As mentioned by many other reviewers, it's a lovely well maintained high quality resort in an idyllic location with some of the most friendly staff you can imagine. The rooms are of a very high standard, although the ones we were allocated (06 and 07) had no view of any description. It is sort of pointless to have a very nice porch/balcony when you have nothing to look at - it becomes dead space. So when you pick your room and/or get allocated one, it's worth looking on the map if you want to spent some evening time on the porch.

The pool is very nice though and love the view from the infinity pool of the rice paddies. The pool bar staff are also super friendly (special shout out to Lin) and attentive. The restaurant serve very good and tasty food.

Why we would not strongly recommend this place over other 5 star places in Siem Reap is for two reasons:
1) For us the novelty of the location wears off and a bit and then you realise you are quite far from most things in Siem Reap vs other high end hotels. And of course there are tuktuks, but everything is just a bit more of a hassle. Nothing this resort can do about that and it's a choice and also about what you want out of a visit
2) The other thing is that simply everything is expensive for what it is - maybe that is the Zannier philosophy to how they create exclusive resorts, but in my view, just because I can afford it, doesn't mean I find it good value for money. The price of the rooms is fair enough given they are of a very high standard, but everything else is more pricey than it needs to be by Cambodian standards and it simply takes the mickey. Tuktuks are more expensive than usual, an evening meal for four in the restaurant for $300 when you can eat & drink for less than $100 in central Siem Reap at good restaurants, cocktails in the bar priced from $16 and well upward (they're good, but we're not in the Elephant bar in the Raffles hotel and the staff are not top rated mixologists working in Western night clubs...) and going up to a Aperol Spritz at $24 (you can pay less than that in a decent bar in London...), ... and the one that tops is to pay $5/liter (!) for filtered tap water in a country where the average GDP per capital is $2,500 per person is simply embarrassing. And yes the resort gives back to the community, but I've been in business long enough to know where most margin ends up...

Overall, we had a lovely time and we on balance didn't regret choosing the place. But we wouldn't recommend it highly to friends who would want to stay in Siem Reap or go back here. There clearly is a clientele for this resort and if you don't mind to pay an average Cambodian daily wage for a liter tap water, this is probably the place for you. But if you want a five star resort/hotel in Siem Reap, there are many other options in town that are closer to the temples, in walking distance of Pub street and in our view better value for money.

Dear LondonMas, Thank you for your kind compliments about our resort and our dedicated employees. Regarding your note on our location, we are indeed a 10-minute ride from the town center. We believe this short distance is a small trade-off for the peace and tranquility our guests enjoy, which is often hard to find in the city. In our view, this serenity is invaluable, and a 10-minute ride is quite reasonable. Concerning our pricing, we assure you that our rates are comparable to other hotels of the same caliber. It is important to consider the high-quality materials we use and our commitment to a green and sustainable approach, which does incur higher costs. Additionally, the cost of wine and spirits is elevated due to high import taxes, as Cambodia does not produce these items. For instance, the price of Champagne has increased by 40% at the source over the past 18 months, and many wines have seen similar price hikes. We could have opted to offer lower prices by compromising on quality, as some bars and restaurants in town do. However, we prioritize providing high-quality products and maintaining our sustainable practices. We respect our guests’ choices to dine elsewhere and are always happy to recommend and book excellent restaurants in the city upon request. Thank you once again for your wonderful review. We look forward to welcoming you back to our Green Village.

A beautiful slice of bliss and peace amongst the chaos of Siem Reap!

The rooms are gorgeous, very spacious and well appointed with a large deck area and really good aircon. You get supplied with heaps of drinking water every day, and there are really high quality soaps, hair, lotion and bath products provided.

The hotel grounds are a tropical oasis with the rice paddies being a great feature - even though a few were empty mud ponds when we were there, it was great getting to see the buffalo plow the areas and the staff plant the rice.

Breakfast is fully inclusive and really good, one of the best we've had during our travels.

The pool area is fabulous, lots of shade and plenty of sunbeds. The staff are so friendly and extremely attentive. We were blown away by the attention to detail from the housekeeping staff, they even folded any stray clothes and ordered all our toiletries!

They have tuk tuks on demand at any time, $5 USD each way to get in and out of Siem Reap, ask for Fish Man and Sam, they were the best drivers and were happy to literally be your private drivers for the day if required (we were a group of six, so needed two tuk tuks). The resort is only about 10 minutes in a tuk tuk from town (but I wouldn't recommend walking, the road in is poorly lit and opens onto a big, busy main road).

My only con is that the restaurant and bar offerings are horribly overpriced. Do yourself a favour and get in those tuk tuks, go try some of the local restaurants and markets - a beer is usually around $1USD in town, compared to $7USD at the resort, and you can get authentic Khmer food for a fraction of the price that the Zannier offers. You can get great cocktails in Siem Reap for $2-3USD, whereas Zannier charges $18USD and up. That also goes for massages and tour bookings, extremely expensive compared to local providers (which are also very easy to book yourself).

Overall, an amazing place and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, would recommend to anyone wanting a touch of luxury on their Cambodian adventure!

We stayed at this lovely resort-style hotel in November 2024. It is located on the outskirts of Siem Reap, about 20 minutes from Angkor Wat and the major temple complexes. The hotel is in an isolated location that is not within walking distance of any restaurants or shops. The hotel complex contains two restaurants and a bar, a lovely swimming pool, spa, gym, and yoga studio. The extensive grounds consist primarily of rice paddies on which the hotel grows the rice it uses in its kitchen. When we were there, they were hosting a water buffalo family, complete with a 3-week-old water-buffalo baby, who was simply adorable. The hotel’s rooms are self-contained villas with rustic furniture, a huge soaking tub, and a large and well-furnished outdoor patio. Our villa came with a plunge pool, which was ideal for a cool dip after a long, hot day. We thoroughly enjoyed this luxurious retreat from which to explore Angkor Wat and the other temples and attractions in the area.

An excellent hotel in stunning grounds. We arrived very late at night and check in was friendly, quick and efficient. A nice touch was a light snack left in the room as we had missed dinner.

The cabin was beautiful. There is a great sense of privacy and we had a cabin with private pool. The large room had lots of storage, a very large comfortable bed, a sofa and a very large bathroom with tub and shower. Lots of hot water and plenty of towels.

Aircon was very good and much needed as it was very hot when we visited.

Excellent standard of housekeeping with an evening turn down service timed to be done when the staff know you are out of the room.

The grounds are a delight with paddy fields, contented water buffalo and lovely landscaping.

Breakfast is served in the stylish poolside restaurant. An excellent buffet with dishes cooked to order. We enjoyed the delicious juices and teas and plentiful fruit selection.

Dinner was either at the poolside restaurant or the more expensive main restaurant depending on the night of the week. We preferred the more relaxed feel of the poolside restaurant. You ned to have on plenty of insect repellant for being outside in the evening and the additional citronella spays provided were appreciated. A thought for management is to have these in the rooms as well.

A special word for the lovely staff throughout. Without exception the staff were friendly and polite especially those in the restaurant. It was good to find out that the hotel recruits from the local community.

Siem Reap is c 10 minutes by tuk tuk. Angkor Wat is around 20 minutes by car and the airport 10 minutes by car.

The hotel isn't cheap but luxury of this standard comes at a price.

Highly recommended for Siem Reap.

The hotel is set amongst lush green rice paddies and the rooms are well decorated with fine fixtures and fittings. The shower is great and the bed comfy.

The staff are unbelievably warm and friendly from those on the reception to the restaurants to the hotel manager. Lin was the pick, always looking to help where he could.

Few niggles like charging $5 for bottles of filtered water at dinner (same as ones given in the room) and the food/drinks felt over priced even by Singapore hotel/restaurant standards. The food in the hotel was good but generally unremarkable. We much preferred the options in town. Breakfast spread was plentiful and the eggs Benedict tasty.

We also booked our own tours as those organised by the hotel were four times the price of options available outside. We booked Sam (see other review) and that worked perfectly.

I stayed 7 days at Zannier Hotel. The Hotel services are excellent since the moment I arrived. Their employee picked me up at the airport with cooling towel and refreshing drinks. Upon arrival, the front desk walked with me to my room introduced the hotel itself and services they have. When I enjoy my Villa, my luggage was sent along with a special mint drink. They are breakfast was always fresh selected and prepared. Coffee and fruits are amazing. Everyone was always polite and friendly. The Menu at Hang Bay was amazing. They truly tastes like a Michelin Star restaurant.

The front desk are always helpful especially with my tour guide arrangement to the city of Angkor, including Angkor Wat. My Guide Ouk Dinaka was the best Tourist Guide the I could ever image and meet all my needs when I was exploring the city of Angkor. She is super friendly and patient, very knowledgeable about the Khmer traditions, culture, foods and all the histories of the temples in Angkor city. She's very passionate and always full of energy. With her as my guide at Angkor city, We visited 7 different temples, I feel that I had my dream come true. She also helped me took lots of fantastic photos.

Thanks to Zannier hotel at Phum Baitang and my wonderful guide Ouk Dinaka, I had the best time and experience in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Will come back again.

Our stay at Phum Baitang was absolutely magical. Upon arrival from the Siem Reap airport via Grab (~1 hr's drive) in the evening, the hotel's beautifully lit, winding driveway slowly built the anticipation of our arrival into the welcoming lobby and staff. When we were shown our villa and walking through the property, it was bathed in the warm glow of the downlights lining the walkways overlying the rice paddies while the frogs croaked along with the crickets' chirping.

Our villa itself was of a modern organic luxury, minimalist style in keeping with the Khmer culture/architecture. The hotel itself was of a different style/philosophy/uniqueness compared to many of the other "standard" luxury hotel chains.

The two onsite restaurant options were convenient and delicious although going into town was just about 10 minutes' drive away, easily accessible via tuk-tuk or car (via Grab app). The pool was lovely and not too busy. The spa provided great massages. The staff themselves were lovely and genuinely friendly.

Overall, Phum Baitang (along with the Khmer people and culture) made our trip to Siem Reap a magical and memorable experience. We will definitely stay at Phum Baitang again if/when we visit Siem Reap again, and we look forward to staying at other Zannier properties. We have already been recommending Zannier to our friends and family!

It was our honeymoon, and my husband and I stayed at this hotel for three nights. We are used to staying at 5-star hotels around the world like Aman or four seasons, but the Aman in Siem Reap was nowhere near this hotel. as soon as you enter the hotel, it’s like you’re in your little bubble. It has complete silence, no noise of cars, just birds and the ground are so clean and well kept! The lighting at night was unique! We also had the best tour guide in Siem Reap; he was from the hotel, and his name was Muen; please make sure you give him a try; he showed us around day one to the temples and had excellent knowledge of the history and cultures and keeps English well! On day two, he took us on this fantastic bike ride through the villages. These villages were not the ones you could walk to or go to the car, the 2-hour bike ride Is a must, and it ends with a beautiful location near the mountain for you to watch the sunset. Muen then also took us to a local place to eat where we would never know for us to go ourselves over. This was a magical experience in the hotel with a fantastic Tour Guide, and our honeymoon was made very special. By the way Muen’s a great photographer too !!

We stayed here for three nights and it totaled up to 3,000.00 USD. I'm extremely well travelled and a very sophisticated traveler, this hotel was highway robbery. We arrived very late ( 10pm ) and the hotel started selling us on private tours on the ride to the hotel seeing that I was exhausted. The woman kept pushing them and finally demanded that we sign up. The two tours that we took were extremely expensive, the first one was a complete joke. The driver and hotel assistant took us to a rice field which I have seen millions of in SE Asia, rice wine maker, bamboo sticky rice maker and a lake in less than tour hours. They charged us 200 USD and they charged even more for the temple tour where the hotel only pays the tour guides 1/8 of what we were charged. I would indeed and have spent 1,000 USD per night for a South African Safari but to pay this in CAMBODIA made me feel completely scammed. Not to mention that I ordered one bottle of Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand for 88 USD that is 15 USD in a supermarket. I would never recommend wasting money at this hotel or any of the other locations.

Dear pickyprincess74, I am really amazed to read your review, before arrival you have announced yourself by email as a very famous fashion designer, and even if I never heard of you, I did give all possible attentions to both you and your son. I have met you both upon your return from the tour on the countryside, and your comments on it were enthusiastic, we have spent a good half an hour talking and in no circumstances you have mentioned anything about any problem with food, drinks, costs, transportation, or the tour, quite the opposite in fact. I am sure if there was any fault on our approach, it would have been mentioned on that occasion. Please allow me to correct you as you might have forgotten about some details: you did not arrived late at night, your flight touched down at 6.00 pm and after our limousine service transfer, after checking in your villa, you have entered our restaurant for dinner and your order was placed at 8.30 pm. During the transfer our guest assistant illustrate you our services, and it was only at check in that you have requested not one, but two different tours, we are offering, not obliging guests to take our services. Your bill was around 3000 usd that is correct, but you have stayed with us three nights, requested an upgrade to our Pool Villas, only these make up for 60% of your bill, you have requested for cash advance, Limousine transfer back and forth from the airport which is 90 minutes drive away from the City, you had then had one lunch and one dinner, plus the two afore mentioned tours, all this in a luxury enviroment. During Lunch using Room Service you have changed several time your order, asking for items that were not on the menu but they were prepared for you, you have stated that you were vegetarian, than ordered fish iand crusteceans, that were served as requested and eaten completely; you have tasted the wine and agreed on it. It was only upon departure two days later at 6.30am, when bill was presented that you start complaying about the wine only, saying that it tasted like vinegar and badly conserved. You wrote to me accusing my team to be liars, which definetely are not, as proven many times by the great comments we are receiving on service quality, adding that food was poisonous and disgusting, and now on socials you are adding further comments about the quality of excursions and the prices, all of this has not been mentioned one single time throughout your stay. You are then comparing the price of a wine, served in a luxury hotel to the one in a US shop, not knowing that besides the obvious difference in location, alcohol is highly taxed o import in most of the Asian countries. In Siem Reap and in Cambodia there are Hotels such as us, Raffles, Hyatt, Rosewood, Anantara, Sofitel, Aman and beside the last all the remaining have comparable prices, there are 700 hotels in Siem Reap, some of hem costs as little as $ 15 per day and street food may cost few dollars. Scam? Not really, yours was a conscious choice. Wishing you enjoyable travels during the rest of your holiday!

From check-in to check-out the experience, facilities, staff and food were simply the best you can possibly have during a stay. The calmness of the hotel, the delicious food & drink and tranquilness of the setting, made this a truly memorable holiday. We arranged a private tour to Angkor and other sites (including preparing and feeding elephants at a recently established elephant sanctuary (they do not ride the elephants!. The whole stay just added to the amazing experience of Siem Reap and if we had stayed somewhere else, I don't believe we would have enjoyed the trip as much as we did.

Sorry for the late reply, we have Rice fields growing all Year long, of course there are three months a Year (we do three harvest) were the paddies are empty, still it is possible during that time to see the buffaloes at work ploughing them, the gardeners are spreading the compost, following transplanting manually the little new plants of rice. We try to privilege the high season in having the rice paddies full, still we can not oblige Nature to follow our wills! At this moment we finished few days ago the transplanting, as such by December we should have all paddies grown and looking green, by the end of December we should start seeing the first rice kernels and by end of January beginning of February we will do next harvest. As said all this depends on how Nature will treat us! Hope I have answer your question

It takes approximately 10 to 15 minutes by Tuk Tuk or car. You could walk it however at night it would not be advisable as the road is quite dark with limited lighting. Kind regards, Colin Bryan General Manager

Dear Talha K, Thank you for your question. Yes your rooming request is possible. (2 plus 2 is the standard setup). I would propose king size bed for you and your husband, extra bed and use of the sofa bed for your children aged 5 and 6 and we could perhaps even add a cot for your 1 year old or, as you suggest, the child could sleep with you. We have a fully manned children's club with lots of activities for children. We can also provide babysitting for your children should you require this service. Should you have any further questions we are only too happy to assist. Kind regards, Colin Bryan Resort Manager

Thank you for your question. Living here in Siem Reap and working at Phum Baitang I think all year round is a good time to visit Cambodia and in particular Siem Reap but then I may be a little biased. Let me address your question by splitting the year into months in quarters…….. The best time to visit Siem Reap is January for most people as this is one of the coolest months of the year and it is also dry season. During January the skies are clear most days so it perfect for sunrises and sunsets. February, like January is probably the busiest month of the year in Siem Reap as it is high season. The weather in Siem Reap during February is near perfect as the climate is cool, the skies are blue and the sunrises and sunsets are amazing most days. Of course, because it is high season, there are many tourists at this time of year at the Angkor temples. The weather in March is very pleasant and I would recommend March as one of the best times of year to visit Cambodia. The climate in Siem Reap is quite cool most days. The weather in April can be very hot and humid with the climate a bit unpleasant at times. However, April is a good time to visit the Angkor temples as it is generally much quieter during this time of year. The Khmer New Year also falls in this month if you would like to join in some New Year celebrations. May is a good month to visit Siem Reap as it is much quieter than most other months. The climate in May is quite warm but with a bit of careful planning you can have a really good time. May is also the beginning of the rainy season but there is normally little rain during this time of year and when it does rain it is normally in the late afternoons or early mornings. May is the start of the rice planting season in Cambodia but at Phum Baitang we plant and harvest rice all year round. June in Siem Reap is quite warm and the rainy season has started in earnest. Even though June is part of the rainy season it is a good time to visit Siem Reap. The weather is not very hot as the few showers Siem Reap get generally cool the air to make it a more pleasant climate. June is also a great time to visit Siem Reap as the Angkor temples see fewer visitors at this time of year. One of the best times of year to visit Siem Reap is July as the weather is not very hot and the rain is normally in the evenings or during the night. July is a popular month for visiting Siem Reap for many families as this is a time when many schools are on holiday. Another good time to visit Cambodia is during the month of August. The weather is not very hot and the rainy season is not fully upon us but the landscapes are starting to look very green. August is a good month to visit the Angkor temples if you want to keep away from the big crowds of high season. There is more rain in August than there is in July but the rain is normally during the night or late afternoons. September is one of the wettest months in Cambodia but do not let it put you are off visiting Siem Reap. During September the vegetation is lush and green and the Angkor temples are so peaceful. October is cool and wet with day temperatures between 20 and 30 degrees celsius. October is one of the wettest months of the year so a light rain coat is advised, because it can rain at anytime, although it normally starts around 4pm. Strong trainer type shoes with a good grip are also recommended for climbing the temples as the stone is often wet and slippery. October is one of the nicest months of the year for scenery especially if you are interested in photography, as this is when the countryside is lush and green with rice fields stretching for miles. The weather in Siem Reap during November is very pleasant as the rains have almost stopped the blue skies are starting to appear and the weather is cooler. One of the best times to visit Siem Reap is during November as the weather is almost perfect and the sunrises and sunsets are generally pretty good. November is still the start of the high season so the Angkor temples are not busy like January and February. November is normally the month that the Cambodian Water festival is held where you will see boat races in Siem Reap. The best time to visit Cambodia is early to mid December as everything is perfect. The weather in Siem Reap is cool and dry with blue skies. The sunrises and sunsets during December are normally very good every day there are not so many tourists around the Angkor temples. Kind regards Colin Bryan Resort Manager Phum Baitang

Do you have a room for a family with 3 teenagers (11, 14, 15)? Or will we need two separate rooms?
Answer from CBCambodia
Siem Reap, Cambodia7 contributions2 helpful votes
Dear Helen B, Thank you for your question. Our usual maximum setup per villa is 2 plus 2. Two adults and two children however it really depends on the age of the children. We do have a few dedicated twin villas to which a third bed can be added. A king bed villa can also be split into what we refer to as a "Hollywood twin" and then a third bed can also be added. In both scenarios the forth person could be accommodated on the sofa, which can also be transformed into a comfortable bed. For a husband and wife with three teenage children I would propose a Pool Villa for the parents and a Terrace Villa with twin set-up plus an additional bed, for the teenagers. For advice on your specific sleeping requirements or arrangements please do not hesitate to contact our reservations department via email. Contact details are provided via our website. Kind regards Colin Bryan Resort Manager
