Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked this hotel last minute and so paid a lot for it by Bolivian standards, but it was plain awful. The shower swung wildly from lukewarm to cold, the whole room was dirty, and the meager breakfast buffet did not include eggs - something I've never seen at any hotel anywhere in the world. Most bizarre and awful was their refusal to provide more than one roll of toilet paper. They wanted us to call when our one roll ran out, say at 3:00 in the morning. Based on experience, it took them a half hour to deliver a roll, so at 3:00 in the morning you're sitting there on the toilet waiting for half an hour. So awful it's almost comical.

One on the travel group got trapped in a room in floor 8th. The doorlock was too old, and the key got broken. Like 30 minutes just to get the door opened. Time lost. But the cherry on top: when we are leaving the hotel, they tried to charge us not the broken key, but the whole doorlock... and I say "tried", because at 5:50 am, we requested to communicate straight with the hotel manager that gave that order... I guess that after the "conversation", they will never try to do something so stupid with any tourist at all, but, who knows...

We had a very nice stay at this hotel on the main plaza of Oruro. We were a little skeptical about parking, which was promised; however, our worries were unfounded, They have a safe garage 50 steps from the front door. The first room we were assigned was very hot (from passive solar heat) and they moved us to a more tolerable room. The good and the bad of this second room is that it overlooked the Plaza. Anyone who has spent time in Latin America knows that the central plaza is a place of lots of interesting activities and great people watching. But it can also be quite noisy. We experienced both of these, great views and lots of noise. First there was a very large demonstration of unknown focus but lots of shouting and fireworks, then there was a native band with serious drums and accompanying musicians. Thankfully, it all toned down and by 10:30pm or so it was quiet and we got a good nights sleep. The breakfast buffet was very typical of hotels outside La Paz or Sucre: bread, butter, strawberry jam, instant coffee, a little fruit, and some bland pastries. As they say, you get what you pay for and the breakfast was complementary. Overall, if I was ever to return to Oruro, I would definitely book at the Plaza Hotel.

Oruro’s Carnival is one of the things that should be in your bucket list! There is one drawback though: Receiving thousands of visitors from all over the world in a couple of days, totally collapses the city and you might have trouble finding the most basic services. If you want to enjoy one of the best spectacles on earth with the advantage of having right at hand your room for a nap or your restaurant for a delicious meal, this hotel is a great choice!

First off, the location in the map is wrong, this hotel faces the main city square, dead centre in the heritage part of the city. Great comfortable inn and very helpful staff. A word of warning, the plaza is host to VERY loud events, not sure how often as we were only there the one night, but if you like loud music then should be alright.

My family and I stayed at this hotel for a night during a trip to Oruro. The staff was very friendly and, contrary to other reviews on Trip Advisor and in the guestbook at the hotel, we had no problems with the Internet (on the 6th floor). The hotel was clean, comfortable and warm. That said, I thought it was overpriced (compared to other 3 star hotels in La Paz of greater comfort and style). I also thought the lobby was a bit decieving, as the rooms were not nearly as modern as I had anticipated and I was disappointed that there was only one electrrical outlet, which made it difficult to charge our cell phones and iPad. The lock on the door also didn't seem to be very secure to me. All in all, a nice place to stay, but slightly overpriced.

During a longer Business trip I stayed over a month in this hotel. The service is really polite and the stuff always find a way to help you. The hotel is clean and has electrical heater in the rooms (what is really necessary in Oruro during the nights). It is located directly at the Plaza. The only negative point is that the internet connection isn´t stable and many times you have to go to the lobby to find an wifi-signal. The cost per night/for person is about 280 BOB. But all in all I can highly recommend this hotel..
