At the Royal Princess Hotel, the professional and attentive service receives high marks from many guests, although a few have encountered inconsistencies. The hotel's comprehensive amenities, including the luxurious rooms with breathtaking views and quality spa services, are often celebrated, although there are suggestions for minor enhancements. While the hotel's rates are on the higher side, the spa treatments are seen as good value. Its prime beachfront location near Old Town is a consistent highlight. The serene atmosphere and exceptional cleanliness are also widely commended, even though some feel the decor could use an update.

Wonderful hotel with amazing views of the water in Lapad. Rooms are spacious suites (separate living and bedrooms; apartment style kitchen, plenty of storage in closets, two full baths, and balcony). Rooms are very clean. Linens are good quality and the bed is extremely comfortable for sleeping with big pillows. Rooms would benefit from décor update (new carpeting, paint, etc. to freshen up and improve appearance due to some wear and tear). AC works very well! The hotel does not have luggage racks and that would be one thing I would truly love to have -- it is hard to live out of a suitcase on the floor. The pool in the Royal Princess has been removed and is now just artificial grass. There are other pools in the “Royal” hotel resort, including the rooftop infinity glass fishbowl pool at the Royal Blue.

The breakfast buffet selection is improved in terms of quality and presentation. The cut fruits and vegetables in particular are extremely fresh and high quality. The bread is fresher and the scope and diversity of options is greater and better, although it can still be a bit busy at peak times and the layout can make it difficult to access certain areas. The staff work very hard to replenish the buffet and to take care of tables. There is a “make to order” omelette satellite station on the terrace. The setting by the sea is peaceful and relaxing.

There are two gyms and two spas. The weight training equipment is primarily in the Princess gym and it is good quality. There is now also a punching bag in this gym as well.
The beach was unfortunately not set up with sunbeds and suncobrans, as the city was still late to approve and issue seasonal permits so no beaches or outside bars (Sunset Beach in Lapad, Royal Hotels, Buza Bar outside the city walls, etc.) were allowed to be set up or open at all.

There are several restaurants in the Royal Resort – Zoe has a wonderful traditional Neopolitan pizza at lunch with great views. It would be nice to have “pop up” little gelato / soda / snack kiosks at the pool areas or along the path on the Royal property, again for convenience. The closest gelato to the Royal is the Levanat restaurant next door or the gelato shop down by Sunset Beach.

Parking is valet and they take good care of the car.
Taxis are readily available to take to town, which is about a 10 min ride. You can also take the #6 bus which has a stop just up the road (a five minute walk from the hotel). There are several little cafes within an easy walk just past Sunset Beach. Walking into the old town is not that far and is a nice walk.
The staff is all very professional, helpful, polite, friendly, and trustworthy. Many thanks to everyone who make our stay so special and memorable, particularly Ana at the front desk.

This is a very nice hotel, we were in a beautiful suite staying half-board. As we were booking in the receptionist had to compete in volume with a male receptionist who was talking on the telephone. He became so loud I couldn't hear what our receptionist was saying. I had to ask him to please lower his voice and I think as a result of that our receptionist ended her introduction early which had a detrimental effect later on.
We were under the belief we could only eat at the La Castille restaurant thanks to that curtailed introduction. The food is excellent but some is overseasoned and not all dishes on the not large menu were available. The service was also questionable on our second night. Despite there being very few others in the restaurant whilst we were there, it took a long time to be given a menu. We had to ask in the end. We also had to ask for our order to be taken. The starter I asked for wasn't available, foie gras risotto however the very nice maitre de Emir, offered to have a chicken risotto made instead which was graciously accepted as I have a shellfish intolerance leaving me very few other choices. We both had the steak main course. Our steak dish finally arrived almost an hour after we'd ordered it which did leave us very frustrated as there were very few other couples there even when we were ordering. When I discovered my steak was cooked medium as opposed to medium rare it was unfortunately for me like the straw that broke the camel's back. I was genuinely annoyed at how poor the service was when the staff ratio was almost 1 to 1 for tables. I know I sound very much like a spoiled child but the ability to take an order correctly should be an essential quality for a restaurant that was portraying itself as a special location to eat on holiday. We thankfully discovered that we could eat at the buffet restaurant nearby on the half-board basis we had booked and never came back to La Castille. I didn't want to dwell on the negatives so we got on with our holiday. The hotel has a couple of places to sunbathe close to the ocean and the snorkelling was excellent. I followed the string of buoys around which was a decent distance and lots of shoals of fish around. The hotel also provided a trip to Mostur which was cheaper than the trip Jet2 were selling. We had an excellent day out. The location of the hotel was perfect for us, a little out of town but on a bus route and there was a beautiful coastal walk into town.
I would recommend the hotel but I cannot recommend La Castille restaurant.

Another memorable holiday at the Royal Princess Hotel Dubrovnik. From check in to check out it was exactly what you’d expect from a holiday. The staff were always helpful and attentive and always wore a smile. The Executive Sea View suit we stayed in was spacious and very clean. While the carpet was a little tired in didn’t in any way detract from the comfort of the room. The bed was extremely large and very comfortable and the bed linen crisp and spotlessly clean. The balcony on our level was large with adequate seating and beds and fantastic views of the Adriatic Sea and islands. We had a wonderful day out on the water discovering the Elaphiti Islands as part of the Ragusa Boat experience. From pick up to drop off this again was hassle free and Robbie the skipper was very informative and helpful throughout. We find the Royal Hotels ideally located as they are on a quiet area of Lapad with direct access to the sea and many pools that cater for adults and children alike (one downside is the family pool area can be busy). There is a fantastic and well designed sea side walkway connecting the resort to the nearby small town of Lapad. The hotel offers a great breakfast and a choice of restaurants on site, again with great views and helpful staff. The Spa offered good value on treatments also, which we availed of. This is certainly a fantastic Hotel, whether to explore the nearby beautiful old town of Dubrovnik, the many islands or just to relax and unwind in a beautiful setting.

This hotel is stunning, great backdrop, great waters and lovely snorkelling. We booked a family suite for the four of us, two adults and two children age 14 and 12 and there was plenty of room - the room was stunning, on the first floor with a big balcony!

The spa is lovely with the one in princess allowing access to children. Water and towels are plenty as is the space and feeling that you can always find a lounger and use the facilities across the resort.

Lapad is a luxury tourist resort if you are looking for relaxation and prepared for high end central London prices for food (18 euros for a vegetarian burrito) It missed out slightly on five stars as it could have done more on entertainment.

A majestic and super-equipped structure, these are various hotels belonging to an entire complex that holds access to the beach through the ''promenade''. In this tourist complex you can choose either a deckchair and bathe next to the rocks, or swim in one of the 4 pools (2 indoor and 2 outdoor).

The size, cleanliness and comfort of the rooms are the top. The staff is always ready for any request, but they do not speak Italian. There is the availability of massages (for a fee) in two spas and a wide range of restaurants to consume (as many as 4). Breakfast in the morning pleases both sweet and savory lovers, but especially savory.

The things I did not like were: the premature closing time of restaurants (even at 10 pm), the absence of food vending machines, the absence of hot water in the pools. In addition, the structure is too large, so on the first day you will risk not understanding the route between one hotel and another, the context is a bit dispersive. Finally, initially at the property you will pay an additional deposit to the price of the stay, which will of course be returned in case of non-use of minibar or transfer to and from the airport.

What a spectacular resort! If visiting Dubrovnik this is the place to stay.

Rooms - clean, comfortable beds, sheets and comforters felt like they were new. Ocean view room was unlike anything I had ever experienced with great patio size. Loved the Occitane bath products.

Dining - my favorite was the buffet at night. Salad bar was fresh and my go to. Kids loved the variety of the foods. We also ate at the other restaurants on the resort. They were excellent but the buffet was the family favorite. Views at buffet dinner were beautiful with sunset.

Beach/ocean access - kids loved it. Their favorite water access to date. Original beach setup on cliffs. My kids are 11,11 and 10. They loved jumping from cliffs into water. Water was cleanest we have ever experienced.
Pools were clean and accessible. The ocean was so inviting we preferred it over the pools.

Staff were so friendly and courteous from arrival to departure. They arranged all transportation to and from the airport efficiently.

Resort is so clean. Landscaping is beautiful. Lovely paths to walk along. Many areas to sit and enjoy the ocean.

The bar has been set very high staying at this resort! Princess hotel in Dubrovnik has surpassed all of my prior vacations. It will be a regular stop in our future travels.

We stayed here for a week in August and absolutely loved this hotel! Stunning location which is also very convenient for visiting the Old Town on the number 6 bus, which takes 10 to 15 minutes.

The hotel is part of a resort and as a guest in the Royal Princess Hotel you can use all pools and facilities in the whole resort, which includes 9 different pools (2 for over 18s only), 2 spas and 2 gyms. The pools are on the small side (better for relaxing /playing than swimming). The best place to swim is the sea. There aren't any sandy beaches (bonus if you don't like sand!), but there are plentiful loungers on the rocks, with many places to climb or jump into the sea. Beach towels are provided.

We had a deluxe suite with sea view - well worth paying for the sea view and the room had an enormous very comfortable bed, plus a sofa bed (for our two teenagers) and two bathrooms.

Breakfast was excellent with a huge choice. As well as the hot buffet and filter coffee available, you can also order specific coffees and eggs or pancakes at no extra cost. The staff at the hotel were excellent! There were always plenty of staff around ready to help you, either at breakfast or down on the beach to help with parasols etc. Elena and Nikola who served us in La Castille Restaurant at breakfast were particularly friendly and helpful.

From the hotel you can walk down the coast on a very pleasant promenade leading to Lapad Bay (about 10 mins walk) where there are lots of restaurants and a supermarket where we bought snacks/ lunch bits most days. Along the path, there are numerous very picturesque spots where you can get into the sea for more swimming and also some seafood restaurants within 5 mins of the hotel.

We bought dinner at the hotel three times and found the prices there to be comparable to other nearby restaurants. There was also some live music on the Wednesday night at the Bono Brasserie - a really brilliant guitarist and singer which we very much enjoyed.

A couple of tips... Most places locally accept cards, but only accept tips in cash. Some of the smaller shops only accept cash, especially on nearby islands. There is also a Tourist Tax to pay at the hotel when you leave, which is about £4 per day per adult and half for children.

When we arrived we were so pleasantly greeted by the lady at the front desk who checked all three families in quickly. Any questions we had she took the time needed to answer each one. With 3 families with kids there were a few questions.
The room had a sea view was beautiful, and with the floor to ceiling windows the sea view radiated its magic thru our entire room..

Since we arrived between lunch and dinner we were worried about getting a meal for us adults and our children however the kitchen was very accomodaiting and the food was delicious.

After we ate we walked the path along the sea to lapad, it was breathtaking and something we did daily and will never forget.

The indoor pool and gym was always clean and welcoming.

As always with the kids we tire out and have a lazy day, well room service did not dissapoint and i would highly recommend the cheeseburger.

The hotel always had hand sanitizer close by and the cleaning crew took very good care of our room as we left it a mess quite often.

Check out was a breeze and had no suprises, a blessing and didnt have to hear an earful in the car ride afteward from my wife..

Overall it was a wonderful experience and looking forward to our next stay at this magical place..

We stayed at the princess hotel, the room was perfect, really clean, huge and wonderful views. Could not fault it and if you can afford a sea view definitely do it.

There is a really nice walk into the centre of lapad down a boardwalk, really pretty and quiet first thing in the morning.

There are a good choice of pools and we never had a problem getting 4 sun loungers all together, even though we only arrived at the pool at about 11.

We went to Dubrovnik a few times in an Uber and it was really easy to get there and back.

The breakfast was excellent, we ate at la Castille and whilst the choice was not as good as at the terrace it was a lot calmer and cooler.

I am gluten free and the breakfast options were clearly displayed and there was a good choice of baked goods. Not so good for cereal but overall fine. I really enjoyed the ice late and my husband loved the freshly cooked eggs.

We paid for half board as we have 2 children who normally really enjoy this. We were disappointed by the food for a few reasons, there wasn’t as much choice as we’ve had when we’ve been to previous hotels. There was salad, veg and meat or fish. Typically the meat looked quite dry as it had been sat for a while.

Also, the gluten free options weren’t clearly displayed which meant I had to speak to the chef each night and there wasn’t an extensive selection. The chefs were lovely though. We would have eaten at one of the a la carte options but the gluten free options were incredibly limited and also very expensive.

The kids loved pasta night, which was on a Monday. The grill nights were also successful but had the same grill options the 3 times it was on during our 10 day stay.

The main issue I had was that the salads and desserts weren’t covered so there were a few flies on the food. I complained a few times and whilst no one apologised they did seem to take steps to improve the situation and the jet 2 rep assured me they are looking to get covers for the food. I hope they do.

If the food was better this would definitely have been a five star review as it really is beautiful.

Top tips. leave the hotel if you want ice cream. It’s 6 euros an ice cream at the hotel, at the neighbouring hotel you can get a scoop in a cone for 1.5 euros. Also, drinks are really expensive so stock up at the local supermarket.

You should call the hotel directly to ask this kind of question. Every year is different depending on the weather and occupancy.
Answer from Amanda N
No obvious dress code for the royal terrace. We're staying with children who have been going to dinner in shorts and t shirts.

So sorry that I didn't see this question - I honestly would not know, but most things in Croatia are not made for tall people, which is weird considering the people on the coast are unusually tall - the average man being very close to 6 feet. I hope that your visit was as great as you expected.
Judith B asked a question Aug 2023
Wallington, United Kingdom37 contributions50 helpful votes
Does the hotel have gluten free options for breakfast and dinner?
11 contributions11 helpful votes
This answer is late but may be helpful to others. The hotel has gluten free options, but there is always the chance of cross contamination with all the bread items that Croatians love! There is of course fruit, eggs, meats, grilled vegetables, etc. so not everything is croissants and donuts. The same goes for dinner with the addition of fresh grilled fish and stews.
