This is a fantastic hotel in the heart of Luang Prabang without being right in the town centre it’s a true oasis of calm in a busy town. The staff are second to none and always on hand to help and drive you into the centre and even pick you up after. True 5 star service.
Rooms spacious lovely slate tiled bathroom which were both spotless. Grounds well maintained and peaceful Great air con too! A true gem would definitely recommend to all

I recently stayed at the Souphattra Hotel in Luang Prabang, part of the same Lao Derm group as the Souphattra Heritage in Vientiane, where I previously had a pleasant experience. Unfortunately, the stay at the Luang Prabang property fell short of my expectations.

Location
The hotel’s location is quite far from the city center, which means you’ll need to spend 60,000-80,000 LAK on transportation each way. While the hotel provides a complimentary tuk-tuk service, it’s only for getting to the center, not for the return trip.

Breakfast and Dining
Breakfast is à la carte, and I noticed the ingredients weren’t as high-quality as what I experienced at their Vientiane property. The food simply didn’t live up to the standard I was expecting.

Facilities
The pool area is spacious, but when I visited, it was littered with leaves and dirt, making it unappealing. I had to request that it be cleaned so I could swim. Once cleaned, it was fine, but it would have been better if it had been maintained more proactively.

Room
The room itself was satisfactory, with all the necessary amenities. However, what stood out most during my stay was the lack of atmosphere. From the front desk to the F&B staff, there was an unwelcoming vibe that was difficult to put into words. It felt like something essential was missing—perhaps a sense of warmth or hospitality that would have made the stay more enjoyable.

Overall
I would give this hotel a 4 out of 10, as I hope they will take this feedback and improve. There is potential here, but a few key areas need attention to create the kind of memorable experience that a hotel like this should offer.

Dear GM Tran, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your recent stay with us at Souphattra Hotel Luang Prabang. We truly value your insights, as they help us identify areas for improvement and enhance our guests' experience. Location: Our hotel is indeed located 1.5 km from the city center, and we offer a complimentary tuk-tuk service to and from the city center upon request between 7:00 and 21:30. We apologize if there was any misunderstanding or if our staff did not clearly explain the availability of the return service. We will ensure that this is better communicated to all guests in the future. Breakfast and Dining: We appreciate your comments on the breakfast, and we will review our offerings to ensure they meet the same high standards as our sister property in Vientiane. Your feedback is important, and we are committed to making the necessary adjustments. Facilities: Thank you for bringing the pool maintenance issue to our attention. We will address this promptly with our team to ensure the pool area is always well-maintained and ready for our guests to enjoy. Atmosphere and Hospitality: We are sorry to hear that you felt a lack of warmth during your stay. We take great pride in providing exceptional hospitality, and we will review your experience with our team to ensure that every guest feels genuinely welcomed and cared for. Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback. We will take immediate action to address each of your comments. We sincerely hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future, where we are confident your stay will meet all your expectations. Warm Regards, Douangchanh CHANHMA Hotel Manager

Lovely rooms in pleasant grounds on outskirts of town. The room has everything you require including tea and coffee making facilities, fresh fruit and excellent bed linen. The dining room for breakfast was excellent but for all day dining was rather ‘hit and miss’. Six of us dined one evening and our orders came out one at a time so that each person had to start eating as their food came out before it was cold and eventually the 6th meal was announced to have ‘run out’. This was a pizza! The following lunchtime the same Happened, except with French fries! Dining room staff seemed to be at cross purposes and lacked leadership. A good restaurant manager would be able to sort this I’m sure.
Some staff members were charming and very helpful, others more reluctant to serve.
Would I stay again? Yes, but would arrange to dine elsewhere apart from breakfast

Dear TravellingoneSwansea, Thank you for sharing your feedback about your stay with us. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed our comfortable rooms, peaceful grounds, and the little touches like fresh fruit and quality bed linen. It’s also great to know you liked the breakfast experience. We’re very sorry about the issues you faced during lunch and dinner. We understand how disappointing it must have been to have meals served at different times and for one order to run out. We are working with our team to improve how we manage service in the restaurant, and we’re confident we’ll do better in the future. While some of our staff made a good impression, we’re sorry that others didn’t provide the service you deserved. We’ll continue training our team to ensure all our guests feel well taken care of. Thank you again for your helpful comments. We’re happy to know you’d stay with us again, and we look forward to welcoming you back. Next time, we’ll do our best to make sure everything is just right! Warm regards, Douangchanh CHANHMA Hotel Manager

Charming hotel, very kind staff, good food, great accommodation. It's a 4-star with a way of 5. Open the bed at night, there are several mimos in the bathroom, Nespresso and free tea.
One note: the air conditioning does not have the hot option.
There is transportation to the city centre until 9:00.

The place is not that far from the town center, and they also provide free tuk tuk and bikes. Since I love biking, I am able to make solo tours to all the tourist places in the town (night market, UXO, museum, temples, and Mekong River port). The staff are very friendly, and for me, the services are really good. I love their local salad and breakfast menu.
I will be back soon.

It’s a lovely hotel and very comfortable. We booked a double but on arrival were given a twin room. All they did was push the beds together! That meant we couldn’t get to the light switches and the headboards no longer lined up with the beds. Not a big deal but not great either.
Breakfast room staff were slow to clear plates, so I did it.
Thank goodness for Throngdy, the front office manager, he was wonderful and efficient. He arranged all my request quickly and confirmed them with me.
Overall, it was a good four days at the Souphattra and I would stay there again, even though it is a bit far out from the delightful town centre.

This is a beautiful colonial style hotel with friendly staff. Our room with balcony was clean and spacious with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was not particularly well designed with hardly any space for toiletries on the vanity and the shower temperature was erratic.
Our criticism of this hotel is that it hosted conferences every day of our stay which severely intruded on our use of the pool and on one day all the sun loungers were removed to provide space for cocktail tables at the poolside for a conference but that meant we and other guests couldn’t use the pool facilities that day.
There was a lot of noise all week from an adjacent building site, and on our last day there was a lot of noise lasting hours from strimming the lawns (don’t know why they don’t have a lawn mower, it would be much quicker). The final straw for us was that they decided at 5.30 pm (in the middle of happy hour!) to spray the pool and bar area with toxic mosquito spray when we were enjoying a glass of wine on our balcony.
This hotel should decide whether it wants to provide holiday accommodation OR conference facilities. They cannot do both.
Reluctantly my advice is to go somewhere else.

Dear Ian C, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback about your recent stay with us. We greatly appreciate your compliments on our colonial style architecture, friendly staff, and the comfort of your room. Your positive observations mean a lot to us. We are, however, truly sorry to hear about the inconveniences you experienced during your stay. Providing an exceptional experience for all our guests is our priority, and we regret that we fell short in some areas. Your comments about the bathroom design and shower temperature have been noted, and we will review these aspects to improve the functionality and comfort for future guests. Regarding the conferences, we apologize for any disruption they caused to your use of the pool area. While we strive to balance being a welcoming holiday destination and hosting events, we understand that this impacted your overall experience. Your feedback will help us improve how we manage such situations to ensure that all guests can enjoy our facilities comfortably. We also regret the noise disturbances from the nearby construction and lawn maintenance. While some of these factors are beyond our control, we will work on minimizing their impact on our guests. Additionally, we apologize for the mistimed mosquito spray application. We’ll adjust our schedule for these treatments to avoid interfering with guest enjoyment. Your constructive feedback is invaluable to us, and we will use it to improve our services and operations. We sincerely hope that you might consider giving us another opportunity to provide you with a more enjoyable and seamless stay in the future. Warm regards, Douangchanh CHANHMA Hotel Manager

If you want to stay in the best hotel in Luang Prabang, book a room at Souphattra Hotel! We’ve stayed at the hotel for 15 nights and really enjoyed each day here!
From check-in to check-out, everything was amazing!

This is definitely one of the best maintained hotels in South East Asia, and we have stayed in many hotels!
Everything is extremely clean and luxurious!
The rooms are specious, extremely clean, provided with perfect beds, aircon and bathroom.

The entire staff is amazing as well. From breakfast to reception! The gardeners take care of a clean and maintained garden to relax, and the beautiful swimming pool makes it complete.

The distance to the city center; by (free) bicycle you will reach the night market in less than 10 minutes, but if you don’t want to cycle, a free shuttle service (provided by the hotel) will drop you off, and pick you up later on.

Breakfast is fully equipped with a buffet, as well “ a la carte”.

Summarized; the best place to stay when you want to visit Luang Prabang. We will definitely book a room again at Souphattra, when we come back to Luang Prabang.

Greetings, Maurits and family

Although it was only a short stay of 2 nights and 3 days but we were impressed of the great services received. The staffs were super polite, friendly and attentive. The rooms were always sparkly cleaned, as the staffs always keep coming to cleab up as soon as we step away which is 3-4 times a day. On top of the great services mentioned, the hotel also provide FREE pick up and drop off to anywhere you want to go whether it is near or far upon request. So we used their service a lot and to be honest we have saved a lot of money. We have also checked that it is the service they also provide to the guests and not because it is low season this time.
