If you're looking for something a little nicer than the standard guesthouses but you're also not wanting to pay loads for a really nice hotel we found this to be a really nice in-between option. The rooms and bathrooms are nice and you know you're never going to have to worry about it being damp or the linen not being...

hotel is well situated downtown close to some restaurant/bar/bike rental options. rooms are fairly comfortable, bathroom clean and good hot shower. Breakfast reasonably varied. very friendly staff at reception and breakfast room. I especially appreciated the assistance with booking flights - two travel agents told me all flights were fully booked but the hotelstaff managed to get me two seats!

Ok, this is not Hilton but after traveling in Myanmar I realized that you need to adjust your expectations. Hotels in Myanmar are way overpriced for what they are and with Myanmar being overrun by tourists willing to pay any price to secure a place to crush over night you can't be choosy and they have little incentive to improve....

The Silver Star Hotel in Mandalay in its publicity brochure claims to be just a ten minute walk from the railway station. It might be an exageration as it took us more than ten minutes by car to reach the hotel. Arriving after 11.00pm we showed our confirmation for a room for two people but were told in no uncertain...

$50 is quite a lot of money in Myanmar but gets you nothing in terms of hotels.. A least not what you would expect in the rest van Asia. Rooms are noisy, old furniture, scruffy.. The carpet on the floor doesn't help either. You will get a buffetstyle breakfast and a lift! Free wifi in the hotellobby and friendly ladies...

Plus points: half decent wifi in the reception area so long as not too many other people are trying to use it too; clean; and resonably central. Minus points: dead cockroaches in the ground floor toilet (better than live ones i suppose); no real views; basic breakfast buffet offer with limited choices. Stayed here for two nights when in Mandalay...

good welcome upon arrival, first place in Myanmar out of Yangoon where I have been able to connect (wifi was really good). at breakfast you cannot escape the Asian habit of overcooking everything, service is good and they can also book a flight for you, make sure to do so during the afternoon because they depend from travel agencies that...

Room very clean and bright. Walls and toilet are light in color. This is the first time in my 8-day Myanmar tour that I dare to touch the furniture, lean on walls and sit on chairs inside my room! Another good thing impressed me is the wonderful buffet breakfast, having fried rice and vermicelli and Burmese mohinga. Price is good,...

Stayed here after a horrendous first night at Nylon and felt as if had moved to a Sofitel. The beds were comfortable, they had a generator for blackout, the airconditioning worked, breakfast was sufficient and location to restaurants and the proximity to sights was excellent. A short trishaw ride away. May rate this higher though as partner was sick and...

The Silver Star Hotel was something of a disappointment. The room was OK apart from the stained carpet. There was intermittent in room Internet service but many power cuts; they have a generator; so no problem. Breakfasts were dismal and tasteless with little choice. The lack of a restaurant was a disappointment (but given the poor standard of the breakfasts...
