The official name of this sedate country is Lao People’s Democratic Republic, or Lao PDR (during French occupation, Westerners called it Laos). When there, the friendly residents whimsically said that PDR stands for People Don’t Rush☺ More than humor, I found that to be true. Especially at Ang Thong Hotel. Service is efficient, registration staff friendly, and our tour group...

This hotel is not central to the old town of Luang Prabang--but it is very cheap to take a tuk-tuk to town. It is a comfortable hotel--a bit of an oasis. It has a nice pool nice and a good hot breakfast. Clean large rooms. The pillows are all too high! Laundry was very reasonable--a bag was charged by the...

Spacious rooms with terraces and refrigerators make this a great stop while visiting Luang Prabang. Beautiful pool and very courteous staff. Big drawback is that the location is quite far out of town, and takes 10-15 minutes by taxi to get anywhere. Also breakfast buffet was not that great, the coffee was awful. However this is a very clean boutique...

The hotel is located outside of the center of town. You do need to use a jumbo to get in and out of town but it is reasonably priced ($5 each way). The rooms are large with simple but nice décor. The rooms are kept very clean and are well maintained. The pool is small and unheated but nice for...

Beautifully appointed teak trimmed rooms with floor to ceiling windows on two sides, one facing a private courtyard. Small but lovely pool area. Excellent breakfast buffet. Only minor drawback might be for some people that the location is a few minutes by taxi to the town centre.

This a very pleasant hotel. You will need to use "tuk tuks" to get anywhere, not much in the area in the way of restaurants or shops. The breakfast room was very small the choices minimum but good. The beds were very hard.

The hotel itself is far from the city. Guests need at least 10 mins bicycle ride (hotel's complimentary)to the city. Or paying around Kips 30,000 for one-way tuk tuk ride. Room is excellent, large, clean daily, plus the balcony space. Hotel overall is 3 1/2 star local-run accommodation. So guests cannot expect much on staff and breakfast. We found one...

This hotel has a really lovely pool & garden area. The main reason to choose this hotel was to have a relaxing and quiet time tanning and swimming. We were quite satisfied with this hotel but there were some downsides. First it is far away from everything that you need to take a tuk-tuk even for a simple meal. The...
