This new hotel (opened April 2010 to guests) is quietly situated on the banks of the Khan River, arguably the most relaxing place on the peninsula, right in the heart of the UNESCO Heritage part of town. The rooms are stylishly decorated and offer most modern facilities. A stroll to the town main strip takes about 15 minutes. All places of interest are just outside our lobby door. Day trips can be booked at our reception or just ask us for advice. Green season promotions from April through to October, mail us!

We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel VDR whilst visiting the beautiful Luang Prabang. The staff were warm, welcoming and courteous and always greeted you with a smile. The room was big and clean with good facilities (safe, fridge, tea/coffee, air con) etc. The shower was slightly disappointing as,although powerful, the water sprayed out everywhere from the shower head. The breakfast was fantastic, good choice and very filling, we enjoyed eating outside and looking out over the river. There was a welcome book in the room with lots of helpful information about the area and suggested restaurants. We tried the french bakery (le banneton) and dyen sabai which were both excellent. Overall a lovely stay at hotel VDR and would definitely recommend.

Due to an unexpected situation, we were kindly moved from our original hotel to Villa Deux Rivieres where the management provided us with excellent, spacious accommodation overlooking the Nam Khan river. We were later moved to a different room which was also very comfortable and beautifully furnished. The location was excellent as we were easily able to walk to the main shopping areas, temples and restaurants in this beautiful city. The villa is well set up for breakfast, and we enjoyed ours on the verandah overlooking the river. Although not all reception staff are fluent in English, they went out of their way to help us, especially with booking transport. We traveled to Laos in early December which was sunny and dry during the day but quite cold at night. If travelling at this time of year, consider packing a jumper and warm sleepwear. The villa organised to have laundry done for us - cheap and of a high standard.…

Location is perfect, near everything: the sites, the route of the Tak bat ceremony, the must try restaurants, very good Lao massage place. It's across the quiet side of the river, near where the Mekong and Nam Kahn River converges. Rooms and toilets are very spacious and very clean. Amenities are complete. Water pressure is very strong. Free breakfast is sumptuous, delicious and well made. Even though it's not a buffet, we were very satisfied with the selection of food. Staff are all very gracious, always nice and smiling, and very fast with their service. They made us feel at home. Given the opportunity, we will stay at this hotel again and will highly recommend to friends and family.

Great value, beautiful rooms an enormous breakfast and very friendly staff. Very close to where the Mekong and the Nam Khan meet. They also have a shuttle service to and from the airport and a perfect spot to check out this UNESCO world heritage site

Initially, this place was a disappointment, as the room we were given simply didn't work. The A/C, door locks, lockbox, nothing worked right. After the first night, we asked to change rooms, and we were upgraded without any hassle. After that, everything was fine. One highlight worth mentioning is they serve a very good breakfast.

Villa Deux Rivieres We stayed at Villa Deux Rivieres for 4 nights. We had a lovely room in the front of the building along the street side overlooking the river. We enjoyed breakfast on the veranda in front of our room each morning as we watched the river go by. Our room was clean, comfortable and breakfast delicious. The staff was always so helpful during our stay especially Hoem pheng and air. I highly recommend Villa Deux Rivieres for your stay in Luang Prabang.

Villa Deux Rivieres is situated almost at the point of the Luang Prabang peninsula overlooking the Nam Khan River just before it joins the mighty Mekong River yet is only a 10 minute walk to the old town centre. Our room was decorated in a modern Laotian style with a well appointed bathroom and a balcony from which one could watch the river traffic and the few pedestrians on the pavement below. The breakfast of eggs any style, fresh fruit and juices and a selection of breads and patisseries was served on a pleasant veranda at the front of the villa by a friendly and attentive staff. Mention must be given to the Welsh manageress, whose name escapes me, for her excellent advice on things to do and see. We enjoyed and excellent 3 night stay and would recommend the Villa for service, comfort and location.…

Lovely hotel, in a perfect spot near the heart of Luang Prabang. Room was clean and had all the mod cons. Hotel itself was very pleasant, staff were excellent. Best breakfast we’ve had so far on our travels.

This hotel is basically at the apex of where the two rivers meet. It’s very charming and the staff are really nice (Air was great!). the accommodations are solid- good water pressure, strong AC in the rooms and for the most part decent internet. It’s about a 10min walk to main strip which is great to come home to peace and quiet. Breakfast is basic but enough to tide one over until lunch. Would recommend for the easy going traveler.

My friend and I stayed here during our visit in March Sophie and her staff were so friendly and made us felt welcome. I recommend this area of Luang Prabang as it is close to everything but doesn’t have the noise that the Mekong side has with trafffic Breakfast was lovely.
