Actually, if you speak a little bit of the lingo, it's not too bad a hotel. For value it is excellent with modern room interiors and unlike many Shenzhen hotels does not give you the impression it is an hourly love motel, except maybe for the reception, but at least the rooms are ok.

Yes, I agree that the front desk English skills need to be improved and that its access to booking information needs to more up to date. Actually, they need to upgrade their IT systems for deposit and checking in and out, but hey, what do you expect for US$30 a night?

The location is quite good and most places are within a US$2.50 ride away. Just don't expect great views from the room. The room itself was large, with its wooden floor boards, looked a bit liked a studio flat. Another gripe is that the walls are a bit thin so you can easily hear what is happening from rooms within the vicinity. Cups provided are the disposable paper type and they don't even provide you with stirers...

We have been in China for over 3 weeks and have enjoyed our stay, it has been fun communicating through miming with the chinese people who have been very kind and obliging.
this hotel was the exception and a nasty finale to our trip.

After arriving in Shenzhen at 6 am in the morning ,we trudged all over the strong smelling inner city, in sweltering heat.We had previously asked a chinese girl to translate the address.6 taxis and a dozen citizens including a dutchman ,residing and working in the city had no idea where "Unotel Zhenye Hotel, Shenzhen
Location: No.2014 south baoan road" was (,even though as it turns out, it is a main road, traversing the town centre) we desperately entered a major international hotel ,only to find the receptionist couldn't speak a word of english, we managed through ape actions to get her to rewrite the hotel's address "2014 south boan road" in Chinese, once again the taxi driver vexedly looked at the address, it...
