Gorgeous bungalows by the river, great staff who were endlessly helpful and cheery, good food. We couldn't fault the place. Definitely some quirky features, but for the price and location it was phenomenal. Yummy soup breakfast on your balcony watching the morning activity on the river is just seriously hard to beat!!

I'm a little unsure how to rate this place - our reactions alternated between 'charming' to 'What the....?' Thong Bay is pretty, well tended and clean, and generally very quiet in comparison to places in town. The little bungalows are roomy enough but they had the usual Laotian bathroom scourge of blocked drains and inconsistent showers. We stayed in two...

My wife & I spent 8 of our 14 nights away at Thong Bay & it was the high point of our visit to the region. We had a bungalow overlooking the river which we found to be very comfortable. The bungalows have a rustic but functional design which provide a high level of comfort for their low environmental impact....

This guest house is very relaxing..there is no air-conditioning, but once you get over that it's a lovely place and quite nice to sleep with the fan on and windows open. It is a little out of town so it's a tuk tuk ride or you can take the free mini van at set times during the morning and afternoon....

The surrounding are nice, good view on the river- The bungalows on piles are made of bamboos laotian style- the rooms are simple with fan and mosquitos nets on the beds-basic bathroom with shower-it is nice for young people as the prices are O.K breakfast included..It is a bit far from town but you can rent a bicycle or take the...

Dear Guest, thank you for your review. My name is Oudomvilay Inthavong and I am the owner of Thongbay Guesthouse. I was a little bit surprised, when I read your review. Because you were in Thongbay Guesthouse in April 2014 and your review you only write in October 2014 and you inform the guests: Not very safe to stay there!...

Location is a bit outside of Luang Prabang;15 minute walk, 10 minutes by bicycle (provided free) or 5 minutes with free guesthouse shuttle. Excellent view over river from the terraces of the riverside bungalows. Very good service from all staff. Clean and quiet; perhaps 8 - 10 bungalows in total with well kept gardens and relaxing atmosphere. Breakfasts were served...

This is a beautiful, peaceful establishment. You feel at ease and are made well and truly at home as soon as you arrive. Most of the staff speak English and are very happy to speak with you and will go out of their way to accommodate your every wish. My daughter had food poisoning when we visited here (not from...

This is a lovely guesthouse that puts you so very close to nature. Waking up to birdcalls was a great experience. The rooms are elevated and entirely made of wood. Breakfast on the balcony is a really fun experience. This is a perfect hotel to just laze around and relax at. Friendly cats wandering around add to the charm of...

Situated approx 5 mins drive from town. There is a regular shuttle bus for drop offs and pick ups. Very efficient. The river front bungalows have a view over the river and into the jungle. Rooms are spacious, rustic bungalow style. No air conditioning but the fans were perfect. Clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was served on your private balcony...

This place was absolutely perfect. We loved every minute here. The staff were AMAZING, so friendly and accommodating and their English was fantastic. Breakfasts were served on the balcony of our riverfront Bungalow (which I would recommend as the views over the river in the morning are really relaxing) and they were filling and tasty. Rooms were comfortable, bearing in...
