When we arrived at the hotel entrance with our luggage, the concierge was just standing inside and staring at us without offering to help with our baggages. We managed to drag our luggages up the stairs and into the hotel and then proceeded to wait at the lobby for check in for more than 2 hours . We arrived 1.45pm from Bucharest. The reception told us the check in wasn’t until 3pm which is ok for us but they wouldn’t even check our documents etc and prepare for when the room is ready. At 3pm when we went to the line for check in they have asked us to wait another 15-30 mins as they said the room is not ready. Plus even though we booked 2 rooms for our family they have said they will now give us the rooms in 2 different floors. The lady at the counter was rude and not easy to work with. She wasn’t even able to cross check our names effectively against our passports and vaccination certificate. The check in process wasn’t smooth and it took a long time. We were ticked off about having to wait and expressed our displeasure. We were then given our room keys and as we were dragging our baggage the concierge was once again just standing in the corner looking away. We went to him to request his trolley and help upon which he brought our bags to the room. There are small things you expect when charged 5 star prices and this hotel definitely does not provide that. If you have a choice I highly recommend you book another. The rooms are not equipped with kettles for tea and they have provided plastic cups instead of mugs (again it’s the little things like this that make for a uncomfortable experience in addition plastic is bad for the environment compared to reusable proper mugs). (I want to add that each plastic mug and cup provided in the room is also covered in individual plastic covers. This kind of waste to the environment is completely unnecessary! )

I was recommended to Aro Palace by friends & it was a good choice in many ways. The reception team were very helpful & efficient, indeed, staff were polite & accommodating throughout. I really enjoyed my room, the views were magnificent, having a large window overlooking the city. It was very spacious with a huge bed & quality linens, raised sitting area, & international TV stations. Decor & furnishings were in good order, styling typical of a large, classic hotel. Communal parts are dated, the vast lobby & ground floor restaurant/bar devoid of ambience, it wasn’t a space I wanted to spend time in, so only went for breakfast, which was a bog standard hot & cold buffet. The fine dining top floor restaurant ‘Belvedere’ was closed during my stay & by the looks of it, had been so for some time, the entire area around it on the 8th floor looked neglected. I want to end on a high here though as I really enjoyed my stay, mainly due to the terrific room I had (7th floor); the vistas over Brasov made it so worthwhile.

Like all very large hotels, rooms on the upper floors here become hot at night. Open windows, though having a very fine view, admit a lot of traffic noise. The airconditioning control unit was in a poor state, and the system did not work. There was no fan. Apart from this major problem, the room was excellent. The bed was firm, and there were enough pillows! The elevated seating area allowed enjoyment of the view through the open “ balcony” door. There was proper furniture, and a coffee machine. As expecter, the minibar prices were more than twice the usual rates in Romania. The bathroom was perfect. There was a bath! The basin had a working plug! The hair dryer worked ( is this really Romania?). The buffet breakfast layout was partly duplicated to allow for the large number of rooms, and the arrangements worked well.I did not use the main restaurant. The hotel is well located near to the historic centre, and would be an excellent place to stay if it had air conditioning.

Very poor service. I come for three days now and there's no parking place so I had to leave. And the guy from the parking said that I could have walked instead of taking the car. Just choose ANY other swimming pool.

This hotel could easily be one of the best places to stay at in Brasov for the following reasons: -Great location (in the immediate vicinity of Brasov’s old town centre) -Good quality, modern fixtures. -Decent breakfast selection. -Modern and suitable toilets and bathrooms; good selection of toiletries. -Rooms are up to a good standard. -Swimming pool is nice and modern. In my humble opinion, current staff, possibly management, need further training and some genuine improvements should be made. I have to mention the following: -Reception furniture tatty and dated. -Dirty/stained carpets in communal areas and room. -Spa lockers rather difficult to open, only on one occasion we've had a locker that could be easily opened by the electronic key. Spa staff just abruptly told my wife to pick a different locker next time even though lockers were randomly assigned by them. -No access to car park for drop off. We had to carry our luggage over the communal green patch and across the car park, no assistance whatsoever was provided with the luggage even though an usher was present (he must've thought his only role was to open and close the luggage room adjacent to reception). -waited five days to have the room cleaned (we left the door sign visible on several occasions to no avail). Because of this reason we had to go around looking for someone from the cleaning department repeatedly in order to obtain basic supplies (towels, coffee and toilet paper). -balconies are about 500mm wide and the handrail is very low. -took longer than 1 hour to be given a room; after a 9 hour journey, the 15:00 timeframe for check in as listed by Booking.com is viewed as irrelevant. We were not the only ones in this situation. -the terrace area was turned into a construction site whilst we were there. There was no clear demarcation or segregation between these works and patrons; kids could easily venture in these areas. -Milk is not supplied as basics, we were just bluntly told from reception to go down in the morning and pick it up from the restaurant. Overall, the impression I was given, this establishment is orientated more towards the weekend holidaymakers. Anything beyond that is not really good value for money.
