We stayed three nights at the Grand and enjoyed every minute; with my young family (aged 7, 8 & 14) in adjoining rooms. Staff very helpful and efficient. The splendid gardens, colonnades, and views over the Mekong make this a very special place. For our children the beautiful pool was a winner, along with the Table Tennis setup. Lovely place...

Stayed for two nights at the Grand to end our stay in Laos relaxing. Setting is very quiet with nice landscaping and great Meking river views. The rooms are generally in need of refurbishment (comparing with other Lao locations), nothing urgent but not very good value for what you're paying. Food and drinks are pretty good in the hotel and...

We have just returned from a 5D/4N stay. We booked this hotel through an agent in HK. Since we have 3 young children, 6 and almost 4 yo twins, we wanted 2 connecting rooms, and ideally a pool. This wasn't very easy. In the end we had a 1-bedroom suite with connecting bedroom (room 611 / 612). Very very spacious,...

Yes, as per the other reviews, it does have a "shabby chic" feel. But its neat, clean and you cant beat the location for a real holiday feeling. Also the pool area is lovely. Breakfast is buffet style and served on the banks of the mekong. Most peoples tastes are catered for - Western and local dishes - and you...

This is the former residence of the last Prince and the grounds are beautiful and very well kept. The view of these grounds and the Mekong River was so relaxing and serene after leaving the frenetic activity of the hotels in Viet Nam. I laid by the pool and only heard the twittering of birds...The staff was very attentive and...

The hotel is very nice and quiet. They keep the original old and traditional buiding as well as surrounding environments of nature. Beautiful garden, nice staff. Since the building is quite old, buid up by wood, there have a noisy when we walked in room/hotel building. However I love this hotel and will find chance to come back again.

My wife & I and three other couples stayed at the Grand in March of this year. We found the hotel to be 'tired' and in need of some TLC, which could be quite expensive. We enjoyed our three nights as the ambiance of colonialism added to the charm. The gardens and position of the hotel overlooking the Mekong River...

Greeted on arrival by driver with a cold water and towel. First impressions of the hotel was run down. Check in was swift and efficeint. Room spacious and comfortable, while the bed was firm it was the most comfortable of our stay. We chose the hotel due to its riverside location and the pool. The location delivered. The pool while...

We are frequent travelers in the region and used to all kind of accomodation, from guest houses to luxury hotels. At the Grand, we found a very special ''outmoded'' atmosphere with a definite charm, very far from the chain/design types of properties which are sometimes so cold and sterilized. It is true that some amenities are a bit outdated and...

We stayed at this resort for 5 days and absolutely loved it. I can understand though, how this hotel would not be the best choice for all. I think it is more suited to older people, or people with families who appreciate space. I was travelling with parents (late 70's, myself and an 8 year old). What made this hotel...
