Want to be woken up by a rooster at 4am followed by a call to prayer at 5am, walk up 2 flights of stairs because there is no lift? Then try this hotel. Rooms were clean and tidy but right next door to a Mosque (and obviously some chickens). There were 9 in our group and we were all put...

1> You WILL be woken at FIVE AM by the amplified calling to prayers from the nearby Mosque. This worked well for us on the 3rd day as we had an early morning flight but not so well on the other days. 2> The Hotel is in Mandalay, Burma/Myanmar but if you pay in local currency then cop an 11...

The Mandalay City Hotel is hidden away down a covered road way close to all the action. The hotel has very welcoming staff and the rooms are more than adequate and kept clean. The Wi Fi from the rooms can be difficult to access and works better in the foyer. The pool is surrounded by greenery and the dining room...

You never know there is a quiet resort like hotel in the busy down town centre. until you drive through a narrow opening along a row of shop houses fronting a main road. There is a spacious car parking area. You alight at the main entrance and walk through a covered corridor with water features on both sides before entering into...

Entering through an archway, there appeared an oasis of tranquility and cleanliness. Although there was not a lift, it was an easy walk up the steps to the bedrooms. I had a bit of trouble with the locked safe-deposit box in the room, but that was soon resolved. Whilst a kettle had been provided, the socket was so close to...

I don't know what the general standard is in Mandalay but I was expecting more for this price. The room was nice and spacious (although I was given a twin room with single beds). The bathroom was nice but there were consistent problems getting hot water. TV and internet were unreliable. Also, the wifi is only supposed to be in...

This is an excellent small (3 floors) hotel right in the centre of Mandalay. The staff were outstanding and so helpful. Nothing was too much of a problem to them. The rooms are large and well set up. For US$85 the hotel is outstanding value. The breakfast that was included, was great with fresh omelets or eggs cooked to your...

To be honest we'd only chosen this hotel for its swimmingpool. Being here 4 nights in july we felt that we were in a need of that. Also because we were travelling with our 15 year old son, and we thought a pool would be great for him too. We made a booking trough 7diamonds travel-agency for 83$ a night...

As part of Peregrine trip we had 3 nights at this hotel, no double bed first night - this often seems to be a problem with hotels, and the room had a horrid smell of mothballs, found later to be a "deodoriser" used in some of the hotels. Asked to be moved to double bed room the following night -...

Mandalay sounds exotic but the reality is it is a loud, messy, modern city. You go there as a base for many great sites outside the city. Rolling into Mandalay from the airport we were getting a little down due to the grotty buildings and streets. Our taxi turned into a tight driveway with an overhang between two nondescript buildings...
