I give this otherwise lovely hotel my worst possible rating for one reason. Theft. There is a sign in the room that warns to lock up all valuables. I understand why now. I had 50 dollars lifted from my bags my the bellman somewhere between my room and checkout. Caveat emptor

We would take any allegation of theft extremely seriously and should such an allegation be made to the Hotel Management it would be thoroughly investigated immediately and the Police informed. Unfortunately the first we knew about this alleged theft was the report in Trip Advisor. Furthermore it is the first time that such an allegation has been made about the...

We booked the hotel for its location - to be away from any hustle and bustle, and the pool area. The grounds are beautiful, and the pool area is phenomenal. It's fabulous lying there surrounded by the Laos mountains. Its an idyllic spot - one that I haven't experienced before. Breakfast was quite good. Lunch was good, although lacked atmosphere...

Agree with many previous (positive) reviews. Very glad to stay there after several days in town, to end our trip. Loved the gardens, the meals right above the river, the super pool, the history of the palace.... look at different sites to pre-book as prices vary. We got low season price when other sites had high season prices. Would not...

I was here for a long weekend with four friends and we had a wonderful time. It was in the low season and we were upgraded to first floor rooms overlooking the Mekong which was lovely. There were only one or two other groups staying and it was quiet and peaceful - just what we wanted. I would definitely recommend...

I stayed for 4 nights and had a room overlooking the Mekong. It was not my first choice as other preferences were booked. As others have said the grounds are excellent and peaceful. The pool area is well set out and not a typical hotel pool surrounding, giving it a special feeling. If you are staying for only one or...

The Grand has its positives and negatives: Positives >Beautiful and well maintained grounds; >Attractive architecture; >Included breakfast overlooking the Mekong River; >Friendly staff; Negatives >15 minutes to town (the hotel has limited shuttle runs and when not available, the hotel shuttle, if around, was available for a nominal charge), where there are better options; >Room service tray was not cleaned...

The hotel - as others have said - has much going for it. Most notably, the beautiful grounds and the location on a lazy bend in the Mekong. Waking to the fog on the river and going to sleep with the sound of someone putt-putting back to their village was wonderful. We did have our challenges with service. On our...

We just stayed at The Grand. In doing this review, I will try and give you an accurate & atmospheric description of the hotel having spent 6 years in Asia and noting some of the comments on trip advisor. The staff are without doubt charming, smiley, helpful and friendly. Our room overlooked the mighty Mekong as well as the beautiful...

I spent 5 nights at the Grand with 10 friends to celebrate my birthday in September. It was wonderful: the rooms spacious with Balconies overlooking the beautiful Mekong. The gardens were beautifully kept, the horizon pool was large enough for 11 Australians to enjoy and the restaurant staff and food were fantastic. The trips into LP were not a problem,...
