Nice hotel, for relaxing and meditation ... need to have more activities since it is far away from the city .. they need to update their Menus and review the quality of the dishes , we didn't like that much the food , it was an average ..

An amazing place, set up exactly like a traditional Arabic village.. Great service and excellent rooms The pool is scattered and the walls can hurt.. So be careful! Food, options for Arabic food is less but has a very good buffet! All in all a wonderful place! Worth every penny spent!

Stayed 1 night in July with my wife and another couple. Arranged an early check in at 12.00 and a late check out at 2.00pm the next day at no extra cost. The whole experience was great: staff were friendly and welcoming; room was spacious/ large king size bed/ large bathroom/ bed turned down and slippers left beside bed in...

My wife and our toddler wanted to take a break from the city life and one of the resorts that we narrowed down was the Bab Al Shams resort; I must say it was one of the best choices ever. Deep in the desert, we have an awesome property with the architecture touching the arabica nights fairytales. We were welcomed...

2 rooms, 4 adults over 2 nights during the Ramadan period. I think Bab Al Shams is deserving of many accolades (including Best Desert Resort in the UAE/World), although like every other establishment there are points for improvement. Undoubtedly some reviews will draw comparisons with main competitors. Particularly strong points: (a) Service was a key feature. They always greeted with...

I stayed here between Christmas and New Year whilst visiting a friend in Abu Dhabi. We took a taxi from her home in Abu Dhabi to the resort, took about 50 minutes and wasn't that much money. You drive into the Desert into the middle of nowhere and then this wonderful resort appears. The experience was amazing, quite surreal. Whilst...

Bab al Sham is a special place. I joined up with three school friends (mid forties). We had a lot of fun not least because Bab al Sham is beautiful! (Don't forget your camera!). My favourite experience there was at al Sarab the roof top bar, listening to the most hauntingly, beautiful Arabic (which is not my culture) music. I...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Translated from Arabic as "Gateway to the sun", the *award-winning 5-star Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa is designed to resemble a fortified rural Arab village amidst the desert landscape. Featuring low-rise architecture, this sandy coloured style fort boasts the main tower with Reception area and lobby and clusters of two-storey buildings housing guest accommodation, restaurants, spa and meeting facilities interconnected by seemingly endless little walkways. The charm of Arabia is personified in every corner of the property with small lanes running through the hotel, scattered around ponds and secluded seating areas, shaded courtyards, water fountains and trickling streams bestowing the feel of cool tranquillity. The abundance of green garden areas and manicured lawns adds to the quiet and soothing environment of the resort. The rustic Arabian theme of exterior design continues to flow in the carefully selected interior decorations and settings featuring uncovered natural stone floors, bare plastered walls, dark wood and iron fixtures, warm dimmed lighting and an abundance of artefacts showcased throughout the property. The resort boasts 113 rooms and suites offering cosy accommodation in an authentic Arabian style with majority of the rooms having a private terrace. All guest rooms and public areas have complimentary Wi-Fi access. *World's Leading Desert Resort, World Travel Awards. ... more   less
