I stayed in the City Hotel in Xiamen for a few days. The hotels staff were very friendly and helpful. I stayed there with my girlfriend and we didn't got the room that we first wanted but after a day we could change the room. All this without any extra cost. They even brought our luggage to our new room.

City center. Walking distance to shopping center, to the seaside. The environment is good. Situated amongst a green garden. 10 min's walk to Xiamen Botanical Garden, one of the best in China. Maybe not that westerner-oriented.

Good location in the city center, about 10mn walk to the main shopping streets and to the port, close to bus stops. Nice and clean bedrooms, nice bathroom with huge shower! Courtesy tray and free water bottles every day. Free fruits as well on arrival. Umbrella for the time of your stay. If you ask for something the hotel does'nt...

Stayed in building 8, which is the newer, more modern 4 (maybe 4 and a half star) annex of the City Hotel. Took a business room with a king sized bed with all the mod cons. Large screen plasma TV, etc, etc. At the rear of the room, almost entirely seperated by a wall behind the bed, was a perfectly...

Reasonable location, approx 10-15 min walk to the Zhongshan pedestrian St and a short bus ride to the ferry terminal for Gulangyu. There's a bus stop only meters from the hotel so it's very convenient, Our room was a bit on the small side but certainly clean and comfortable. Beds quite firm/hard and no pool. Staff are very friendly and...

For regular visitors of China, the title should bring a knowing smile. Chinese-government run hotels and hostels are not famous for good service - until we found this exceptional hotel on our recent visit, known locally as Xiamen Bin Guan. All the best attributes that one would expect from a world class hotel are featured here, at a fraction of...

Very pleasant hotel. Nothing spectacular but certainly very reasonable. Big breakfast with western options. Clean and presentable. One staff speaks excellent English which is a big plus. No it's NOT down a dirty alley (as mentioned in another review). Yes, it's in the alley but safe and absolutely no problem. Bus stop right at the corner and access to the...

I stayed in this hotel for one month while on a business trip. I can't comment on value for money because I didn't pay the bill! The room was clean and of a good size with plenty of wardrobe and storage space and place to work. The staff were very friendly and two of the waitresses actually gave me a...

“You don't have to pay the extra to stay in a larger room in this case. The difference is negligible, even though the RMB100 upgrade is also insignificant. We checked out the upgrade but decided to stay in the deluxe twin. Either way, the view would be of the park or the city. Just get a higher floor.”
