Après avoir visité tous les hôtels de la ville........vieux ,très sales, très chèrs et très mauvais accueil. L'hôtel Arenales est le plus propre, moitié prix que tous les autres hôtels de la ville et une patronne formidable.

We were told that many businesses in Oruro only survive due to the Carnaval business. This being only one weekend a year, they really stick it to you. This is a three star hotel, but what we paid for three nights, we could have stayed in a five star hotel in most capital cities. Granted, it was Carnaval and it would be a once in a lifetime experience for us, so we did it anyway. The male staff was great. I had hurt my leg, so I needed assistance with my suitcase going up and coming down on the arrival and departure. They assisted with a smile. There is no elevator, so with a bad leg, getting up to the second floor for comings and goings was torture, but I managed. The room was simple, but small: two twin beds. It was clean, but nothing noteworthy. Our room only had windows looking toward the staircase, so we could hear everyone coming and going on the stairs and all of the loud talking when people came in from partying. Breakfast, which was included, was a farce. Instant coffee, tea, pre-toasted bread, some rolls, orange juice, bologna, and cubes of cheese. The first morning, the cheese plate was empty and though it was still early in the serving time, no one came to replenish the platter. The same thing with the orange juice pitchers, they sat empty. I never saw anyone around without having to go downstairs to alert them. We were thrilled to be there for Carnaval, but they really rake you over the coals for the entire experience.

Gracias Fernando!!!!

I booked a room from Hotel Arenales in Oruro Bolivia. I was going to dance in the Carnivals and I needed a comfortable room for one day only. The hotels were very expensive. When I called Hotel Arenales I spoke with the mother's owner by phone from Los Angeles. At first she sounded very nice and said that a room for 3 people was 400 dollars. I explained that I needed to stay only one day but she said that the price was the same for 1 or 3 nights. Then she said that for the room to be reserved I need to wire the money right away to her daughters bank account. I called my dad who lives in La Paz and he agreed to wire the money for me. I called back to the Hotel just to confirmed that everything was paid in full. I spoke again with the mother's owner who said that the room was reserved and I didn't have to worry anymore. The room was paid in full. When my husband my friend and I arrived everything seemed in place. We arrived on Saturday early morning. We stayed for the night and Sunday around noon we were leaving. When I approached the front desk to leave the key. The mother's owner stopped me and said that she needed to check if I didn't owe any money. I told her that everything was paid in full. She insisted that she needed to see the book. I just knew that something was going to happen. After she checked her book she said that I still owe 80.00 more pesos. I told her that I wire 400 dollars. Then she acted like she didn't remember me anymore. She asked me where I wired the money and to whom. At that moment I called my father who wired the money so he can give me all the info again. Meanwhile this lady yelled at her daughter's name so she can come down to the front desk. She made it seemed like we were leaving the hotel without paying. The owner came down to the front desk. I told her that I did wired the money and my father who was in the phone can give her the details of the receipt. She spoke with my dad. After that she didn't say anything. She just left and went upstairs. But her mother kept insisting that she wanted more money. She became vulgar using bad language. I told her that I wasn't going to give her anymore money. I already paid what she asked and I wasn't going to pay anymore than that. She went wild. She waked me to the door and said very rude things. She almost slammed her hotel door at my face. I was in shocked. My husband and my friend were outside waiting for me. I couldn't believe that this old lady turned out to be a crook and a liar.
