I was travelling for work and had a fantastic time at xva art hotel. Great service, exquisite food, perfect location in a very charming boutique hotel with a unique character. Would love to come back to this true gem in the heart of old dubai

My wife chose this hotel as every angle gives an Instagram worthy photo. Just posted a few here. It is in the old Dubai Al Fahidi area so expect really lovely Middle Eastern designs, my wife's & mine fav - earth colour with lots of earthen wares.

An enjoyable trip. I was well looked after on my 6 week business stay in Dubai. An inspiring Gallery Hotel with well designed rooms, good house keeping, excellent customer service, excellent breakfast. Sadly I did not use the restaurant because of the vegetarian menu! An excellent hotel.

Lovely design, good position off the standard skyscrapers, marinas and shopping malls locations. A must to breath the different air of Dubai. Appreciated the room arrangement as well as the common areas. Happy to see around alternative travellers, young and old who I see more in India or Egypt rather than UAE. Less happy to find that WI-Fi doesn't work...

Don't compare it with any star rated hotels, come with a mindset to enjoy old small room space with art gallery level of pieces hanging around the spaces. Enjoy the open courtyard based restaurant that offers excellent vegetarian healthy food choices. Walk around the old bastakia area at leisure and feel the old dubai feel for one night stay.

Food prepared by the chef and served by a very attentive team was delicious. The whole team made our stay very pleasant and enjoyable. The rooms are all special in their deco and style. The great mix between traditional local flavour and today's artists creations is very well managed. Can only be recommended!!!

Definitely a boutique hotel - individual rooms (despite previous comments room size was good if you're expecting to be out all day, ensuite shower was lovely) The hotel is in a designated heritage area, in an original building and surrounded by history. Easy access across the creek to the Souks (gold, spices and fabrics in 3 areas). Staff were exceptionally...

Very difficult to find----especially at night. Poor signage. Taxes and service charge were more than expected. Even a coffee outside of the breakfast was expensive. Not sure why boutique hotels are more expensive. What makes a hotel qualify as boutique? Location was very good. Able to walk around easily. Very safe!

Loved the charm of this hotel. The food was great and we also especially enjoyed the fresh lime and mint iced drink ch was new to us. Great value and the room was clean and well furnished. Helpful staff.

Quiet, well appointed, the art made for an interesting decor; rooms were comfortable and had everything. On a business I just had to escape the 5 star Dubai hotel for something with a soul, I made a good choice with XVA. Will be back with family one day.

Staying in The Creek

Neighbourhood Profile
The Creek
The smell of frankincense hangs thick and heavy in the air, waves lap gently at jetties, and market traders call to passing tourists. The creek, originally the place where pearl boats docked and left on missions to uncover jewels from the deep, is where the city really began. The Al Fahidi District on the Creekside is one of the oldest heritage sites in Dubai, easily recognizable with its iconic wind towers, the original air conditioning. Home to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the Dubai Museum, the old buildings also house a range of cafes, shops and art galleries. Often called “the real Dubai,” this is a wonderful place to lose yourself before catching an abra across the creek to the spice souk, where your senses will be overwhelmed with tastes, smells, and sounds.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A stylish and peaceful boutique hotel, XVA is set within the heart of Al Fahidi quarter, formerly known as Bastakiya, the oldest region of Dubai. Unique for its Persian architectural heritage, its maze-like alleyways and proximity to the Creek, Al Fahidi is viewed today as one of the cultural centrepoints of Dubai. XVA occupies a renovated traditional majilis-style building, boasting original architectural motifs and wind towers and three open courtyards, in which one can relax and soak up the exceptional atmosphere of this heritage space. XVA’s Art Hotel includes twelve boutique rooms, designed by well-established designers and artists from the region. These include Zayan Ghandour, Numa, Nada Debs & Karim Rashid (Gaia&Gino). The XVA Art Hotel is covered in many national and international travel publications. Featured in Condé Nast Traveller as one of the 10 hotels to stay in Dubai and in 2006 as the number 1 “Not To Miss” spot in Dubai, Wallpaper magazine mentioned us as a boutique hotel to stay. Lonely planet listed us twice in their recent Dubai guide as a place to stay and to have lunch. For transit travellers, this hotel is ideal due to its close proximity to Dubai International airport. ... more   less
