphere.
.
We stayed in the "Luxury Club" room with a comfortable environment and a view of Shenzhen cityscape. The hotel is also very considerate and provides a variety of pillow choices. We also use L’Occitane toiletries. The hotel also has a large outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, and beauty salon.
.
There are several restaurants to choose from, including Xiang Coffee, Lobby Lounge, Champs Champion Restaurant and Bar, 360° Bar Restaurant and Lounge, and Shang Palace. You can taste local and international delicacies in one go. There is 24-hour room meal service in the room.
Residents of Horizon Club can also go to the 27th floor to enjoy a rich buffet breakfast, which includes a variety of frozen dishes, fruits, breads, snacks, porridge and noodles, a variety of Chinese and Western cuisine options, and some ready-to-order meals.
.
The hotel has a convenient location and a comfortable environment. The staff has good service attitude and truly feels like a five-star service.
