There are now three Sayo estblishments- this one was located on river and is known as sayo river guesthouse. I booked in advance by internet and no problems with the booking. The location on the river was great - short walk into town and near to all attractions. I opted for a downstairs room $30 US a night- they no...

Beautiful quiet, location but still only a stroll from the rivers, main street shops, restaurants and night market. Attentive staff and well-maintained rooms. No complaints - really enjoyed our stay. Highly recommended.

Sayo Riverside is well located on the riverfront in Luang Prabang. At $50 per night our room was overpriced (stick with the $40 rooms). Both mornings the lights in our room fused in the bathroom leaving us showering in the dark. After a long and unpleasant discussion the manager gave us a $5 per night discount. I would pay the...

To our regret, we ignored the reviews of others who had their reservations canceled or ignored by the Sayo. Despite emailing them directly 3 months in advance, confirming a week before arrival, and phoning them at 4:00 pm the day of arrival, by 6:30 pm they gave away our room. No attempt to find us alternate accommodation, just "go somewhere...

We had a large bedroom and bathroom with a marble tub and a detached showerhead. We had some lizards and flying insects that got into the room, but the mosquito net protected us from getting any bites during the night. The room had TV and A/C. the staff was nice. The room is on the Mekong and like most places...

We booked the 2 corner upstairs rooms 6 months before our trip and confirmed it again 3 days before we left to travel to Laos. Despite this, when we arrived, one of the rooms was not available (it had been let to another couple). The manager was not available as he'd gone to the airport, which was only 20 mins...

This place was a case of feeling very pleased to pick this one from the book. The location is quiet and right in front of the manificent Mekong. It is a bit far away from the centre of town but that is good exercise and it is a lovely walk past monks and wats and old houses. Cosy, nice location...

We arrived at the central guest house we had made a reservation at and were told our room was no longer available, we could have a different (small) room or go to the riverside guesthouse. We went to the riverside site, where the fan was so loud and vibrated so that we couldn't sleep. The management was unapologetic and we...

We stayed at the Sayo for four nights and loved it. We had an upstairs double room at the front of the old French colonial building ($30 in off season). The room overlooked Wat Xieng Mouane across the street, and we could watch the monks going about their daily business. Air condtioning worked well, but we only used it at...
