I was shocked at how expensive it was to stay in Luang Prabang during tourist season - this place was the best value for money but still blew my budget with no dorm rooms available the night I stayed. Luang Prabang is the most expensive place in Thailand and Laos - I was out of there the next day with...

The only real positive thing about this place is the price: 40.000 for a bed in a 4 bed dorm. The staff was unfriendly and not organized (they tried to charge me too much), the room was just unpleasant and not clean. But don't get me started on the alcoholic American manager Jason, that was probably the worst thing. When...

So we got off the slow boat and stayed at Sokdee, had a double room which was nice, beds comfy and shower was good. The major let down was the staff though, they literally couldn't care less about the customers, not helpful at all. This morning I tried to start conversing with 'Noi' but all he wanted to know was...

Sokdee guest house was a nice quiet place to stay within Luang Prabang. Centrally located withing walking distance from the night markets and the mighty Mekong river. Full of friendly staff which were accomadating towards our group.

Sokdee Guesthouse is a family run operation with a manager from the states who can help arrange everything you need in the area. Whether recommendations on what to see or eat, renting motorbikes, booking tours, changing money, etc. One block off the river and minutes away from the night market and restaurants by foot. Ask for Jason and he'll get...

This place makes up for its lack of luxury with fun and convenience! Great local family, American manager. You can get everything you need in one place...exchange money, buy tickets, rent a bike, book tours. They'll even pick you up from the slow boat! I spent hours at the table out front hanging out, using wifi, drinking cheap beer and...

Room was ok, not very clean though. Staff didn't show interest to assist. Breakfast was ok, took a while to prepare it. As I mentioned, staff didn't do their best to make us feel welcomed. Nice backpackers come and it's good place to meet other travellers. Location is good.

We stayed here after getting off the slow boat and being bombarded by the tuk tuk driver who was also the owner we stayed. We were sold on the free breakfast, free rice and noodles and free whisky. Do not stay here!!!! The rooms are unclean and bathroom had a horrible onion smell. The owner tried to charge us twice...

We stayed here as a couple in a private room for 1 (awful) night. We were handed leaflets for this place on getting off the slow boat. Sold by the travellers who were staying here for free as part of a work away exchange and tired from our 3 day journey we decided to go for it... To our own...
