Rating a motel with a star system is tricky business. If you are used to staying in 4 or 5 star joints then there are an awful lot of one star stopovers. However, if you are more familiar with one or two star dives, anything clean may rate 3. University Lodge in Amherst has earned a two star average. I...

Motel is close to the University, which is very convenient. Room felt dated and worn but overall it was clean. It was very cheap for a weekday visit. I wasn't in the room all that much and primarily used it to just sleep. Bed was comfortable enough. Wouldn't be my top choice if I was spending a lot of time...

Motel type accomodations, worn room. Seemed clean but everything is dated. No real wifi signal. Refrigerator in room, was very noisy. Make sure you get second floor room, we could hear every step the folks upstairs made. Best part was the dog howling in the am for 30 minutes straight. Only reason I would ever consider staying here again is...

The room overall exceeded expectations based upon the reviews. Convenient to UMASS Amherst. Room was mostly clean, but dated. The heat worked well, but you could smell that the vents needed cleaning. Decent lighting and TV, Shower was fine. The internet service was mediocre at best, I could not log onto my laptop. I thought it would be noisier because...

Very low weekday cost and proximity to UMass campus was what attracted us to this motel. Very musty smell as soon as we entered so I opened windows.Dead bugs and grime were on the sill between window and screen. Everything was dingy and worn. Sunflower shells next to the bed. Not a deal breaker but a sign that not much...

A clean and pleasant place; plenty of space in the room with two double beds, refrigerator, microwave and tv. Nice linens and pleasant service upon checking in and out. easy access with parking by the rooms.

The room was clean and comfortable, everything worked, and the lighting was good. The young women in the office were friendly and efficient. Convenient location. No breakfast offered, but we found a pleasant place for breakfast nearby. Would stay there again.

The University Lodge has been around for a long time, and is on the budget end of a bunch of hotels in the area all owned by the same hospitality group. It's one of a handful in the Five College area that accepts pets (for an additional charge), so for those who travel with a companion animal, it goes to...

This is an older hotel, but it was nice and clean, The staff was very friendly and very accommodating. We asked for 2nd floor because of the reviews that the floors were creaky if you stayed on first floor. We enjoyed our stay here, it was close to downtown and would stay here again.

Oh boy!. If you want to sleep, have a few glasses of wine before you hit the sack or get assurances that nobody is in the room above you. The accommodations are good - two beds, plenty of space to move around and sit, but, the floors in the room above us creaked and whined and made all sorts of...
