Nestled close to Dubrovnik's Old Town, Rixos Premium Dubrovnik has been lauded for its stunning sea views and convenient location by guests who enjoy the short journey to local attractions. The hotel's atmosphere is praised for its modernity and live music, despite some finding the decor dated. While the professional staff and luxurious amenities like a spa and delicious dining options are highlights, opinions on cleanliness and value vary, with high costs for food and drinks being a concern for some visitors.

This is a hotel that does what it says on the tin: it could be anywhere in the world but has all the facilities you would expect from a five star hotel. We chose it primarily for its location, a 20-30 minute walk into Dubrovnik old city which we did one morning.

We had a sea view which was definitely worth paying for: lovely to wake up to an open view of the beautiful Adriatic. There’s no shade on the balcony for much of the day so in fact we hardly sat out there but it did add to the feeling of space. The room itself was equally spacious and had an excellent bathroom although, oddly, it had no door. There was a partial obscure glass door to the toilet which felt a bit strange to us.

Personally, I’m not a fan of buffets but my partner absolutely loves them and he reckoned the breakfast and dinner at the hotel were top of the range. The breakfast was particularly good with the best croissants we’ve had outside France.

There didn’t seem to be much to do around the hotel but it was blissfully quiet after the crowds in Dubrovnik old city and we were happy to spend a couple of days in the calm, clean, comfortable environment of the hotel. It was quite windy so too rough to swim in the sea but the pool area is very pleasant and there is a good little snack bar where you can have lunch.

My wife and I recently returned from a very enjoyable holiday in Dubrovnik, staying at the Rixos Premium Hotel on a TUI 7-day holiday (bed and breakfast only).
On arrival we were very kindly given a free upgrade from a standard to a superior room. On arrival, guests are given a complimentary drink of their choice, including champagne, and an individual welcome by Carlo (whose exclusive job role is customer care). Carlo explained the layout of the hotel and its excellent facilities. The hotel is in an outstanding position overlooking the Adriatic
Our room was spacious with a good view. The room was very clean and comfortable with a luxurious bed and very effective air conditioning.
Facilities at the hotel were second to none, including a beach bar and swimming pools inside and outside. My wife used the indoor pool and jacuzzi on several occasions and loved them.
Breakfast was superb with the widest range of food I have ever seen in a hotel. This included champagne, continental breakfast and cooked breakfast (including delicious porridge and a full range of English breakfast items).
The hotel was immaculately maintained and all staff with whom we interacted were friendly and proactively helpful.
The old city in Dubrovnik is easily reached by either a walk of a circa 25-minute walk downhill or, more easily, by taking a number 4 bus from a bus stop less than 5 minutes’ walk from the hotel. These buses runs every 10-15 minutes or so and the cost is 2.5 euros for a single journey if payment (using cash or a contactless payment) is made on the bus for a single journey. Slightly cheaper single tickets costing 1.8 euros can be bought at a bus company ticket booth at the bus terminus point located at the Pile (west) gate.
My wife and I agreed this is the best hotel at which we have stayed, and we intend to return to it in the future.

Just visited with our 2 year old toddler. Lovely hotel with a great sea view room. Room was lovely and plenty of room with travel cot provided. We asked for sunbeds on our balcony so we could sunbath while she had her nap in the day which was great.

The big pool is great and not too deep but the small kids pool is absolutely freezing cold not like the main pool, which is a shame because it was perfect for her to walk around in. Never a problem to get a sunbed by the pool. The pool bar area was the best area for drinks and service was 10/10. There is sea access but not child friendly in my opinion to get in and out.

We went bed and breakfast, breakfast was great lots of options. We did have the Buffett dinner twice which was very good but at a cost of €55 per adult. The food costs by the pool were also very expensive €25 for a salad. Also had no kids menu which was annoying- ended up paying €24 for a cheese pizza for her just to eat 3 slices.

The best bar area is the pool bar. We wished this stayed open all evening, the sports bar is completely empty and boiling hot and also the lobby terrace is so hot it's uncomfortable and also no smoking area so lots of cigar smokers all round. The hotel is pretty boring in the evening this is something that could be improved on.

There is a kids play room by the restaurant which is great for them to burn some energy

The location is great 5 min taxi €5 to old town and 5 min taxi to lapad €5 - use Uber don't use local taxi they are triple the cost

We recommend dinner at incredible India and azur in the old town both delicious.

The gym is also very good and the indoor spa is the best spa I've ever seen it is amazing.

The lifts are also slow at peak times. And you can't get anywhere from the pool area without a card - not even to the lobby

Overall we loved our stay and would definitely return just a few things that need to be improved on. The cost of food and drinks in Dubrovnik overall is expensive but at the hotel some things are just over the top

We appreciate your feedback about the kids’ pool, food costs, and the lack of a kids’ menu, as well as your suggestions regarding the evening atmosphere and lift service. Your insights are invaluable, and we’ll certainly take them into account for future improvements. Good expansive hotel in a great location.
Private peninsula w spectacular views & sunset.
Our suggestions for improvements: Replace 90% of room towels w new ones, house keeping provided 1 newer soft towel & 1 old rough ( like sand paper) towel each day in our 5 day stay. Turndown service was inconsistent: 1 night 2 chocolates 🍫 on bed without making up the room for the evening. $8.00 bottle of water in the room….
Beach property restaurants had no fresh seafood during the day… only one type of fish ( sea bass or Branzino at 90 euros/ kilo every night… while local restaurant’s had 4-5 + choices of fabulous day catch seafood… Food quality was average for buffet style… a la cart was a bit better… I would replace the hamburger source, had the worst cheeseburger in my life after checking out ( rubbery pressed meat compost is best description).
Staff was friendly an always with a “yes we can disposition”
Location is great for conventions…

Hotel is far too expensive for what you get. Positives: The bed is comfortable; the breakfast is ample and varied.
Negatives: the pillows are dreadful; the shower is in the bath; the hotel is soulless. It’s very difficult to get a cup or pot of tea with breakfast.

I’ve just returned from five nights at this hotel. €2,500 plus extras for five nights bed and breakfast is far too much for what I got. When I complained and said I would have liked a walk-in shower, I was told all superior rooms have baths as a bath is more luxurious than a shower! Try climbing over a high ‘wall’ and showering in a slippery bath for a feeling of luxury. For some reason if we used a face flannel, it was removed and not replaced. The duvet was much too heavy and the pillows were poor quality, resulting in neck pain. The breakfast buffet selection was very good but if you request a pot of tea, ten minutes later, you will see the waiter you requested it from clearing a table and looking like your pot of tea is the furthest thing from his/her mind. There should be a dispensing station for teas, coffees, and hot water where the wait staff can go directly to fulfil your order.
Most of the criticism you see on here is accurate. I booked this hotel through the ACCOR app. I usually appreciate and enjoy their hotels. This is the first time I’ve been disappointed- I like most of them from Ibis to Fairmont etc but I couldn’t recommend the Rixos.

This hotel is marketed as a luxury 5 star but it most definitely is not, so if you’re seeking this holiday experience then do not book here or you may be disappointed.

The styling of the lobby areas and bars are very stylish however too many things let it down than can be overlooked when paying the cost to stay here. Nobody wants to see dead flowers in vases or uncleared tables.

The staff mostly try very hard , it’s obvious that the certain type of guests who generously tip get “extra” attention it’s actually quite amusing to observe.

The Spa ranks up the rating of this hotel , it’s a shame the same Carnt be said for the pool deck area. Previous travellers have mentioned it’s not maintained well and the uncomfortable loungers are not conducive to a luxurious relaxed day. The outdoor pool is too cold to swim in September and the access to the sea is treacherously slippy. Bring rubber beach shoes for safety.

The breakfast provides alot of choice but serving hot dog sausages for breakfast is never a good thing and definitely not 5*. Change up the bacon offerings too, it was the same wafer thin streaky type all week.
The layout of the restaurant is not well set out and creates a chaotic flow of diners trying to weave behind the toaster area for example and the staff service areas are in the middle of everything so it’ all feels very busy. Add in the loud piano playing and the whole experience becomes not at all relaxing .

I must make a special mention to the lady waitress with long lack hair, now to be perfectly honest I’m never a traveler who feels it necessary to be on 1st name terms with the staff but expect a certain level of guest/service interaction. This particular lady despite my best smiles and effort to-say please and thank you looked all week like her house had burned down with all her children in it! I mean lady get a different job if you’re that unhappy at work.

The 15 min walk to the old town is only accurate if your names Usain Bolt, it’s 10 mins taxi ride and a good 30 mins walk. Uphill and downhill so if you have mobility issues then taxi is essential.

One thing I can guarantee you is a good nights sleep, the beds are the comfiest I’ve ever slept in and housekeeping was mostly great even if it wasn’t invisible like you might expect in 5*!

Overall we wouldn’t return , recommend or book Rixos again.

Things looked promising when we arrived and were helped with the luggage and handed a glass of sparkling wine.
Got to the room, nice enough room. However we then had to ring and ask for our luggage as 20 mins later it hadn’t arrived at the room.
We then discovered there was no mirror in the room at all and bizarrely no towel rail or hooks anywhere to hang towels, robe or clothes you’d taken off. Everything had to be flung over the shower door or placed on the floor. Neither of which are acceptable.
When my husband was in the shower I couldn’t do hair and makeup as there was no mirror in the room.
We raised these issues with the reception and a man seemed quite bemused as to why we’d want a mirror and very surprised that there was no towel rail or hooks in the bathroom. Eventually a mirror was brought to our room and put against wall ( no plug socket anywhere near it). They ignored the request for hooks 3 times.

This is not what you’d expect from a 5 star hotel.

The food at breakfast is nice enough, however getting a coffee proves to be very hard. There isn’t enough staff even at quiet times and you spend a good amount of your breakfast time watching to try and catch someone to take your order.
Must add the young women who make the omelettes are very polite.
The food and drinks at the pool bar are absolutely extortionately priced. The service is shocking. You can get up and stand at the bar and are completely blanked by the staff, same happens when you sit down at a table and are waiting for menus. It’s completely unacceptable that guests should be treated this. Once we even had to get up and get them ourselves.
Must give credit to some of the staff there who seem to be doing twice as much and being twice as polite to cover for the bad mannered, uninterested ones. There is a young man whose name begins with a V.( Vasalje?) who is a credit to the hotel, so polite and helpful. Also an older man who wears a dark top, also very good.
The hotel in general needs some work done. The
decking area has seen better days, so has some of the carpeting in the corridor we stayed in.

The location of the hotel is excellent if you want to see the old town. It’s also near to supermarkets.
We have stayed in some lovely, high quality hotels . The Rixos is not one of them.

Had a weeks stay at the Rixos, it is a good location circa 15mins walk into the old town, down hill so be mindful obviously up hill on the way back. The hotel itself is very clean, a really good breakfast buffet caters for all tastes. Good service and friendly staff in the main, however, it does not meet the expected 5star status and the associated price tag. The price point can not be justified, 6euros for a bottle of water to 18euros for Gin and Tonic, 30euros for a burger etc etc. Although our room was ok, clean and great views there had clearly been a leak at some stage as the bathroom ceiling was damp and signs of mould. The outside pool area and general exterior is in need of some tlc, the decking has seen better days. The area is packed like sardines with sun beds all on top of each other, poor service as not enough staff for the amount of guests. The area is also open to non hotel guests which does not help. We had a heavy storm, there were parts of the hotel that flooded, also areas where water was pouring through the ceiling. Overall our stay was fine but seriously lacks true 5star quality in return for the unjustified top price point.

We just spent four nights at this hotel. The location is indeed good, you are in 15-20 minutes walk in the city center and with Uber it costs 6.50 euros.
The first impression when it comes to the hotel is also very good. That's probably where Rixos invested a little. The reception at the recipe room nothing special.
When you are then taken to the room comes the first disillusionment. The rooms are worn out and we everything that doesn't go dirty and badly cleaned. On the window hung a seal , furniture is banged up, the faucet completely rusty etc. The terrace of the room has a wonderful view but is otherwise so naked and simple that you don't want to stay there. Also the furniture on the terrace totally worn. Overall, the room has the charm of an average three star hotel.
The breakfast is very good, the choice large and the quantity of food high quality. Nevertheless, even in the restaurant, especially on the terrace, everything is worn and dirty. Glasses for the juices very badly rinsed and full of lipstick residue. A no go!
But the worst is the so-called beach club. A tight collection of loungers, poor access to the sea and as crowded as on a cheap cruise ship. Again, everything very badly maintained.. Floor full of stains, pillow torn etc.
The crowning glory, however, is the very expensive fish restaurant, which is built directly on this loveless terrace without it being cleaned and around the chairs in which one sits in neat clothes, half an hour before, sweaty people have sat without towel.
In general, the hotel is getting old and it was never invested but just collected.
This hotel has three star level and is a disgrace to Rixos.
Right next to it is a beautiful little boutique hotel - Villa Orbella. Highly recommended !

Just spent 5 nights here with 5 other couples to celebrate 2 x 50th birthdays. The hotel was very good. Great location. Organised transfers from airport. 20 minute walk into Old town or short taxi. We had a sea view room with a fantastic view and large balcony. Everything in the room we needed including mini bar. Would have been nice to have a couple of sun loungers on balcony. The lights took a bit of working out how to switch them all on. Large comfortable bed, good bathroom with nice toiletries although I don't like over the bath showers as think they're dangerous. There was a little bit of mould around the bath corners though. Room cleaned everyday, however I'm not sure how well it was vacuumed as there were signs of dust/fluff on the floor.
The facilities at the hotel are great. A choice of different restaurants (although we only tried the one for breakfast) which was very good with a wide choice. It was sometimes difficult to ask for coffee and water as the staff were busy.
There's a great outdoor pool area and lovely bar/seating area where we ate a lovely lunch. Plenty of sun beds to go around although the hotel charges extra to use the Bali beds which I think is a shame considering what we paid whilst staying there and feel these should be free. There's no beach but there is access to swim in the sea and the pool is a very good size.
There are a few different bars including the terrace bar with a lovely view of the sea. The sports bar is great for watching sports and is open until 2 am.
Overall we had a very good stay, all the staff were very friendly and helpful including the reception who helped us with restaurant suggestions and organised Taxis.
I would strongly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Dubrovnik.
