A three mile ride on a rescue elephant is a thrill of a life time. Started on an elephant seat but quickly moved to sitting on the elephant's neck, just over her head. Safer and more comfortable. Finished with a refreshing swim at a waterfall and a four course lunch . Saw the vet's office and the daily medical record...

We had a wonderful day here. We tried our best to find an elephant sanctuary that really treated the animals well and with respect and we found that here. The animals were having a great time playing and roaming freely. The service from the staff was excellent, the property itself is gorgeous and our meals were great. Highly recommend

Treated like royalty from start to end! This was a huge splurge for us -- a once-in-a-lifetime experience. And it did not disappoint! We had our own personal guide who was with us from pick up to drop off and took care of our every need. The lodging is spectacular. The grounds are breath-taking. But of course the main attraction...

My wife and I selected a full day tour at the Elephant Village. Our guide was Mack. Mack was very energetic, knowledgable and a great guide. He knew when to be funny and when to be serious. He educated us on the elephants and did not rush us at all when we stopped to take pictures or wanted to linger...

My husband and I did the full day excursion at Shangri Lao (it is affiliated with Elephant Village) and had a great time. We learned about the elephants at the sanctuary, how they cared for and how they are treated well. We then met two baby elephants, swam in beautiful water falls, went for a nice moderate hike and then...

This experience exceeded our expectations. It was a unique and fun filled adventure being able to ride the elephants through the jungle and take them down to the river for 'their'' bath. Our over night accommodations were very special as well. They were not really tents, but more like an opulent bungalow with an exotic flare. You just felt very...

We had the 1 day tour with Mr. Soukanh and it was an unforgettable day. It was just wonderful. It seems a little expensive but definitely it is worth the money. I recommend the tour and do it with Mr. Soukanh

My wife and I visited Shangri Lao on our honeymoon and had an amazing time. The guides were all very well-versed about the elephants and treated the elephants well. The tour took us through some beautiful areas as well. Highly recommend to anyone who goes to Luang Prabang.

Initially I had mixed feelings about going on this half day tour, from Luang Prabang, which had been arranged for me as a part of a 10 day tour of Laos. The negative aspect that concerned me was the potential exploitation of elephants just to cater to to the whim of tourists, like me. Those feelings were dispelled by Mr....

Located in the middle of the beautiful Laotian jungle in Luang Prabang, Shangri-Lao Classic Explorer Camp & Expeditions, invites you to re-live the adventures of Dr. P. Neis, an historic French explorer from the 19th century. Re-trace his footsteps along the very same tranquil streams and dense jungle in his original and authentic style whilst staying in luxury tents with breathtaking views just as he did in 1883. Sit atop the magnificent elephant as she slowly and peacefully takes you through the pristine jungle, though spectacular Teak forests and by local farms. With a choice to stay overnight in our stunning tents; you will wake up refreshed the next day with a new sense of being in the world.
